We went to Traffic & Conversions 2022 (here's everything we learned)

Brian Moncada attended Traffic & Conversions 2022 and interviewed speakers like Tommy Powers and Hasan Bash about marketing strategies, YouTube ads, and scaling businesses. The video covers practical takeaways from conference sessions on business planning and personal development.
I've heard him on calls after, like, the third or fourth objection. And he'll just take his. Take his hat off and he'll rub his eyes, and he's like, I'm not giving up on you, Dan.
Okay, so now we are at the airport heading from LA to San Diego for traffic and conversions. And I'm gonna meet up with Nick and charlie on the adspend.com team. And I thought, what other video would be more fun than taking you behind the scenes and showing you exactly what that looks like and show you sharing all of our top takeaways and breakthroughs with you of traffic and conversions. 20, 22. So let's go. Day one, TNC, adspend.com takes over traffic and conversions. 20. All right, so we just got done with the first session. The keynote with Ryan Dice, and the biggest takeaways from that was basically, you got to flip the funnel. You got to go to high ticket first. No longer are the days where you can go from low ticket to then high ticket later on high ticket first. And then make sure you qualify on the opt in. You qualify in the opt in, you get a higher quality lead. And obviously you can sell them your high ticket, because if they're not qualified, you don't want to sell them your high ticket. That's pretty much it. Now we're headed to breakout room B to learn some YouTube ads and see if there's anything we don't already know, which is kind of tough.
I saw you guys. I saw the adspen, and I remember the tag from the parking lot. And I'm like, these guys look familiar.
He's like, adspen. You guys are an expansive in Miami. He's like, I'm also in Miami. I'm also an expansive dude. We're sitting by someone who also works out of the same building as us. That's crazy. All right, what's up? We just finished the last YouTube ads presentation, and I just ran into one of my best friends and personal performance coaches, high performance coaches. Hassan Bash. He is the founder of Bash Revenue. What's one quick tip you could have with anyone watching right now? Who wants to speak on stages one day? Who wants to talk in front of a camera just like this? Who to wants? Who wants to share their story with the world that you can give them to have the confidence to go on stage and crush it and not be a little boring, if that makes sense.
No, absolutely. I think the three things is always have three main things that you want to share. People could remember three things Always. It's so simple. It's easy. You don't need to repair so much stuff before the presentation. So for example, if I wanted to share with you something is documentation, reflecting and documenting all the things within an operating system. These are three things. So always share three things that it's simple.
It's.
You're teaching a child.
Yeah.
Speak as if you're speaking to a child.
So keep. Keep the. Keep the language around a fourth grade, fifth grade reading level. Don't overcomplicate it. Don't use big words. And make it three things. Three simple things that you can teach on and formulate your speaking around. Exactly.
And then practice before you get on stage. Your vocals always be standing out.
Yeah. Your posture, your posture. And then dress like him. I mean, if you can dress like Hasan here, that's alrigh. Already more credibility than you can get too. So huge. And then for me, it just be your vocal tonality and having the confidence. And that comes from practice. That comes from being prepared.
So your energy, you gotta get your energy up. That's the most, one of the most important thing for people to actually trust and relate to you.
Yeah. Be excited that you're speaking. Be excited that you're sharing. The more enthusiasm you have, the more positive you are, the more the audience is gonna feel it. They can feel it. They can feel it through you speaking. They can feel it through the camera. That's gonna get them excited. That's gonna get them engaged.
Exactly.
And make sure, like he said, jump on a trampoline, do your breath work. Prepare. Make sure you're confident before you speak.
There's one thing is charisma is hard to learn and we sometimes don't have charisma. But you have to find your own charisma that actually is quirky, funny, and that is something. Through practice and actually data from actually doing speaking, speaking over and over again. You have to find the charisma within you. Because we all have some kind of charisma. If it's weird, cocky, whatever that is, find it, but be it. Don't be shy to show it and show it off.
Yeah. And don't be afraid to fail. You got to just start practicing. Practice in the mirror. Practice with yourself. Start speaking. Start visualizing yourself acting as if you're speaking in front of stages, just like we both did. And sure enough, you'll manifest it.
The biggest takeaway there's like Cash Waterfall was super sick. Like showing that you should have multiple business bank accounts on exactly where the money's going. And then also. Yeah, and then also basically how there's different ways to exit the business. So what you're thinking is he's going to say is, well, there's all these different ways you can sell the business. But what he's actually saying is there's different levels and stages of the business that you need to exit. So from going and doing all the work yourself to then going and hiring managers and then going to hiring people that can manage those managers, basically becoming an actual CEO and then also becoming an investor. So that's really interesting, Charles.
Just know your exit, man. Know what? Know what the game is. All right, so we just finished eating, and now we're heading to the next speaker, which I'm super excited about, because this speaker is the person who taught me how to scale with YouTube ads back when I was working full time for Dean Graziosi. I was hungry, I was motivated. I wanted to add value to Dean's business. And then I met this next speaker. His name's Tommy powers. The real YouTube ads OG the YouTube ads goat some people refer to him as. And he taught me everything when I first started. We still use a lot of his principles today. And now I'm gonna see him speak live at TNC to support him. And hopefully I can say what's up with you? And show you, Tommy. You're gonna enjoy it. I'll take you along with me. Let's go.
Do me a favor and let's make some noise for Tommy traffic.
I'm gonna. Guys, today about YouTube ads. How many of you guys are here running a YouTube ad? Oh, nice, nice. How many of you guys are running ads in general? Wow. A lot of ads go up.
That's pretty good.
I love to see it. I love to see it. So what I want to talk about is how we consistently scale to five grand a day or more here.
What? My man, Tommy Powers. Tommy is the one who taught me everything I know when it comes to YouTube advertising. About four, almost four years ago now, I was working for Dean Graziosi full time. Had no clue how to do YouTube ads. I spent about five grand, only made $2,500 back. And then they brought in Tommy to come in for one day to consult with me. He taught me the path to scale. And within 30 days, we went from spending five grand a month on my own dime, learning by trial and error to get him to 5k a month or, sorry, 5k a day pretty quickly. And then we went up to even spend up to 50k a day at one point with that one offer. So I owe all my knowledge to Tommy, man.
Yeah, it's been a while since.
Yeah, yeah.
Sick, man. Yeah. I mean, we had some back and forth, you know, emails and things like that.
We had coaching calls, a weekly where he'd be getting on me. He's like, brian, you got to get new ads, man.
You got to get the money pot in mouth. Right? Because I used to be like, man, don't do that.
Yeah, yeah.
That kind of thing. So. Yeah.
Yeah. 100. He just crushed it on stage, too. So if you want to learn from YouTube ads, this is the guy. I learned from Tommy Powers on Tommy Traffic on Instagram. You gotta follow him, man. Yeah.
It's so crazy because a lot of people, man, I've helped a lot of people. A lot of people don't give me. They don't. They don't. They don't do what you're doing, man. So I commend you for always, you know, giving me credit for that. I'm just being. I'm being real right now. There's so many more people that I've helped that don't do that.
Yeah.
Than people that do. So it said a lot about you and your character and who you are. I'm not surprised that you crushing it out here.
Thank you, man. Appreciate that.
You know, man. Yeah, no, that's good stuff.
All right, so we're walking back to the Airbnb from day one. Overall, solid day, got to do, and meet a lot of cool people, and we're gonna head back, change, get some, and then we'll see where the night takes us. Stay tuned. We just watched some mental programming to prime ourselves to level up personally and professionally with money. Vibes from Jeremy Haynes, who were actually a part of his mastermind, his inner circle. And I've listened to that and watched that every single night since, like, last Thursday, which isn't that long, but I'd encourage you to do the same, because a lot of us always hide our intentions when it comes to money, and everything is dictated by money. And lately I've been really focusing on leveling up. Why I want to make more money, why I want to get richer, and I would encourage you to do the.
Same when you're doing it for the company scorecard. Are you treating each of these different sides of the business as their own business?
So day two of traffic and conversions was spent working on the business, not in the business. Now, here's what I mean by that. We actually didn't go to any of the Presentations today. I'm actually glad because yesterday, the last presentation of the day, it was a scalable presentation and they were actually going over basically tracking and spreadsheets and how to, you know, essentially manage the business properly. And these were all spreadsheets, trackers and things that we have never had in the business prior to yesterday. But we've gotten this far without them. And so let me show you what these look like. The first thing is an internal company scorecard and planning grid. Now I know this sounds basic, but we've never had anything like this, right? Internal company 12 quarter planning grid. Now in the presentation we learned yesterday from traffic and conversions, they suggest to plan out in three years. All right, Three years in advance is how long the farthest you should plan out as a company. So over here you can see our 12 year target of $10 million. It's an eight figure company with a 50% profit margin. That's what we're aiming for. Now in order to do that, right, we have to see where we're at. So you can see this is a little bit off from last year. We ended up with a million and eighty six thousand dollars. I don't know why Nick only has a million and 9,000. But regardless, it's somewhat close. Right? So you can see we ended with 35% profit margin. So out of a million dollars we only kept 35%. So now we're optimizing for basically 10x that. Right? So in order to achieve that, we have to have a great growth rate of 21% year over year, which seems pretty reasonable. All right, now with that said, we're going to have two companies and two businesses to make this happen. Done for you, right? They're done for you right here, which is going to be $3 million a year. Really healthy and really qualified and really just specific to us and who we want to go after. And then the done with you is going to be the majority of the money. This is where most of the profit is going to be coming from and most of the impact. The rest of this stuff is just basically planning, right? Quarterly Sprint planning canvas growth scorecard and then the internal company tracker along with the company scorecard for both the done with you and the done for you businesses, which we have separated out right here because the done with you is a totally different business than the done for you. So you can see we have some North Star metrics that we're going to be looking at and reviewing on a weekly basis to see are we on track or are we off Track, Are we on track? Are we off track? Are you off track? Week over week, right? And then we have someone who's going to also be in charge of those metrics to make sure that everyone is being held accountable to a KPI. Immediately after that last presentation yesterday, I was like, guys, we're going to skip tomorrow because tomorrow is pretty weak anyways. And we're going to simply go and stay at the Airbnb and just work on what we learned. Right now when you go to Masterminds, right, you're looking for one, two, maybe three things. And you should leave immediately after you get those one, two, or three things so you can implement them and take action. Because what most people do is they keep pleasuring themselves with information, information overload, and they just confuse and keep trying to satisfy that. That muscle, right? Keep trying to get that gratification of their learning, but they're not actually doing. And doing is where the money is made. Implement that into the business. And that's all we're going to be doing. Because if we just do that, we will grow exponentially. And so now we are getting changed, heading over to dinner to meet up with Tommy Powers, a few other friends, and we'll see where the night takes us.
I've heard him on calls after, like the third or fourth objection, and he'll just take his. Take his hat off and he'll rub his eyes and he's like, not giving up on you, Dan.
There's two pieces to the lead generation. There's the ad and then there's, where do you put the app? So who here has actually sold a client, but you did, like, a really shitty sale. Like, they weren't sold well, and so they just were like a client for forever. Anyone? Yeah. Sucks, right? That's what you get when you don't sell an employee the same. Not bought in, not engaged, not loyal.
The definition of learning is same circumstance, different behavior. So if after, I mean, a lot of you guys were here to learn stuff, in this whole event, if you go back to the same conditions, the same circumstances you were before, and your behavior doesn't change, it means you learned nothing.
So Leila Hormozi just spoke on hiring. And more importantly, if you're a marketer, how you. You not only need a marketing channel and funnel for your business to attract new clients, you also need a talent acquisition funnel to hire better talent, to hire more talent, to hire top talent in your business. And it's kind of funny because when you think about running ads for client acquisition Right. You're getting clients, but you normally don't think about running ads to get new hires. And it's pretty basic, but it's actually something that a lot of people just don't do, including, you know, us right now. Not that we need to run ads to hire people because we've been blessed enough to be able to, you know, hire a lot of my friends who I already knew, who are already doing cool things. But when you get to a certain point, you're going to need to be able to attract top talent at will. And so one of the things that Laylor just spoke on, as you just saw, was creating a talent acquisition funnel to attract top talent to the business. And so for you, if you're watching this and you need people, and you know you're going to need people as you scale the business, which prevents most businesses from scaling, especially the sales team. Because most businesses live and die by their sales team. If they don't have good closers, they don't have appointment setters, they don't have a way to get more closers, they don't have a way to get more appointment setters. If you are someone who is playing, you know, all the hats in the business, you're the face of the brand, making the content, posting all the videos, helping the clients, right? Running the ads, doing the operations, chances are you're gonna stay capped at a certain income. If you're experiencing that, you know that, that, that pain, right, where it gets hard and it hurts to continue working in the business, you probably need to hire someone. Alright, so right now we are about to head over to Lion's Fish to meet up with Tom Brees. He is another YouTube ads OG and he actually taught me a lot about YouTube ads as well. Gonna have dinner with him on the last night of tnc. So let's go and have some fun. Fun. Okay, so we're at the airport in San Diego, about to head back to Miami. And if there's one thing that I've learned after this whole week, it's that all of this information is great. But if you fail to set a goal after learning all of the knowledge that you soak up at a mastermind or at an event like traffic and conversions, then you're ultimately going to set yourself up for failure. Now, there is a secret, simple tip that I learned from Sam Ovens, who taught me how to set goals that allowed him to fill up his Quantum Mastermind and Scale Consulting.com to $36 million per year. Now, if you want to learn what that goal setting technique is so you can take all the information that you learned from this video, apply it to your business to achieve better results, then watch this video right here and I'll see you there. There's a simple little goal setting technique that you can start implementing into your life and business to start hitting your goals faster and more efficiently than having to write them down every single day. And I actually learned this technique from Sam Ovens at the most recent.
