This is a YouTube video titled "You might need to do something a little bit crazy #shorts" containing a monologue or personal narrative from September 18, 2023. The speaker shares a motivational story about leaving a well-paying job after college to pursue a challenging sales role, emphasizing trust in oneself and the value of learning hard skills early in a career.
If you're just starting out, you need to be naive enough to trust yourself. After I graduated college, going to Arizona State University, I got a job for Pepsi, where I was making about $60,000 per year, which at that time to me was a lot of money for any college kid coming out of a degree. But I ended up quitting that job to take half the pay doing cold call sales to learn how to sell to strangers who didn't know who I was, because I knew if I could learn sales and do one of the hardest jobs there is in the entire world, which is calling random strangers and trying to sell them something they don't want or they don't need, let alone trust you who they don't even know. I knew I could write my own paychecks no matter where I went, and create my own future. I trusted myself, even though I was naive and didn't know much at that time, because I knew that that opportunity, even though it was half the pay, would eventually pay off in the future. And it's done pretty well, if I have to say for myself.
