Know The Outcome Before You Start - The Lost 1929 Classic That Teaches You To Master Your Destiny

Brian Scott breaks down The Message of a Master, a 1929 book about a businessman transformed by a mysterious teacher's nine-step system for manifesting desires. The method hinges on two minds: the outer mind that directs, and the inner mind with limitless power. Scott traces the book's possible connection to Neville Goddard's teachings.

The outer mind is the one in contact with the world through the 5 senses. The inner mind is the power. It knows no impossible, no failure, no obstacle or limit or lack. It depends upon the guidance of the outer mind and throws its great unlimited force into anything that the outer mind may direct. Welcome to the Reality Revolution. I'm your host, Brian Scott. Today I'm super excited to talk about a lost, obscure 1929 book that I recently reread that just blows me away every time I read it. And now it's got me to thinking that it might be referring to Abdullah himself. We'll get into that in a second, but let me take you back. It's a Saturday afternoon in 1929, and a businessman named Tom is sitting alone in his office. The staff have gone home. He's come back from a late lunch, and there's nobody in the building. His business has fallen off considerably. He has recently put money into a real estate speculation that failed. Sitting there in the empty office, he describes it as the most serious problem of his business career. And he can find no way through it. The telephone rings. He picks up. And he hears a voice he had already accepted he would never hear again. The voice belongs to David Bentley. Dave was his closest friend. And less than a month earlier, Dave had left for Europe on the urgent instruction of his physician. He had suffered a complete breakdown. The doctor had told him to take an ocean voyage or go anywhere so long as he went, in the hope that a change of scene might do something. And the strange part, which Tom notes carefully, is that Dave's collapse had come from worrying about conditions almost identical to the ones Tom is sitting in at this moment. When they said goodbye, Dave was a shadow of himself. Everybody who watched him left privately wondering whether they would see him again. Now he's on the telephone, and the voice coming down the line carries such power and feeling that Tom says his first instinct is that he is speaking to a dead man. Here's what Dave tells him: Tom, I know that you're puzzled over my early return, And I also know that you never expected to see me again. But I'm back. And I'm the luckiest man in the world. For I learned something that I never knew existed. Nothing is impossible with me anymore. For I can do anything. I am master of my own destiny. And I can make my life anything that I wish it to be. Oh, don't think I'm crazy. Wait until you hear my story. Trying to laugh it off, suggests his friend has stumbled onto some new religion. On the contrary, it concerns no religions of any kind or of anybody. You see, I met a master, a wonderful man who has so developed his powers that he can do anything And he taught me a secret that no price could ever buy. You know that I lost my health and I lost my wealth. Well, I have regained my health and I will have the wealth in no time. They agree to meet at their club at 9 that evening. Tom hangs up and sits there unmoving for several minutes. Then something happens to him that he struggles to describe. He says he became possessed of the feeling that he had suddenly grown too big for the office. He had outgrown that little place. He had to get outside and expand in the fresh air. He puts on his hat and walks out and spends the rest of the day pacing the streets. That is the opening of a book published in 1929 called The Message of a Master. It runs 112 pages. You can finish it in an evening. It's one of the finest books ever written in this field, which is a large claim, and I'm going to defend it for the next few minutes. Here's why it works. Most books about this material explain. This one dramatizes. You watch a man who is going to kill himself become somebody who says the sentence, I know the outcome before I start. And you watch his friend go from disbelief to obsession to instruction, and by the time the teaching arrives, you want it the way the character in the book wants it. The teaching itself is delivered as a private course from a master to one student, and you are seated in the room when it happens. It has never gone out of print in nearly 100 years. It has passed hand to hand through business circles and metaphysical circles for 4 generations, and a great many people believe it is the source material sitting underneath a certain film about a certain secret that sold 20 million copies. The man who wrote it declined to be identified, and the name on the COVID may belong to nobody at all. Now, I'm aware that a great many of you are here because you have limited time and a stack of books you intend to get to. And a life that keeps interrupting. So tonight I'm gonna hand you the entire thing— the story, the system, all 9 steps, the words and the pieces of technique inside it that I found nowhere else in the literature. I will also tell you plainly at the end whether to go read it yourself, and my answer is going to surprise nobody. There's one more thing here involving Neville Goddard that I I've never been able to explain. I've never heard anybody discuss it. So, let's get into it. The following evening, Dave picks Tom up in a new expensive car and drives him to a highway café. And they take a private dining room where nobody will interrupt them. Tom studies his friend across the table. His countenance glowed with health and vitality, and his calm, poised bearing inspired wonderful admiration and confidence. But while I felt perfectly at ease in his company, I also felt the force of some presence in him that I could neither understand or describe— something that put a person at ease and simultaneously commanded respect for something the person failed to understand. Then Dave tells him the truth about why he left. Tom, you didn't know That I left here determined to end it all. I'd made such a mess of my affairs, but I feared to live, and I feared to die, and I couldn't rest. To keep moving was my only relief. I guess I was what the world would call a hopeless case. He went to Europe to die. And then the meeting itself, which is one of the strangest small details in the whole book. He was in London. He went to a theater. I decided upon a regular orchestra seat but discovered that for some unexplainable reason I had ordered a box and found myself seated beside my friend. He had intended to buy an ordinary seat. Somehow he ordered a box instead. He has no explanation for how that happened. And in that box beside him was a man. Dave's reflection on it afterward: Extraordinary happenings such as this occur frequently to many of us. and are explained away because of our ignorance as merely coincides, but I know differently now. A man on his way to end his life orders the wrong ticket and ends up in a private box beside the one person on Earth who could stop him. A short word about the author, because there's barely anything to say in the absence It's part of the story. The Message of a Master was published in 1929 by California Press. The name on the COVID is John MacDonald. Beyond that, the trail goes cold almost immediately. Booksellers have spent decades attaching it to various men of that name, and none of the attributions hold up under any pressure. The copyright carries a different set of initials than the COVID does. Whoever wrote the book took considerable care to stay out of the way of it. And by the end of this episode, you will understand why. Because the 6th step of the system he teaches is a single word, and that word is secretiveness. The man practiced what he wrote. Here's the part I cannot account for, and I want to give it to you before we go into the teaching because it stayed with me since I found it. The friend in the book is named David Bentley. Everybody calls him Dave. He is a businessman who lost everything, went abroad in despair, met a mysterious teacher, and came back transformed. Now, Neville Goddard. Neville's origin story involves a teacher he calls Abdullah, an Ethiopian Black Jew he studied with in New York for 5 years, who taught him Hebrew scripture and the Law of Assumption. And in accounts of how Neville came to Abdullah, there's another figure, a man Neville refers to as David B. The versions vary in the retelling, and the details are difficult to nail down, which is true of nearly everything in Neville's biography. But the figure recurs— a man who had lost his enormous sum, who was connected to the teaching, and who was part of the chain that brought Neville to his teacher. David B. David Bentley. A Financial Ruin, a Mysterious Master, and a Transformation in a book published in California in 1929, at exactly the period when Neville was moving through the same circles on the other coast. This is right about the time that this would have happened. So this very much might be the man that introduced Abdullah to Neville Goddard. Now go and check out my episode about Abdullah. Abdullah may have been fascinated with the theater, somebody who was an opera singer Or could sing, or was a musician. And clearly there's a link. He's in the theater when he meets him. Now, I want to be careful here. I want to be clear about what it is. That's a parallel rather than a proof. Researchers who work on New Thought history have noticed it and written about it, and that's all. David is one of the more common names in the English-speaking world, so it may be a coincidence. To me, in this world, there are no coincidences. Now, before the teaching, the rest of the story— because the story is how the book sells the teaching— Dave gets his instruction from the master, then he returns to America, and what follows is described from the outside by Tom watching his friend operate. There seemed to be no stopping him, for he went from one success to another, he said. His activities reach such a scale that he is forced to conduct part of his operations through close friends because he can no longer handle the volume personally. Tom, alarmed, attempts to advise greater caution. Dave's reply is the line that ends the conversation permanently: I know the outcome before I start. Tom never raises the subject of Dave's affairs Again, for as long as they know each other. And there's a detail about Dave that the book keeps returning to, and it turns out to be one of the required conditions of the whole system. Because of his secretiveness, we knew little of his affairs. He tells nobody anything. That is deliberate. It is taught, and we'll come back to it because it is one of the 9 steps. Now, the teaching in The Master begins where every serious version of this material begins, which is with the question of what you actually are. His opening argument is biological, and it is simple. You grew from a minute cell smaller than the point of a pin. Just think, a cell or seed the size of a pinpoint contaminated within itself in essence and in entirety the wonderful being that you are today. That cell could contain no physical version of you, no miniature arms, no folded organs, nothing material. So the question is, what did it contain? There is but one logical answer. The cell contained a spark of mind, the one and only power supreme in man. That spark of mind, true to the law of its own being, held a fixed image or picture of you, and you unfolded, grew, and eventually outpictured. You were held as a picture, and then you appeared. And from that he states the law that everything else rests on: mind, no matter what form it is apparently contained in, holds images, pictures, and any picture firmly held in any mind in any form is bound to come forth. You are standing evidence of the law. You were a picture in a cell, and now you are a person reading this. He follows it with a second argument. Medical science of his period held that the body replaces itself completely across about 11 months. His question: how can you remember back through those many years when your brain is not yet a year old? You have memories from childhood. The physical brain holding them has been entirely replaced many times over. His conclusion: because you are a mind, you are not body. You are master, and your body is your servant. It is your instrument of expression. That is all. Then the question he leaves hanging. Now, which is the real body? The one that remains pictured or imaged forever in mind as long as you exist here, or the one that decays in its entirety and passes into the earth every 11 months? If the law is that every firmly held picture comes forth, the obvious objection is that most of your pictures have failed to appear. The Master addresses it directly, and his answer is the best explanation of the mechanism. First, he acknowledges that some of them do work and that people miss it. Can you not recall instances when you have secretly expressed a desire within yourself for some particular thing, or that you might meet a particular person, when shortly that thing becomes your possession or that person appears, and you might exclaim, isn't it a coincidence? Then the reason the rest fail— he reaches for the newest technology available to him in 1929. You attempt to tune in to one station for some delightful music, but because of there being a number of others on the air, your reward is a jumble of confusion. But should you reach that station when others are temporarily off, you get it clearly and your desire is gratified. The desires that manifested arose at the exact instant when nothing was competing with them. It happened that by chance those thoughts or desires which appeared arose at just the instant when there were no other conflicting thoughts present to nullify their power. And the mind, instead of being divided among many thoughts, threw its great force in with that one. Your successful manifestations were the ones that got a clear channel by accident. And then a passage I want to give you in full because it is a genuine instruction hidden inside a description. You have experienced times when your mind became a complete blank for just a moment and you found yourself Staring out into space. If at that instant it were possible to inject any wish, any desire, with sufficient force, nothing upon Earth could prevent it from coming forth instantly. The blank moment, the gap that arrives on its own, staring at nothing, thinking about nothing. He is telling you that a wish placed into that specific window would be unstoppable. Anybody has worked with the drowsy state, the moment before sleep, or the pause after a long exhale, or the manifestation within the void, is working with the same window. And this book identified it in 1929 by describing what it feels like to stare out of an office window. His diagnosis of what produced the noise, incidentally, is one sentence: it is the false belief that there is a power of powers outside of you greater than the power within you. The Master's model has 3 parts, and he is careful to note that he is using a convenient contradiction since, in his view, there is only one mind and these are phases of it. The deeper mind runs the body. His instruction here is unusual and worth hearing. The mind we are not particularly concerned with, and properly should not be, It knows its duties better than we do. We can cooperate with this mind to our great profit in both health and strength by keeping our thoughts off the body. Leave it alone. It manages the body better without your supervision. The outer mind is the one in contact with the world through the 5 senses. The inner mind is the power. It knows no impossible, no failure, no obstacle or limit or lack. It depends upon the guidance of the outer mind and throws its great unlimited force into anything that the outer mind may direct. He compares it to electricity— enormous power, no discrimination whatsoever, entirely dependent on direction, and productive of help or harm according to the wisdom or ignorance of whoever is directing it. And here is his explanation of why almost nobody gets results, which is the sharpest thing in the book. The outer mind forms a desire which is automatically taken up by the inner mind, and in turn it immediately proceeds to function toward bringing it forth. It scarcely has time to turn its great force in that direction before the outer has found a new fancy or has conjured up illusionary obstacles, and the inner is forced to again divert its power. And thus it goes on and on, like leaks in a steam pipe, scattering its wonderful power everywhere but getting nowhere. The inner mind begins working immediately, every time, on everything you hand it, and before it can complete anything, you hand it something else. Leaks in a steam pipe— enormous pressure, no output, because it is escaping in 40 directions at once. Then the sentence that names what most people are actually doing. What do we find humanity doing? We find them taking pictures of what they experience daily in the outer world, developing the sensitized film, then printing those pictures upon themselves within. The procedure should be just the reverse. Photography in 1929, when the metaphor was fresh, most people photographed their circumstances and then developed the film inside themselves. The instruction is to reverse the direction Of the camera. His technique for holding an objective is the plainest thing in the book, and I've used it since I read it. You need to reach a town, you get in the car, you picture the destination, you point yourself at it. If the town is far away, you will take the wrong roads repeatedly, and each time you notice, you turn back and get on the correct road. You held a set definite objective until you reached it. You held your objective or destination in mind without any particular effort or strain and merely returned the car to the proper road when you found that it had strayed, and you got there without any particular effort or strain. Nobody driving to a distant town strains to hold the destination in mind. Nobody worries that they have stopped believing in the town. They correct the route when they notice the error, and the correction requires no drama at all. This is before GPS. So now we have GPS. That's what our inner mind is. That is his entire prescription for holding a goal across years. You will stray. Straying is expected and it is uneventful. Turn back and continue. Just get back on the road and keep focusing On your destination. His instruction on goal setting contains one piece nobody really teaches. You decide on a supreme goal. It may be distant. Then you set a first objective in the direction of it— a definite increase in volume this month, a position one step above the one you hold. And then the moment you reach it, you set another one immediately. His reasoning: because the peculiar nature of the outer mind is to drop back into inertia after being forced through through to an objective. He gives the outer mind a line of dialogue: Well, I've been mercilessly whipped about and forced through to that thing, but I reached it, and now I will have a rest. And your answer to it is: No rest for you, for I have already started you upon another. Then the payoff, which is the reason to do it: once you have attained that valuable momentum, maintain it. Cling to it. And as the momentum increases, the steps in your progress become more rapid, until eventually it will be possible to reach an objective almost immediately, as is the practice of those in my work. The gap between choosing and receiving shortens with use. That is the acceleration mechanism described in 1929, and it is the reason his advanced students appear to get results instantly that have been maintaining momentum for years. His image for how it works underneath is agricultural, and it contains an instruction people consistently ignore. The seed goes into the darkness of the soil and proceeds to out-picture the exact image held within its life cell. It sends a shoot up toward the light and roots down for nourishment. And this detail: if on the way up that chute encounters obstacles in any form, it does not attempt to force them out of its way. It travels around them. The chute never fights the stone. It goes around. Then the part that matters the most: bear in mind that the actual process takes place in darkness beneath the surface. That is where all great and important ideas are developed. And then his instruction: Now you're going to cast glances out of the corner of your eye to see how the thing is proceeding. Are you going to set wondering how the thing works, or if it is really working? Not at all. You would not dig up a seed in your garden to see if it were sprouting. Checking is digging up the seed. Every time you look at your circumstances to assess whether the manifestation is working, you're pulling a seed out of the ground to inspect its roots. He closes, you plant the seed idea, you hold it there, you nourish it. You have done your part. Trust the law to do its part. Now the passage I consider the most valuable in the book, and it's a piece of physics. He tells you to expect resistance, and then he tells you to welcome it. Will you encounter resistance? He says, oh yes, your activity creates it. Why? Because action requires reaction to support it. Resistance is the negative pole of action. If there were no resistance, action would be nonexistent. Then he illustrates it is resistance that keeps the airplane soaring. Without resistance, it could not fly. Neither could the birds or the fish swim. Or you walk. An airplane is held by the thing pushing against it. Remove the air and it drops. And then he scales it. As the power of the engine increases, the greater the momentum of the airplane and the greater the resistance necessary to support it. The greater the momentum, the greater the altitude of height possible to attain. More power produces more resistance, and the increased resistance is what permits the increased altitude. Which means the resistance appearing in your life is proportional to what you're attempting, and it is the thing holding you up. Then he gives an operational instruction, and it's strict. Are you to recognize resistance in any guise? No, for if you recognize it as a power opposed to your progress, you are resisting it. Therefore, you automatically acknowledge it as a power greater than you, for no lesser power can diminish the progress of a greater one. Acknowledging an obstacle as an obstacle is an admission that it outranks you. And this follows immediately, and it's the sharpest warning of the book: whoever or whatever you resist, be it in thought, word, or action, be it in The form of criticism, envy, jealousy, hatred, or otherwise, you must assuredly help, and you weaken yourself proportionately. Why? Because you have deliberately taken a portion of your precious life force, so necessary to your progress, and transferred it to that person or thing. Resenting someone strengthens them at your expense. I'll say that again. Resenting somebody Strengthens them at your expense. And then the evidence he offers: Have you not witnessed the case at times of one becoming exhausted after a fit of rage over another? Exhaustion is depletion, and to deplete means to empty. Something went out, yes, to the other person, to his profit and to the other's loss. The exhaustion after anger is the receipt for a transfer of energy to the other person. You had a quantity of force. It left you. It went somewhere. He calls that transfer of life force in a violent form. He applies the same principle to a subtler drain, and this one connects back to Dave's secretiveness. Talking about your affairs scatters the force, which is why the 6th step of his system is a single word: secretiveness. Something other than modesty and something other than humility. A working practice of keeping your objectives sealed, because every account you give of them releases a portion of the pressure that was building behind them. Now, the practice itself, which is the part almost nobody quotes this book ever gets to— the Master gives a list of words: concentration, peace, Poise, harmony, goodwill, non-resistance, justice, freedom, guidance, wisdom, understanding, inspiration, intelligence, memory, law and order, faith, confidence, spirit, health, strength, energy, activity, vitality, power, life, youth, success, happiness, alertness, resourcefulness, Persistence, purpose, achievement, mastery, dominion. The instruction is to set aside half an hour to an hour each evening, alone and undisturbed, and take each word separately down the list, or select the ones your situation requires. Firmly impress your being with each word, and at the same time interpreting its meaning and its effect upon you. Not necessarily in the terms of its generally accepted meaning, but strictly as it appeals to you. Your own definition rather than the dictionary's. And now the piece of the technique that I consider the single most valuable in the book, and I want to spend real time on it because it resolves something. He gives an instruction about the words I am. I do not advise that the declaration I am be used in connection with these words unless you are at the time in a positive frame of mind unless you have full conviction of what you're repeating. To declare, for example, I am power, lays the inner mind open to attack from the outer in the form of denial or doubt, whereas when the words only are repeated, they do not take upon themselves the nature of declaration, and consequently the outer mind has not been given the opportunity to become aroused in opposition. Read the first clause carefully because it contains a condition rather than a prohibition. To declare, for example, I am power, lays the inner mind open to attack unless you are in a positive frame of mind, unless you have a full conviction. He's telling you to use it and be cautious because the I am is so powerful. Here's the mechanism, and it explains an experience every person Listening is had. A declaration is a claim, and a claim invites a rebuttal. Say, I'm wealthy, while looking at an account that disagrees, and something in you supplies the counter-evidence immediately. The rent, the number on the screen, the last 12 months. Now you have made the claim and produced the disproof in the same breath, and the disproof arrived with more feeling behind it than the claim did. That's why affirmations occasionally leave a person feeling worse than before they started. It is a well-documented experience. Almost nobody explains why it happens. The Master explains that the declarations woke up the opposition. Now say the Word of Power on its own. Nothing's been asserted, no claim has been made, there's nothing available to argue with, and the word enters underneath the defense entirely. So this is a system with 2 gears, and knowing which one you are in is the whole skill. The low gear is the bare word, and that's why he's having you focus on those words. Once you've reached an understanding of the word, when you say, I am power, I am vitality, I am confidence, I am mastery, I am dominion— when you just say power, vitality, confidence, mastery, and dominion, you use this on the days when the declaration bounces off and you don't feel it's true. When you're tired, when the news was bad, when the evidence in front of you is loud and the claim feels ridiculous coming out of your mouth, the bare word gets in on those days, and those are exactly the days when something needs to get in. The high gear is the I am—full declaration, full conviction, full force. You use this when your state already supports it. You're in a heightened state. That's why we do the I am in meditation. When you are in it. When the words arrive with power behind them rather than a question mark. And the condition that the declaration is considerably stronger than the bare word, because a claim made with total conviction carries the whole weight of your being behind it. The instruction is to shift up when your state permits. Start every session with the bare words, because the bare words require nothing from you. And they always get through. Take them one at a time down the list. Let them enter. And somewhere in the middle of that, the state will lift. It usually does. Somewhere around the 10th or 12th word, something turns over and the resistance goes out of you. That is the moment to shift. The moment you feel full conviction available, put I am in front of the word and let the declaration carry it the rest of the way. I am power. I am vitality. I am mastery. I am dominion. The bare word opens the channel. The declaration fills it. So obviously I'm going to do a meditation in the future, and that will be— we will focus on the words, then we will focus on the I am with the word. This is a genuinely sophisticated piece of psychology from 1929, and it makes every affirmation practice You have more durable because it gives you something to do on the days when you don't feel right, when it's not there and you're being honest with yourself. His description of what the words do: like drops of pure water entering a vessel of impure water, drop by drop, the non-essentials are forced out and the essentials remain. These powerful words, acting upon you in the same way that food does upon your body, automatically find their own needed places and uses within. In the same manner as do the elements in the food which you eat, and you should not look for results from this practice any more than you look for results from what you eat daily. Nobody eats dinner and then checks for results. In the closing instruction on it, you are to practice this system early evening as regularly and diligently as your affairs will permit, and then forget them entirely until the next evening. This will be doing their work below the surface, unknown to you. There's a passage where the master, having refused all through the book to describe his personal method, decides to give a hint. He compares himself to a painter. A painter rendering a great oak would produce something dull by painting the oak alone. The true artist includes the grass, the brush, the flowers, the leaves, the sky, and the clouds. He states, while he places his upon the canvas, I place mine within. He places the oak upon the canvas and gives it its natural surroundings. I do the same. Then the application: where I do desire wealth, I would surround that picture with all of wealth's natural accompaniments, possessions, and conditions. They would instinctively present themselves for inclusion. Surround the object with its natural context. Wealth alone is a bare figure. Wealth with the room it sits in, the ease around it, the ordinary Tuesday it happens on, is a scene, and a scene is what the mind can hold. And then he writes a sentence that describes his actual daily life. I would go about my duties as usual. It matters little what I appear to be doing in the outer It matters much what I am doing within. He closes the hint with a practical concession for beginners, which is charming coming from somebody described as having unlimited powers. If I were a beginner and desired, for instance, a new automobile or home, I would select a picture in colors of one or closely resembling the one I desired from a trade or home periodical and place it where it would meet my eye frequently. Cut a picture out of a magazine and put it where you will see it. A vision board recommended by the master in 1929 on the grounds that it holds the outer mind in line and hastens the outpicturing. This is the first reference I've seen of the vision board. The book closes with nine steps. And here they are, what each means in practice. These are the 9 steps. At the end, it's an appendix, and it gives you 9 steps to follow. 1. Mind holds pictures, and any picture firmly held in any mind is bound to come forth. That is the law, and everything else is method. 2. Remove the conflicting thoughts. Your desires fail because they are competing with other stations on the same frequency. The fixed picture in mind is the actual thing, and what you see through the 5 senses is that picture outpictured. The interior version is the original. The exterior version is the print. Reverse the camera. Most people photograph their conditions and develop the film inside themselves. Photograph the desired condition and let the world develop it. Hold a set Definite objective until you reach it. Be a deliberate thinker. Just like the story of the car in the town reaching its destination. Correct the route without drama. Secretiveness. Seal it. Every telling releases pressure. Dedicate each evening to the words. Half an hour alone, one word at a time, without declaration. 8, refuse to check. Skip the sideways glances. Skip wondering whether it's working. You planted the seed, and digging it up kills it. And 9, practice it. That's the entire 9th step in his words. By all means, practice it. If you want to run it, here is the week. Set one supreme goal and one first objective toward it. The supreme goal Can be distant. The first objective should be near enough that you will reach it within a season. Write the words on a card, all 35. Keep it wherever you will sit in the evening. Now I'm going to give you the words again, and we make them available in my school group as well. You can find them in the book. Once again, concentration, peace, poise, harmony. Goodwill, non-resistance, justice, freedom, guidance, wisdom, understanding, inspiration, intelligence, memory, law and order, faith, confidence, spirit, health, strength, energy, activity, vitality, power. Life, youth, success, happiness, alertness, resourcefulness, persistence, purpose, achievement, mastery, dominion. Those are the words. Simply remember those words. Write them down. Find them. All of them. Take 20 minutes tonight, one word at a time down the list, or select 6 or 2. All right, just pick a couple of them that fit your situation. Hold each one and let your own meaning arrive rather than the dictionary. You name what it means. You find the meaning of it. Start in low gear. Speak them as bare words rather than as claims: power, vitality, mastery, dominion. Nothing attached to them. Shift up when your state rises. Somewhere in the middle of the list, something usually turns over when full conviction becomes available. Then you start putting I am in front of the words and let the declaration carry it. For 30 days, seal the objective completely and tell nobody. Don't tell anybody. Correct the route without drama. You will stray. Straying is the expected condition of driving somewhere far away. Turn the car and continue. When resistance appears, refuse to name it as opposition. It is the air holding up the plane, and its size is proportionate to what you are attempting. Stop checking. The seed is in the ground and the process happens in the darkness. And the moment you reach the first objective, set the next one the same day. The momentum is the actual asset, and it compounds until objectives begin arriving almost immediately. A businessman sat alone in an empty office on a Saturday afternoon in 1929 with his business failing and no way through it, and the telephone rang, and it was a friend everybody had privately written off. That friend had gone to Europe to end his life. He bought the wrong ticket, ended up in a theater box beside a stranger, and came home able to say the sentence, I know the outcome before I start. Underneath that story sits a complete system. You were a picture in a cell before you were a person. Every picture firmly held comes forth. Your failures came from handing the inner mind a new instruction before it could finish the last one. The process happens in darkness, and checking on it kills it the way digging up a seed kills it. Resistance is Is the air holding the plane in the sky, and its size is proportionate to what you are attempting. Whatever you resist, you feed out of your own supply. Tell nobody. And the words go in every evening, one at a time, underneath the argument, the way food goes into a body. Tonight you can read it yourself if you want to. It's 112 pages, and you can finish it in a single evening. It's in the public domain. Costs you nothing to find. It's free. There's anything in the experience of reading it that I've been unable to reproduce here, no matter how much of it I hand you, because the teaching arrives inside a story, and the story does something to you while the teaching goes in. The author says it himself in the note at the front, and it is the best instruction: this is not a volume to be hurriedly or superficially read. Read it as though it were a message directed to none but yourself. He also says that ideas will occur to you while you read concerning your own work and your own ambitions, and that's what happened to me. And that when you do, you should set the book down for a few minutes and follow them. Do that. It is the best advice in the whole book, and it is in the preface where almost nobody looks. Whoever wrote this declined to put their real name on it and spent their life invisible and let the work travel without them for 100 years, which is entirely consistent with step 6. Get one of the words into you tonight. One word. Just a few minutes alone with nothing attached to it. And then tell nobody. My biggest experience is what it's like being in the energy of, of money. I mean, really, it's not something that you ever really think about. And realizing that it's as simple as changing your frequency to get into the frequency of money has been life-altering.
All the way from Morocco, I got invited to this event from my business partner, my best friend, and I came with an open mindset. I've heard so many podcasts, so many videos of Brian Scott that I was just so speechless about. Videos where miracles, money, opportunities. So when I've heard that he there is an event here in Austin, Texas, I was like, you know what? I don't think I got invited for no reason. So I came and I'm so glad that I'm here.
I've been an entertainer and a musician for 4 decades before that. When the jobs came back after COVID, I didn't want to do what I'd done, so the manual labor job was a good way to regulate myself. And Brian's teachings really resonated with me, and he's a wonderful teacher.
Brian's meditations are super intense for me. I, I get really emotional. And I've been crying a lot. After the first half of the meditations, I had people hug me and hold my hand, and that made me feel a lot, lot better.
Like, a lot better.
And the whole world starts to rearrange around them. This is lightning in a bottle. It's one of the most exciting things that we have discovered, and I'm inviting you to join me. In this powerful experience, you can find the link for tickets below at www.brianscottlive.com/nashville. Welcome to the Reality Revolution.
We return you now to your local announcer.
