Bee Yoga

A bee lands on the speaker's hand and spends time preening its legs, face, and wings in what they call "bee yoga." Fifteen minutes of morning sunlight resets your circadian rhythm, especially if you struggle with sleep. The speaker is starting a six-week challenge to build healthier morning habits.

Come. I totally forgot that I had that intro all set up to go, and Foz even made me a go-live intro, but I forgot about that. So anyway, here's my bee this morning, and it's very odd trying to do this backwards. So anyway, bee yoga. Well, I've been watching this little guy do yoga for, I don't know, at least 5 or 10 minutes. It is 7 o'clock in the morning. It's still kind of chill out here in the morning. Uh, sun is slowly coming up over the edge of the earth, you know, because that's how morning starts and all that sort of a thing. But, um, in case you don't know, it is the fall, and in the fall bees don't always make it back to their hives at night. And this little guy was sitting on my Sedum Autumn Joy. So there's another one over here, but ready? So for those of you don't know, that is a Sedum Autumn Joy. He was happily sitting there, and then I said, oh, I'll warm the little guy up a little bit, see how he um, how it goes. And, um, well, he decided to get on my hand. Well, let's just say he's been here a while now. Uh, I don't know if, uh, what do you call it, I forget, are the worker bees all men or all women? I'm not really sure. But so I've been sitting here outside watching this guy just, um, Good morning. Good morning, Mike. Um, and, uh, so yeah, you might know. Are worker bees male or female? We don't know. I don't know off the top of my head. I know they're one or the other, but I'm not sure which. So as this little guy is starting to warm up for the day, one of the things I'm just— the reason I came out here is because In the morning, one of the things you can do for yourself to get your day started is 15 minutes in the sun. And what does that do for you? Well, that helps you, uh, reset your circadian rhythm. And I don't know about you guys, but I know there's a lot of us who have challenges sleeping and that sort of stuff. So, uh, this little guy has been preening and primping, and just— he's like a little pilot, uh, in that, uh, he's cleaning his backside and then he's cleaning his face and then he's brushing his wings, and he just has all of this stuff going on. And I'm just like, huh, I wish I had the same standard morning each morning, like this little guy. It's like he's going through his little checklist of, all right, I'm gonna, you know, get my legs cleaned up, then I'm gonna get my face cleaned up, then I gotta use the backside, and then I've gotta get my wings cleaned up, and all of those things. So as I'm sitting here watching little guy, I'm just like, huh, It's like bee yoga. He wakes up, he does his little thing, all of that. So I just thought I would share because not everybody gets to watch a bee preen themselves on their hand to start the day. And honestly, this is not how I normally start my day, but it was interesting to me, so I thought I would share it to you. And to be fair, I don't know that the— how much you guys can see, especially if you're watching on a phone. Like, I know some people will watch the replay, like DJ and see the little guy. And it's not like I've got the best camera in the world, but you can see the little movements. He's like, all right, now I'm gonna do the backside. I'm gonna use my middle legs, do the middle side. And I don't know, it's just one of those things. Now, for those of you who never let animals crawl on you, does it feel weird? Yes, yes, it does, just slightly. The bee has a definite vibration to it, and so I can definitely feel each little leg, and when he starts vibrating, it's a little bit like, "Oh, please don't sting me!" But I believe that bumblebees are the ones that will not sting you unless you are crushing them, because if they sting you, they die too, so it's an absolute last resort. So here we go, a little bit of a little stretching here and there. But yeah, so depending on how you start your day, know that there's bees out there doing yoga this morning, and you too could do some stretching and, you know, think about your morning routine. What is it that helps you get going first thing in the morning? So Yeah, like I said, just wanted to share with you. And yeah, this is my morning voice. I've had some coffee, just not enough to sound normal yet. And today will be another fun day on the range with new students. And then, uh, tomorrow is the beginning of a 6-week challenge that I'm doing with Bombshells, and that is a physical mental challenge thing. I am working on having better habits, hence it seemed like a great thing to talk about, the bee yoga, because, you know, if you wake up every morning and you're one of those people who just does some routine, whether it's bee yoga or something else, then my goal is for the next 6 weeks to do the same, is get up, do something good for myself first thing in the morning, and make sure that throughout the day I'm doing good things like eating well and drinking water or drinking, uh, tea and things that will hydrate you. And then exercise and mental health is always a thing. Every single day, kind of check in and verify that you've done something that makes you happy because, you know, The bee is sitting here and the bee is happy as far as I know because A, I'm not getting stung, but B, because they didn't make it back to their hive last night, they're getting some added warmth that they wouldn't naturally have, or, you know, they'd still be sitting on a cold flower right now. So there you have it. There's bee yoga first thing in the morning. Happy Sunday and have a great rest of your day.
