Dry Fire 2023 August

Dry-fire practice requires 3,000 to 10,000 repetitions to refine trigger control. The speaker, left-handed, notices a right-low shot pattern and practices both double-action and single-action trigger pulls with a DA/SA pistol, watching for millimeter-scale sight wobble that affects accuracy.

Okay, so here's the truth. Dry firing is just work. It's something that will take you time to learn because if you've been watching, you know this is my new thing, right? You need 3,000 to 10,000 reps to create a new skill. Now, to be fair, I'm not creating a new skill. I'm trying to get better at the skill that I already have. So The thing that I noticed of all the things that I've been trying, my trigger control is the thing that needs the most work. So tonight is going to be more of the same in that looking at target, push the gun out on target, and squeeze the trigger without moving the sights, and then work on squeezing the trigger without moving the sights. Now, when you've done this for a long time, you're going to notice the millimeters that this moves while your finger is moving. Um, and what we're trying to do is so that when I come out on target, I see my sight picture, and when I move my finger, I do not move my sights. Well, that's all well and good about at this speed. However, I can still see a little wobble, and I can totally see what my target's going to look like if I pull the trigger with live ammunition. And guess what it's going to look like? My shots are going to be just like that first target I did for you guys, where they're a little bit to the right and low, because as someone told you, I'm a left-handed shooter. Well, you guys have been watching this, so in theory, you know, although lots of stuff does get— whatever you call it— transposed backwards on here. So, should you talk into your dry fire? Maybe. Because you're on video and people want to know what the heck you're doing. Should you really just focus on what you're trying to do? Oh yeah, and because I shoot a double-action single-action gun, I have to practice both. If you only shoot a single-action gun like your Glocks, Smith Wesson striker fires, SIGs, um, you don't have to do both. For me, my first shot out of the holster is going to be that double-action. Everything after that is going to be single-action because the slide will have recoiled and put this into single-action on each shot. So there you have it. Um, that is tonight's dry fire. No, I'm not gonna want to make you guys watch more and more, but that is it for tonight.
