Hi y'all, this is gonna be a really short video, so even though it's live, most of you are probably not going to catch this live. Hey, I'm Gay Joe, nice to see you, sir, ma'am, I don't even know. One of these days you're gonna tell me and then I will remember, maybe. Um, so sorry, um, what am I doing? Hi, my name is Brooke Cheney. I am a firearms instructor. I have been submitting testimony at the Hartford Legislative Building since 2011 when I submitted my first testimony on 10-round mag bans. I came from being someone who thought a 10-round mag ban was not a big deal because if they still had bullets in their gun, so what did it matter? I then later learned that a 10-round mag ban is a gun ban. Here we are, 2022. I have been to DC on a regular basis since 2017 talking to our legislators. I have been involved in many projects like the DC Project, CCDL, and others, and I am here to help. My desire is to give you the opportunity to have your voice heard here in Connecticut. If you've never testified, if you've never paid any attention to legislative sessions, I am begging you, please, it is your responsibility as a citizen of America if you enjoy your freedoms to have your voice heard. I used to think politicians had all the resources they need to make the best decisions for us. And then I learned that we are the resources that they need. Our politicians are currently blindly trying to pass laws that they think will make a difference. However, over the past decade, I have done tons of research on actual violence prevention. And guess who else has done tons of research on violence prevention? That would be the FBI. That would be the Department of Justice. That would be the Gang Violence Task Force. And guess what? They have answers. And the fact that we are not having a hearing regarding the solutions that have been proven over the past couple of decades to actually reduce violence is very distressing. So this is not a gun owner issue. This is an everybody issue. If we want our politicians to actually do the things that will make an impact, to make our safe— our streets safer, to make it so we actually reduce violence, please have your voice heard. I'm going to be available on Zoom from 3:30 to 6:30 today. If you're interested, let me know. Send me a PM, text me if you know me. Um, I am just here to serve. And I think that's it. I wanted to make this really fast. So hopefully what will happen is you are interested and you will share this wherever you can on whatever platform you've— you see this on. I am doing this on Facebook. I am doing this on YouTube. I'm doing it on my personal channel and my school channel because it is super important. We are running a race for freedom in America, and it is not about guns. It's about control. Just be clear when you hear the words gun control, this is what they're talking about. They're talking about the control. So as a taxpayer, I would like our politicians to do the things they're supposed to do and protect our interests. Whether you are a gun owner or not, you want your time and money spent on our government to go towards projects that will actually prevent gun violence. So this afternoon, again, I'm going to be available from 3:30 to 6:30 on Zoom. I meant to put the link in the description, but I forgot. So I will go to all the different places I just posted this up and throw the link there. I would love to help you out. I've been helping people since Thursday. I just want you to be aware it's super easy to be part of the political system. It's really good to have your voice heard. Your voice is important. Our politicians need to hear it. And that's all I got for you today. So I'm going to say hi to everybody who said hi. Hi, Chris. Hi, Gun Metal Guy. And hi, MK Joe. And I will see you all hopefully at the hearing tomorrow. And that's kind of it. Hope we all get some sleep. I know it's early yet, but I know it's gonna be a long day today and tomorrow. Please share. Let people know they can be part of the process. Let them know how important it is for people to stand up to be part of the process. I will. Have a good day, everybody.
