A Great Start Shooting School shows how to fix a Glock's dead trigger during dry fire practice using only a folded piece of paper. The paper acts as a dummy magazine, holding the slide slightly out of battery so the trigger cycles freely. No cost, no commercial dummy magazine needed.

All right, take 3, here we go. Here at A Great Start Shooting School, we always talk about dry fire. So dry fire is where you are moving your trigger. So with a Glock, the challenge we have is that once you've set your slide forward and you pull the trigger, it goes click. You have what's called a dead trigger. It doesn't move. So there are products out there that you can get. There's a mag reset in here. You can get a dummy magazine basically that allows you to reset, but we're going to teach you how to do this without spending money. So take a piece of paper, fold it in half, fold it in half again, and as you all know, I'm very, very technical here at A Great Start Shooting School, so fold it in half yet again. The next thing you're going to do, fold it in half lengthwise. And you are simply going to— figure out where the camera is because everything is backwards— insert it in your gun. Now, we want to be able to see our sight picture while we're dry firing, so we want to make sure this is below our sight picture. We're going to just drop the slide forward. Notice the piece of paper holds the, the slide. Slightly out of battery. And what is our result? We have a trigger that has the ability to go forward and back. So now we can dry fire to our heart's content. There you go. And we didn't have to spend money on a magazine that we may or may not have with us, but paper we should always be able to find. There you go. There's your Glock trick for today.
