In this instructional video, speakers A and B demonstrate how to safely operate a Walther PD380 that lacks an external slide‑lock. They first explain the constraints of the gun – the slide can only be locked back with an empty magazine and must be released by a "slingshot" pull. The bulk of the demo focuses on a left‑handed shooting configuration: the magazine is positioned on the shooter’s right, the grip is held with the left hand, and the right hand assists with loading and slide manipulation. Step‑by‑step, they show how to load the magazine, chamber a round, achieve a proper left‑handed grip, and fire. They then simulate a cease‑fire scenario, detailing how to unload the weapon without a slide lock: using the magazine release, extracting the chambered round, swapping in an empty magazine to lock the slide open, and finally removing the magazine. Throughout, safety is emphasized by keeping the firearm pointed in a safe direction, using the thumb and fingers to control the slide, and maintaining proper hand placement.

All right folks, we have two unique things in this video. One, we have this Walther PD380 and it does not have an external slide lock, so we are limited in how we can lock our slide back. We are also limited in how we can drop our slide. So in this video, we're going to go into that as well as look at a left-handed shooter's way to create load and unload this gun.
Alright, so we have a unique gun here. It has no slide lock externally. The only way I can lock the slide back is with an empty magazine. So we're going to go through how to load and unload this gun and what to do if a ceasefire were to be called So here we are, we're doing left-handed today on top of a gun without a mag or a slide lock. So for us left-handed people, we're going to have the configuration opposite of our right-handed compatriots. So our magazine is to the right and our gun is to the left. We only flip this over just before we are going to pick it up. So left index finger goes on the frame, right hand picks this up. Our thumb wraps around so that the V of our hand is under our slide. Last thing is our fingers wrap around the grip. Let go with our right hand and then pick up. Our right index finger is going to go on the front of our magazine. We're turning the gun while it's still pointed in a safe direction so we can see in the— into the magazine well. We're pointing this in and letting gravity take it the rest of the way and just click to gently with our fingers. Straight back up. Because there is no slide lock, the only way to drop this slide is by slingshotting. So palm here, fingers here, pull back, hear that click, just let go. Let your right hand come back to your chest. Now, finishing our grip, left thumb gets out of the way, right thumb goes on the frame. Palm covers as much of the grip as possible, fingers all together, and then we're going to wrap around the, um, while we're touching our trigger guard. And this is our grip left-handed. So a ceasefire was just called. Now I have a gun that has ammo and no slide lock. So in order to unload this gun, I'm going to need to grab the bottom here I'm going to open my fingers up so I get my thumb to the magazine release, while on the other side my fingers have a new home that is away from the trigger. Gonna drop that down. Now, next I have to get the extra piece of ammo that's in here out, so I have to grab that back, let that fall out, let that go forward, and go straight back up and down. My magazine still has something in there, so I have to get rid of that. I'm going to reload an empty magazine into here, at which point I can pull this back, it will lock open, and then I'm going to move my hands again. Magazine is out, and now I can finally put it back down. Ta-da!
