In this video, the host announces National Train a Teacher Day (June 17) and explains that the initiative provides free, voluntary training for teachers, school staff, and community volunteers to help protect children. The program is supported by organizations such as USCCA, Sabre Red, A Girl and a Gun, DC Project, and Armed Women of America. Two training sessions are offered on June 24 in Connecticut at A Great Start Shooting Schools: a morning "NRA Basics of Home Firearms Safety" class covering handgun vs. long gun distinctions, semi‑automatic vs. revolver operation, and safe storage; and an afternoon "Personal Protection Plan – Situational Awareness" class covering stress response, threat assessment, and non‑lethal self‑defense tools (pepper spray, taser). Registration requires a $25 deposit, which teachers receive back after completing the class; non‑teachers pay $25 outright. Seat availability is limited (four spots for the firearms class, six for situational awareness). The host encourages teachers, scouts, Sunday school leaders, and other child‑focused volunteers nationwide to sign up, noting that training is listed by state on the National Train a Teacher Day website. The video also mentions an upcoming Suicide Prevention Saturday event and invites viewers to watch future informational videos.

Hey everybody, today is June 17th and it is National Train a Teacher Day. Here at a Great Start Student School, I am doing National Train a Teacher Day, just not today. It's actually going to be next week, so I just want to come up on here and tell you all a little bit about it. So National Train a Teacher Day is about getting teachers free training to protect our children. Now you will see here that there is USCCA, Sabre Red, A Girl and a Gun, DC Project, and Armed Women of America all support National Train a Teacher Day. If you'd like to check out their website, it occurred to me that I totally forgot to put that into the, um, uh, not the comments. I'm gonna put it in the comments right now, but, um, I did not put it in the description. I will have to fix that. So you can go here and look at the Train a Teacher Day information. One of the things that a lot of people don't understand is it's not about firearms training. This is about educating and empowering teachers, staff, and admin that whether it's self-defense, how to use pepper spray, how to use a taser, it could also be something as simple as situational awareness, I am offering two different classes. And if we go over here to Connecticut, you will see I'm offering a 9 AM till noon NRA Basics of Home Firearms Safety, how to handle a firearm safely, and the link is below or above depending if you're watching on YouTube or Facebook. And then the mini class for the afternoon is Personal Protection Plan Situational Awareness. How we actually act in stress situations. So that's kind of it. I just figured, um, since today is the actual day of National Train a Teacher Day— it's a lot to say— um, in between classes today, that, uh, let you all know. So here's the other part of this. Um, if you are a teacher or a volunteer with our children, you can get a spot, put a $25 deposit, and if you're a teacher, when you come in and take your class, you'll get your $25 back. If, however, you are not a teacher and you would like to partake in these classes, you simply pay your $25 for the class, and that is that. Because unfortunately, I'm not sold out. I would love to be sold out for next weekend, um, regardless of whether you're a teacher or not. So here is some basic training for you. The gun safety course is simply explaining and showing you the differences between a handgun and a long gun, which are rifle and shotgun. And with handguns, we're going to talk about semi-automatic versus revolver. We're going to talk about safe storage, things like that. If you go for the afternoon class, then we are going to be talking about situational awareness, preparedness plan, things to think about that you didn't necessarily know that you need to think about. How to look at a situation from a bad guy's perspective, basically. How to not be a victim. How to make sure that you're paying attention to things that are important to keep you and those around you safe. So, hi DJ, I saw your little wee, so, you know, means you're awake. So there's that. I will see you tonight on Suicide Prevention Saturday because, you know, you're good like that. I'm pretty sure you should have the links in your email. I I sent them to you before you asked. So there is that, but double check and let me know for sure. All right. So yes, National Train a Teacher Day is today officially for on the site. However, like I said, I have other things happening today. So next weekend, the June 24th is the A Great Start Shooting Schools National Train a Teacher Day. And we have the two different sessions and no, you don't have to sign up for both. You can sign up for one or the other, The gun safety one currently, I believe, has 4 seats available left, and the afternoon one for personal protection plan is going to be 6 seats available. So anyway, go ahead and sign up for those regardless of whether you're a teacher or not. It just depends on whether you get your $25 back. That is kind of it. So want to pop in, let you all know that. I will see most of you tonight, 9 PM, for Suicide Prevention Saturday. And I think I'm going to be doing some more of these videos to help more people come and get free training if you're a teacher or volunteer. And whether you're a Boy Scout, Girl Scout volunteer, you volunteer at your local church as a Sunday school teacher, all of that counts because you're around our children, influencing our children. I will train you for free. And that's kind of that. All right, y'all, you have a good rest of your weekend., and I'm off to train some more people and graduation parties. It is graduation party season, so that's our plan. So y'all have a great evening, afternoon, whenever you're watching this, and hopefully get more teachers out there. Oh, before I forget, I'm awful at actually signing off, aren't I? If we go back to the Train a Teacher Day thing, if you are not here in Connecticut, when you go to National Train a Teacher Day, You can click on the training tab and all the training is listed here by state, right? So in Connecticut, there's Dan Buckley, Matthew Knowlton, and myself. Oh, James Ritchie also. Delaware, just whatever state you're in, you can find training for your state because even if you missed it today, you don't know if maybe they're like me where they didn't actually have a availability today and maybe they're doing it next week, or you can get on their list for the following year if you're interested in getting to do that. So yes, even if you're not here in Connecticut, you can still get Train a Teaching Day, um, stuff. All right, so now I'm really gonna go. All right, bye everybody, have a great day.
