The Grip I keep promising you all.

All right, here's how we teach grip at a Great Start Shooting School. Since rule number 2 for safe gun handling is keep your index finger off of the trigger, we're going to have the index finger have the first and only thing that touches our frame. Our left hand picks the gun up a little bit while our fingers and our thumb wrap around the back of the camera— back of the camera— back of the gun. We want to make sure we're nice and high. If there's space This is a good time to get rid of that space. For our support hand, our thumb gets out of the way. We take our other hand, point our thumbs towards the target. We start at the top of the gun again, so thumb goes on the frame, palm goes on the grip, fingers wrap around. We want to make sure our fingers are wrapping around and touching the trigger guard each time. So this way our grip looks the same every time we do it. And by doing it in pieces— 1, 2, 3— we're very likely to have the same grip each time. We're making sure on the other side that our index finger is touching our middle finger and we're not wrapped up around in the way of our trigger guard. And that's it!
