Who wants to be part of History?

In this informal livestream, Brooke Cheney, assistant director of the Connecticut branch of the DC Project, issues a short‑notice call for volunteers to travel to Washington, D.C. for a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on gun‑rights/Second Amendment issues. She explains the purpose of the trip (to attend the hearing in person as 2A advocates), outlines travel logistics (6‑hour drive each way versus a $353 flight), notes that 15‑20 seats are available in her van, and sets a contact deadline of 9:00 PM ET on July 18. Brooke requests donations (directed to dcpromptic.info with the note “money for Brooke”) to cover gas or flight costs, offers DC Project shirts, and urges viewers to share the opportunity via social media. She provides contact methods (email, Facebook, website) and emphasizes the unique chance to experience a live congressional hearing beyond televised coverage.

All right, you go lay down. The dog, he's always deciding as soon as I hit go live, he's got to do something like make noise or pant a lot. All right, so super exciting news, super short notice. Figure if I throw this out on all my streams, uh, YouTube, Facebook, all of that. Um, yeah, I haven't talked a lot today. Anyway, here's the deal. See my t-shirt? It says "Educate, not legislate." I'll show you the back. I don't know, there's a really cool logo. Wait, hold on, I have an easier way to show you my really cool logo. Ready? Ta-da! The DC Project. Um, what actually— yeah, sort of, almost. Is it gonna focus? Yes. DC Project: Move for Gun Rights. Anyway, for those of you who don't know, I am a member, uh, assistant director here in Connecticut for the Connecticut DC project. I just found out earlier this morning that we have some seats available to us this Wednesday at the Senate hearings, which is— sorry, I really wish the dog would just lie down. Good boy. Um, hi Fiona, you want to take a sick day on Wednesday, drive down to DC? Um, that's what the purpose of this post is, is, um, a bunch of ladies in these handy dandy shirts that I have. If you don't have one, I can get you one. Hop in a car, drive down to DC, go to the judiciary building, uh, go to the Senate here, go to the Senate building, go to the hearing, sit there and actually listen to the entire hearing live and in person. What does this mean? Well, number one, you need to contact me directly by 9:00 PM Eastern Tomorrow night, which is July 18th. That'll be Monday night. Um, and oh yeah, so sorry, I'm saying hi to things and you don't all know what I'm talking about. So Fiona is on Facebook side. Um, she's got meetings. Well, I have the perfect excuse now to cancel my dentist appointment because I really don't want the filling anyway. So that is what I am doing. Um, I've looked at it a couple different ways. It depends on how many people are willing to go. So just so you have more of an idea of what this is going to mean, it's a 6-hour drive one way, maybe 6 and a half hours, you know, stop for potty breaks, that sort of thing. Um, hello PNW. And, um, then at the building and get into the judiciary should start around 10 AM on time-ish, give or take, and it will be done by around 1, and then we'll head back up. Now, if I'm the only one that goes, I will probably fly. However, if I can get 2 or 3 or 5 of you lovely ladies to come with me, because that's how many seats there are in my van, um, it will be an amazing 2-way road trip. And you don't have to be a DC Project member yet. However, you're going to be wearing DC Project shirts, um, and we're all going to sit together, and you're going to meet some of the other girls and the ladies that are from all over. Uh, just to give you an idea of how my brain works, um, we are going to— I did two things, right? I'm trying to figure out how are we gonna do this trip. Well, if we fly— sorry, I keep looking over there, which you can't see, right? But if we're gonna fly, it's an hour and a half. Oh, and that's way too small for anyone who's looking on anything, so an hour and 15 minutes. But you all know how flight you get there an hour before, all of that. Um, in that, I looked at a flight for tomorrow night— or not tomorrow night, sorry, Tuesday night at 7:30— and that would be $353 if I fly. Um, so this is the part where, um, people, people have suggested ask for donations at that point in time if I end up flying down there. I would think it would be so much greater if I could get some of you ladies to come with me and we can do a road trip. Now if we make it a road trip, and then we're talking 6 and a half hours on the road one way, 6 and a half hours on the road back up again, I would be leaving as late as possible on Tuesday, get an inexpensive hotel— shouldn't be crazy expensive— but the idea is to go ahead and get as many of us down there as possible. I believe we have 15 to 20 seats available to us. And I am one person and I will not fill them that quickly. So I need you to share. And so if anyone from Massachusetts wants to drive down here to me and then meet me here, if there's folks in New York that need me to pick them up, obviously that makes our trek a little bit longer. But if we can meet somewhere around 95, if there's a commuter lot or something like that, even in New Jersey. Now I know Teresa is our, our New Jersey girl, but, and she's going to try to get people to go, but it's super short short notice. I realize it's unlikely. Like I said, I'm canceling my dentist appointment, not that I was looking forward to it. But this is a great opportunity if you've never been to DC, if you've never been to an actual hearing versus watching it on TV and getting to hear what the media wants to show you versus seeing what happens and how it all works. This will be my second or third one, second or third, Yeah, I'm not even sure, but I really think it's an amazing opportunity. So here I am offering it out to all of you guys. I have sent an email out to all of my DC Project girls here in Connecticut, and I am hoping that y'all will call me, message me, um, like I said, donate to DC Project and just say money for Brooke in your donation notes, um, to fly me down or pay for gas or something like that, because we all do this for free. This is volunteering our time to be 2A advocates. So GWebs has done a really good job of reminding me to ask for money. So I'm actually going to do it this time. All right. That is it. How much, what is that? 6 minutes. So hopefully people watch that and you can tell how hot and sweaty it is here in Connecticut today because that's why I'm so shiny. All right. I will see you all later. If you don't know how to get ahold of me, hey, Shmeggy, how are you? If you don't know how to get ahold of me, you can always go to my website and email me from there or message me from there. Um, pretty much on Facebook, it's super easy. Just look up Brooke Cheney. And I think that's everything y'all need. Oh, dcpromptic.info. Yeah, that would be good for real. If you want to go and donate, uh, go to dcpromptic.info and you can donate there. Okay, for real, I am dying. I gotta turn the air conditioning back on because I turned it off because it makes too much noise. All right. Thanks guys. Please share, like, uh, Instagram this, whatever you can to help get the word out.
