Just Frickin Do It!

Bryn Drescher argues that doing badly beats not doing at all. She learned to style her hair, solve logic puzzles, and prep for the LSAT by accepting her first attempts would be terrible. Andy Jenkins said it best: perfection is the lowest standard of achievement. Doing is the highest.

Hey guys, this is Bryn. I just want to check in and give you a quick learn that I had recently that I want to share with you. I have always been a person that has said that I can't do my own hair, I'm not good at logic puzzles, I don't like to do Sudoku, I even hate Guitar Hero. The reason I wanted to mention that is I've never been a person that likes to do things I'm not good at, period. So when people would play guitar here, I was always like, "No, no, you play, you play." Well, everyone else is having fun. I'm like, "Well, I wouldn't be any good at it." So I'm sitting over there not having fun because I'm not participating. Well, I want to encourage you to get in there and challenge yourself to just do. There's a saying that I recently heard from Andy Jenkins, the Video Boss. Hey, Andy, I love your videos. But he said, "Perfection is the lowest standard of achievement. Doing is the highest." And I'm here to tell you that it's so true.. My little sis came to live with me recently and she's been, she's been flat ironing her own hair forever. And I really learned that I could do my own hair. Now the first time it came out, it wasn't the greatest. So the next thing I want to leave you with is your first is going to be your worst. But the next time I did it, it was so much better. I used to do logic puzzles a long time ago. There was some time I was going to take the LSAT. Didn't think I was any good at them. Now I'm solving them. Sudoku didn't make any sense. Now I'm solving the puzzles, even the really hard ones. Okay, USA Today, I don't know. I mean, I'm sure there's some Sudoku experts out there that would disagree with me, but my point is, do it. Just get out there and do it. It'll make a difference. And it doesn't matter if you're good at it, dare to suck. Just get out there and dare to suck. It makes such a difference. And as I'm foraying into my own business and taking challenges on, I'm now just putting myself to the limit and knowing that Perfection doesn't matter. It's all about doing. So get out there and just do it.
