Cameron Herold tells C-level leaders that solving every problem kills your effectiveness. Instead of absorbing issues, delegate and let your team own problems. Protecting your time and growing people through responsibility is how you actually lead.

One brutal truth that nobody ever talks about when you're a COO of a company or even a CEO of a company is that your time can get absorbed and sucked up by every single person in the company, every single problem in the company. It can get sucked up by growth, by strategy, by meetings, really by emails, by Slack messages. And you have to be very, very good at protecting your time, which means very good at setting boundaries, very good at growing people. Really have to get good at not letting your employees and team members put the monkey on your back. So the job of the leader is to actually grow people, to get results through people, and to not absorb all of the problems, all of the feelings, all of the stress, and all of the work that needs to be done by others. That's the big thing that I think all C-level executives need to get a lot better at is actually getting results through others and not taking the work upon yourself just because you can.
