Did you grow up with parents who nagged at you or shouted at you? Maybe you now hear their words coming out of your mouth. And also, I want to make an educated guess: when you held your innocent little baby when they were born, did you ever think to yourself, "Ah, it won't be long now before I'll be nagging and shouting at them to get dressed or to put their shoes on"? I suspect not. None of us plan to be that way. So I'm going to tell you 3 reasons why nagging and shouting is not a good idea. Now, this isn't to make you feel guilty, but it's really helpful to think about it. When, number 1, when we nag and shout, children will tune us out. They get used to the fact that we're going to reach that certain pitch and before they pay attention, or maybe they really carry on not paying attention. I know, I know, it drives us crazy, but it really is true. Number 2: when we shout, it damages our connection with our kids. It makes them either feel fearful or resentful of us, and neither are helpful for getting them to cooperate and getting them to listen. Also, you'll soon find, or maybe you have already, that they mirror us, they model us, and they start shouting at us too because they're watching and they're listening to us all the time. So what we do, they do, and what we say, they say. So I really want to show you that it doesn't have to be this way. There is an alternative way of interacting with children. When you use my 5-step GREAT method, you will be amazed by how easy it is to stay calm, to just ask once and get children to listen and cooperate. So I want to invite you to join my Zoom workshop next Thursday, the 7th of April, 8 PM British Summer Time. Come live or watch the replay. I'll be walking you through the GREAT method. We'll be on Zoom together. I'll be taking your questions about your own situations and, and talking things over with you. It really is a gift to you and it's a gift to your children, but it's also a gift to children in Ukraine because I'm giving all the profits to UNICEF. So invite your friends, I can't wait to see you there, and yeah, let's just learn, you know, together the great method and getting your children to listen without ever needing to shout or nag.
