When kids ignore you, it stings because you expect to be heard. Two things help: get eye contact first by engaging positively, and use a tone you'd want to hear yourself.

Do you have this? Your kid completely ignores you when you ask them to do something and it drives you crazy. As adults, we're used to being listened to. A work colleague, a team member, or even our partner. We might ask them to do something for us and we expect them to listen. Then we have a child who is supposed to respect us, and when we ask them something, they ignore us and it drives us nuts. We think, how can this be happening? 'How come my kid's so rude?' 'How did I produce a child who ignores me?' And that fuels a rage inside us that bubbles up, often completely unexpectedly. Look, here's 2 tips. 1, get eye contact by engaging in a positive way with your child before you ask them to do something. And 2, adjust your tone of voice to one that you'd want to hear. Could you try this? Drop a yes below if you think it's worth trying and if you'd like to learn more, and I'll send you a DM.
