A year and a half into entrepreneurship, a program alumnus describes feeling stuck between pushing forward and holding back. They've grown visible skills through their work and audience, used the program as exposure therapy for social media, but struggled to find a business model that matches their energy and values.
What has this experience been like for you? A loaded question, I'm sure. But you've been at it for a year and a half. You've gone through multiple different niches. You have been through. You're in an alumni program of mine now. You've. You've been through a lot of my coaching and resources. What's keeping you going? What has been so helpful for you?
Yeah, I mean, I think that obviously I value identity development as well as money. Right. And so the process of becoming an entrepreneur and, like, learning all these different pieces, I've been able to sit back and be like, I am still growing. I. There are really clear skills I can literally see because of the things I produce. Right. And the data that I get back and people joining my groups or people interacting and having, like, wonderful conversations with people. Yeah. Or doing live presentations on the Internet. Like, terrifying. Right. And so I think that, Yeah, I think when I started working with you, I, I, I knew I was resistant to marketing in a really weird, real way, and I kind of brought that to you. And, like, it was clear. I was like, I'm hitting, like, I have a foot on the gas, but I totally also have a foot on the break. And part of that is, like, totally me of wanting to be as authentic as I can. And I think there's a way to, like, try it on and be like, I'll just do what someone else tells me to do, and. And then, then it can be their fault if it doesn't work, you know?
Yeah.
So for me, I knew I was going to be resistant. I wanted to, like, get more comfortable with social media. And I knew that your program was, like, basically going to be exposure therapy for that. Yeah.
Yeah.
And I was like, as long as I'm safe enough and I'm, like, authentic enough, like, good things will come. And so I think continuing even despite, like, feeling low, that momentum wasn't growing at certain times, like, taking a break, then putting things down and enjoying the growth in the skills, the growth in, like, the connection and the belief that, like, in these programs, there's, like, so many interconnected themes and reasons why I'm trying to do it. And it's just about kind of finding that match with the market, needing it.
Yeah.
And also the match with, like, I could have stuck with any one of these niches for a certain amount of time. And it was like, how much energy do I have to keep doing this? And is it. What's the, like, what's the business model I want, which I think people don't ask themselves enough, right?
