A short YouTube monologue (by Carly Hill) arguing that therapists do not need a separate coaching certification to begin coaching. The speaker explains she has a coaching certification but learned the same skills in graduate training and clinical certifications, and emphasizes clients care that you can solve their problem, not whether you hold a coaching certificate.

You do not need a coaching certification in order to get started with coaching. Let's talk about this for a second. I have a coaching certification. I love taking certifications. I didn't learn anything in my coaching certification that I did not already learn in grad school or in any post grad certifications that I took. If you want to take a certification because it's going to make you feel more confident or it's within your niche and it's like an extra certification that's going to help you have more expertise in your area, by all means, take a coaching certification. But if you think that you need a coaching certification in order to coach, like it's a prerequisite, you do not. Okay, nobody cares about your certification credentials. They do not. They care. And they need to know that you can solve their problem. They need to like you, they need to trust you, and they need to know you. But more importantly, they need to know that you can solve their problem. That's what they care about. Not if you have a coaching certification. You are already a licensed clinician. Most likely that is enough.
