EP0014 Your First $1K Sell From Content

Cauveé breaks down four ways to hit your first $1K in sales: one $997 product, two $597 sales, four $300 sales, or ten $100 ones. He pairs each tier with formats like courses and consulting, stressing that perceived value must far exceed price and sales skill is what actually moves the needle.

Today's episode is titled Your First $1K from Content. Now, before we even go deeper, I want to let everyone listening— for those who are seasoned, we have 3 levels where we see entrepreneurs and creators. You're either early, you're seasoned, or you're scaled, right? You're one of those three areas. And for some of you, you guys did $1K, like you don't even— like $1K is like a dollar or less to you, and I understand that. Understand that we will have another episode on a $10K, another episode on $100K, and then another episode on a million, right? So I don't want you guys to be like, oh, like this is only for people that are just getting started. No. We serve the whole ecosystem of creators and entrepreneurs. And if you're just getting started, or if $1,000 USD makes you feel uncomfortable, great, because this episode is for you. Now, for those that have also done this, doesn't necessarily mean you won't get some nuggets out of this piece of, of content as well. But let's talk about that, that 1K, okay? Whether it is a million, $100,000, $10,000, $1,000, Cauveé Inspiration Engineer Engineer is always of the mindset, I gotta reverse engineer the goal backwards. Okay, so for my first $1K, a few ways I could do it. I could create a 1K product, and now I just need one sale, which a common number you'll see in the marketplace is $997. After you add access to it and admin fees and some other fees, things like that, you're right at the $1,000 threshold. So one way to do that is to come up with a really cool program, course, uh, actual— some people do coaching. I don't recommend you do your coaching at this price, but something that's digital that is highly impactful, $997. You create it one time. Okay, option 2, and there's plenty of options. I'm just letting and giving you some ideas to kind of get you rolling., right? Option 2 would be then to do half of that, because now you need 2 sales in a month. So what could you create for $497, $597, and you sell it twice, right? Digital product. Again, I wouldn't recommend a coaching product at this container, but what could you put together that would give them the value of $1,000. And something I didn't say, if I'm selling someone a $997 product or whatever I'm selling, like, it doesn't really matter, I'm going to make sure that it's like 7 times that, 5 times that. Like, the amount of value that you're getting is way more than what you spend in cash, right? So that's just me. Doesn't necessarily mean you have to do it that way. Recommended. But if I'm going to sell a $597 product, I might give you $1,000 in value. Value is always subjective, and it's always going to come down to your ability to sell it. Okay, crappy products sell, like that's a reality. So being that that does happen, I wouldn't recommend you try to follow suit, but being that it does happen, I'm saying that to say is it's always subjective, and your ability, your skill level, or your team's skill level to sell these products is also something to keep in mind. All right, but back to our main point. I'm gonna be like, all right, what is something that I can sell where I only got to do it twice in a month, right? And it's $597. It could be some digital product. Maybe it's, uh, a course with attachments where you're gonna also do like a little bit of mastermind training in a, in a group to where you'll do 1,000 people and get on a webinar. And, you know, for that $597, everybody can get on that group call and boom, whatever that is, right? But some kind of digital product, $597. Okay, I can come up with a $300 course, and now we just need to sell 4 of those in a month. Okay, and maybe the $300 product is a consulting session. I'm going to consult you. For me, we would do a $300 consulting session. I mean, I used to do like— like, there, I've gone through evolutions, right? There was a time where $397 an hour was a lot of money to me. And I was like, whoa. And then it was like, man, then it was $397 for 30 minutes, and it was like, okay, whoa. And it was like, man, for what I know and what I can do for people— and this didn't just, like I said, happen overnight, guys— then it was like $397 for like 15 minutes, and then it kept going, right? So I say that to say, whatever makes you feel the whoa, wherever you're like, man, whoa, I don't even know if I can do that. I'm nervous about doing that. That's where you start. Just make sure that what you are selling is worth at least $1,000 or $1,500 for $300. It's like, oh boom, this is a no-brainer, right? That's how you want to be thinking about this. And now you got 4 times to do it. And then the last one that I want to give you is $100, 10 times in a month. Okay, now the lower you go in price, okay, the lower you go in price— there's other, uh, episodes that we have where we talk about volume. You're really, really positioning volume. 10 sales is 10 sales. What I've learned over time is the price is never the— I don't want to say the price is never the issue. Let me think how I want to say that. The price is never the swaying factor. Once you get the skill and you can sell, you can sell, okay? It doesn't matter. I was selling degrees for $55,000 that people were paying, and they don't get it for 4 years, but they got to pay the money, you know, pretty much they gotta do the steps to pay today. I mean, for the most part, right? There's tons of programs where, um, you've got to make a serious commitment and makes people uncomfortable. So, you know, there's different ways of getting around that, but once you have the skill— that's really what we're talking about, is the skill to get them to a point to where not only do they understand this is the right step and the next best step for them you can also solve their challenges and problems, or objections they call it, uh, which is like usually them just having like trying to figure it out. Like, I'm trying to understand how this is going to solve my problem. Okay, but at $100, to me, I need that to be automated. Like, I don't physically want to, or my team taking their time to sell a $100 unit. Like that's basically a hoodie, right? A nice hoodie, nice fabric. That's what we're talking about. So a coaching product, no. A course, for me, no. I think you're too valuable for that. I think at $100, maybe I'll put you into some kind of, uh, program where, um, you'll get like just some course— like, just some courses, no coaching, right? Just like, like, and they'll be short courses, they'll be like micro courses, right? I'll have maybe, uh, the actual program, let's say, is like 30 hours for you to complete, right? And the 30-hour program, let's say, is $1,200, right? $1,200 to $1,700, whatever. I might give you a micro, just a taste of it, where I'm not going to solve everything that I solve in the 30 hours, I'll solve only an hour, or maybe 2 hours, or maybe 10%, 3 hours. And that 3 hours, you won't get the whole problem solved, you'll just get a very small piece and a taste to then upsell you to the whole thing. Okay, give you— solve one problem of that. I might do that for $100, right, in a course, in a digital course that we can run ads and then somebody can just buy, like, oh, I want that, I want to know how that works. Okay, boom. Okay, you can really do whatever it is you want to do. I'm not telling you, you know, what you can't do, or I'm telling you based on the industry of a creator and an entrepreneur, this is how it works amongst the world. And we're pretty much talking about from an educational standpoint, but if you're a gamer or if you're in entertainment or if you're a streamer, things like this you might have to package something very differently and study your industry as to what can you put together that other gamers and people in your ecosystem would invest that would see $100 as like, oh, that's, that's, you know, no money at all. Okay, and I want to go with this idea for my gamers and my streamers out there, right? People pay a lot of money, $7 to $12 just to change a skin on a character. The characters in the game, and they want to put a different shirt on the character. They don't want this shirt that he's wearing, so they'll pay $12, $7 to $12, just to buy a skin. That's wild to me. That is wild. Okay, people do it all day long. My nephews, they're into all this, getting the skins, customizing the gun. You might spend $100 on finishing customizing your character. Like, real talk, okay? So I'm just saying, you know, think about it in different ways of value depending on the ecosystem and the industry that you're in, because that is also relevant. You have to understand your customer. You have to understand what's a lot of money to them, right? If you're a musician, $100 needs to be more on the premium side. Why? Because musicians— it's tougher for musicians. It just is, and they have to do a lot more things. So you'll want to think about how you're monetizing for your audiences, all right? And so with that stated, I just wanted to give you some examples and to get you thinking about what this might look like as you go for your first $1K, all right? And I am encouraging you, I am supporting you to start masterminding ideas, start looking at other competitors that offer similar things that you offer and what offering for $1,000? How can you be different? What way do you want to go about it? And get right to it. It's your boy Cauveé. I love you, I appreciate you, and until the next time, you already know what it is. Peace!
