A monologue on self-declaring expertise and building a coaching business. The speaker maps stages from novice to influencer and shares strategies for establishing authority in content creation.
Well, welcome to this module. This module is called Become an Expert or BX as I like to say. And the reason is, is because so many of you guys may have content, you may have intellectual property, you may have some ideas, you may have some concepts, but until you literally step out on a platform and become an expert, then nobody's really going to pay attention to you or listen to you. Now, we're going to be using our workbook a lot today. In fact, we'll be in on page nine, phase one, which is called Be calm and an Expert. So you guys may want to grab that and get that. If you don't have the workbook, you should see a downloadable file right over on the right of the screen where you can do that. But right at the top of the page, there is a quote in there that I like to say. And I want to make sure that you understand this, that no one is going to declare you an expert, purchase your products, or listen to you until you self declare yourself as an expert. Now think about that. No one. In fact, I want you to just scream that little phrase out to the mountaintops. No one is going to declare you an expert. No one's going to purchase your products, and no one's even going to listen to you until you self declare yourself as an expert. And in this module, what you're going to learn is you're going to learn how to market yourself in a way that shatters imposter syndrome and gives your products the confidence that you're the right person for, for the job. Now think just for a moment. If you were the people who were paying you and those people, when they saw you or they heard you or they looked at you online or whatever, if they didn't see any level of expertise there, chances are they're not going to validate you and say you're an expert. And so take my money. However, if you start the conversation with I am, and then you tell them what you are, now what you've done is you've planted a seed in their mind that you are an expert. You're beginning to build a platform that you're an expert. So now what you're doing is you're telling them, hey, you need to listen to me. Now let's go back in my story. Several Years ago, for 19 years, I was a pastor of a church, okay? And for several of those years, I was the teaching pastor, the lead pastor, the guy who stood up on a stage and opened up the scripture, taught the scripture, gave hope, gave inspiration and Made very complex things simple. Now let me ask you a question. Did I know more about the Bible than anybody else in the room? The answer is no. Was I the best communicator? The answer is no. There are probably people in there better than me, but what did I have that they didn't have? Well, what I had was I had a platform. And because I had a platform, people paid me to speak and everybody else basically paid to hear me speak. And that's the principle I want to put in your mind. If you have a platform, when you self declare yourself as an expert. Now all you have to do is build a platform. And that platform is what elevates you above everyone else and tells the world that hey, listen to me because I can help you. And so you have to self declare as an expert and you have to begin building your platform. So see when I had the stage, here's what did not happen. When I was on stage and I stood behind the podium and I grabbed the good book and I started speaking, some old guy in the back didn't raise their hand and say, hey, excuse me sir, well what qualifies you to teach me? No, it didn't say that because the platform did the work. The platform said that I was an expert, therefore the platform did the work. So when you self declare yourself an expert in whatever field it is you're self declaring, then the very next step is you have to begin building your platform. And as you build a platform, just like I'm on right now, nobody asks why you're the right person to do it. They just assume because you self declared and because you have a platform that you are what you say you are. And that's why I'm in here today speaking in this particular module. And people literally all around the world have paid good money to hear me speak and to hear me teach and take the teaching that I have implemented in their life so they can get a result. Why? Because I've taken time to declare myself as an expert and to build a platform. I. So Chad, what are the most two important functions of building a coaching business? Well I just came to you. Number one, declare yourself an expert. Number two, build a platform. If you self declare yourself an expert and build a platform, you are golden. You are good to go. That's really all that you need in order to get started. Now I'm going to share my screen here and I'm going to show you a concept of a flow, if you will, of what you're going to have to go through once you self declare yourself as an expert. Okay? So once you self declare yourself as an expert. Let me pull up my screen here. There are some phases that you go through, okay? So the first phase is what we call the novice. Okay? So the first phase is what we call the novice. Okay? Now what is a novice? A novice is someone who has a good idea, they don't know a whole lot about anything. I'm seeing. You can't see my screen here. So. One moment, let me try this again. Share content, that's what I'm looking for. Okay, so it's an. It's a novice. Okay? So we all start right here with the novice. Now, a novice is basically someone who has a good idea, they don't know a whole lot. So what they do is they get some nerve and they start, okay? And once they start, then they move to the level that we call the amateur. Now what is an amateur? An amateur is someone who knows enough to be dangerous, but that's about it, okay? They may have made a little bit of money in their coaching program, but they don't know a whole lot. In fact, an amateur is the same word that we use for sophomore. Okay? So if you have a sophomore, you know, you're in 10th grade or you're in the second year of college, you're a sophomore. And that word, sophomore is a hybrid word which basically means wise fool, Sophia. Okay? Which is wise and moroni, which is where we got our English word, moron. A wise fool or a wise moron, okay? And that's the problem with amateurs. Most amateurs stay stuck right here in this particular level because they think they know a lot, but they really don't. So what you have to do is you have to push past this and you have to get to the level where we're trying to get you. And that's the level of expert level, okay? An expert. An expert is someone who knows something, okay? This is, this is what you know. Now, there's three more levels. We're not going to spend a lot of time on that because mid ticket mastery isn't designed to do this. But the next level after this is what we call an authority. An authority is someone who. So if an expert is someone who knows something, an authority is someone who's known for knowing something. And then finally you have what we call an influencer, okay? An influencer is someone that teaches people at every level, okay? And they're not, they're, they're passing authority. They're past an expert. They have following, okay? Now what's interesting is you can jump directly from novice to influencer if you want to. You know, everybody with a good solid viral video video knows that. Okay. But there are plenty of people with plenty of followings who don't know anything. So if you're going to make significant sustainable money, you need to go through the flow. Now, you said, Chad, there are six phases, and I only see five on here. That's right, because in between authority and influencer is one that most of us can achieve. Most of us can't become an influencer. Like, we can't become a Tony Robbins. We can't become an Oprah Winfrey. You know, we could, but most of us won't. So we've created this thing called a micro influencer. A micro influencer is basically a big fish in a small pond. This is where you have influence over a small group of people. So when I first got into the. When I first got into the coaching world, I didn't know a whole lot about anything. Okay. I was. I was a novice and worked a little bit, got into the amateur phase and created a Facebook group, self declared myself as an expert. Lots of people started coming and I started teaching those particular people. And what happened was before too long, I added enough value to that particular group as an expert that they began telling people about me, which very quickly propelled me to authority. So remember, expert is someone who knows something. Authority is someone who is known for knowing something. Okay, then a micro influencer then is when the people in your tribe, when the people in your tribe think you're big stuff, and when the people in your tribe think you're big stuff, they're like, oh, my gosh, you got to come hear this guy. Oh, my gosh, you got to come see this guy. Well, I was able to elevate to micro influencer relatively quickly. And once you get to that phase of micro influencer, then pretty good things can happen. Pretty good things to have can happen to you. So. But you have to self declare yourself an expert and then build yourself a platform. And as that platform grows, so goes you. Now, inside of the ticket mastery. We're not going to get into a book or anything like that. We do that in other programs. But if the word authority, if you think about that, the first six letters of the word authority is author. Is author. And the way you become known for knowing something is, is you begin taking what you know and putting it in writing. And there's very. There's lots of different ways to do that. I'm going to give you a little hint right here, and then other modules will come back to it. So, for instance, right now I'm teaching, okay? And this is being recorded. And you guys are watching this. Most of you are watching this on demand, okay? And what I can do is I can take this teaching. I can have it transcribed, like on a program called Rev.com and then I can take that and I can have it edited. And now with Chat GPT, we can even do it right in Chat GPT, and then I can begin publishing that material. And that publishing of that material makes me an author, therefore, very quickly helps me become an authority or an authority, okay? And so that's the way it goes. So you start with novice and you move to amateur, then you go to expert, then you become authority, and eventually a micro influencer, if you're really lucky, an influencer, okay? That would be awesome. But we teach you in this program to start in the middle. Start at expert by self declaring yourself as an expert.
