QuickCoaching 02 Ideation To Activation

A coach breaks down why ideas stay stuck in your head. Perfectionism and fear kill momentum, but launching fast and iterating beats waiting for perfect. Get it out there, then make it better.
To go from ideation to launch, there's a few things that really, really hit us. Number one is because it's just an idea, the idea is not mature in our mind right now. So the idea is wishy washy. It changes often. Second is we don't believe that anybody's gonna buy it. And so we try to do what's called a value add or we try to add a lot of value to the idea to try to make it a little bit more valuable so people can would buy it. And what that does then is it puts us in a sense of perfectionism. So now we feel like idea has got to be perfect before we launch it. Then what happens? Life happens. And then procrastination steps in and we never get to this point. You have an idea for your business, okay? You know, maybe you've got a product that you're trying to get out, or maybe you have an ebook or a, maybe you have a book that you've written and it's just stuck right here in idea mode, okay? And you tell some people about it and they get really excited, okay? And you start doing a bunch of work and you're getting ready to get here. And this next one right here is launch. But you can't ever seem to get here. You can't ever seem to get it off the ground right here, okay? You can't get it to launch, okay? Because you're stuck in ideation mode. Because what happens is to go from ideation to launch, there's a few things that really, really hit number. One is because it's just an idea, the idea is not mature in our mind right now. So the idea is wishy washy. It changes often. Second is we don't believe that anybody's going to buy it. And so we try to do what's called a value add where we try to add a lot of value to the idea to try to make it a little bit more valuable so people would buy it. And what that does then is it puts us in a sense of perfectionism. So now we feel like our idea is going to be perfect before we launch it. Then what happens? Life happens. And then procrastination steps in. And we never get to this point. In fact, most of us, if we were honest. Let me get up. Oh, I don't have. My red marker is missing. Most of us, if we were honest, we never get to this point from ideation to activation because of perfection and procrastination and fear, okay? We never get from here. And so if you Come over here. Many of you guys may be asking, well, Chad, how do you launch a product? Because of those of you who know me, we. When I get an idea in my head, I go to launch immediately. Because what I know is if you come back over to the board, what I know is the amount of energy that it takes to go from ideation to launch. Okay? This is where all of your energy is spent. This is where a lot of your money is spent right here. Going from ideation to launch, right? We spend a lot of emotional energy, a lot of financial energy. We expend a lot of relational energy right here trying to get it from ideation to launch. But what I know is, after coaching 2,300 people in 51 countries and six continents of the world, what I know is, is my customers, my clients who've been able to launch, even though they spend a lot of time and energy here, once they launch, then they can accelerate. Okay, accelerate. And they can accelerate relatively quickly, but the majority of the energy is spent right here. So what I say is stop spending energy on the launch. Just go from ideation to launch very quickly, and then you can perform perfect later. You can perfect later. And once you're not spending any money or not any money, once you're not spending any energy on launching your product, you can then channel those resources and reallocate them to perfecting your product. But if all I'm doing is spending time creating and designing, trying to go from ideation to activation, then I'm never going to get that product off the ground.
