Hi, I'm Dr. Tenisofsky, the medical dermatologist at Allure Medical Spa. Fraxel is a resurfacing laser that your provider may have recommended to you in order to treat acne, scarring, fine lines and photo aging, enlarged pores or uneven skin pigmentation. Depending on what we're treating, it may take more than one session with a Fraxel laser to reduce any discomfort you may have during the procedure. We usually use a numbing cream to apply to your skin that we're treating. Typically for the face, it takes about an hour in total with the numbing cream and then the actual procedure itself. For darker skin types, we usually prep the skin two weeks in advance with a topical bleaching cream to prevent any post inflammatory hyperpigmentation that olive skinned individuals may get.
