Foreign. I'm Dr. Tenasofsky, the medical dermatologist at Allure Medical Spa. What you can expect after Fraxel Laser most commonly is redness and swelling. The average downtime is up to five days, but however the time may vary per patient. You'll also experience rough and dry skin and we recommend that you use a very light moisturizer since several times a day during the first few days or so. Make sure you use sunscreen to prevent any increased likelihood to have a sunburn. Patients who are more prone to acne may also develop an acne flare up. Let your provider know as this is something we can usually treat through small little whiteheads called milia may also form after the procedure. This commonly resolves with continued use of your skin care regimen, which includes a retinol. If you frequently get cold sores, make sure you tell your provider we will likely give you a prescription for an antiviral medication in order to prevent or treat a flare up of cold sores after the laser procedure. I'm Dr. Tennisofsky, the medical dermatologist at Allure Medical Spa and thanks for watching.
