We weren't putting women who were in menopause 10 or 15, 20 years into menopause, starting on a strong synthetic sex steroid. But this led to a wide abandonment of the use of hormone replacement therapy in women. And probably one of the biggest negative consequences in women's health care of the last century was abandoning treatment of menopause for fear of causing disease. Now, when we start looking back at the information more intently, because it's been out 20 years, we identify that women who were started on the hormone replacement therapy, even these strong synthetic hormones, within six to 10 years of menopause had about a 40% reduction in cardiovascular events and cardiovascular death.
