These platelets are generally a little smaller than a typical cell. They circulate in your body, and they are designed to heal things. They have three key growth factors that stimulate repair of tissues, which is why we might use it in certain degrees of arthritis and even in some things like tendon tears and rotator cuff tears and that sort of thing. So platelets are the cellular structures that cause healing. So when you have a cut, the platelets rush in, they give out growth factors called vegf, that's vascular endothelial growth factors, TGF transform factor in pdgf, platelet derived growth factor that basically causes cells to migrate in stem cells in particular and have them differentiate in the proper tissue.
