Dr. Charles Mok explains how preventative Botox works and describes the structural changes that happen as we age: bone loss, connective tissue breakdown, and fat loss in the face. He covers common filler materials like silicone and autologous fat, and shows which areas lose volume first, including the temples, under-eyes, and midface.

Filler, ideally, is used to restore loss volume. The first fillers, actually, they use things like silicone and paraffin and your own fat. As we age, our faces change structurally. We lose bone mass and we lose some connective tissue and we lose fat in our face. As this happens, our faces start to get a little hollow. We see temple hollowing, hollowing underneath the eyes, hollowing of the jowls. The face starts descending in these fillers. We can put those in areas where you've lost volume. Just kind of restore your rounds. We call the Magic Lift, where we restore the temples, the under eyes, the mid face. If some people want to have a little bit fuller lips, we augment the lips.
