A clinician walks through how stem cells from fat tissue get banked for future use. The old way meant processing everything in-clinic with enzymes and centrifuges. Now fat gets shipped to American Stem Cell Banking in Florida, where cells are isolated in a sterile lab, expanded, and stored long-term.

There's individual clinics that have their own lab where they harvest the stem cells out of the fat cells. We have been doing that for years. We'd use an enzyme and an incubator, and we would add the enzyme in, incubate the fat, and then the stem cells will be broken loose, and we centrifuge it and take the stem cell. It was really a complicated process, took a long time. What we're doing now is much easier on us and on the patient, is we go ahead and liposuction the fat. We ship it to a lab called American Stem Cell Banking in Florida, and they do that for us. They have a lab at stem sterile. They take the stem cells out of the fat tissue, discard the fat tissue. Then they expand the stem cells, or as they grow them, and then they bank them. You can bank them for the rest of your life.
