Short tutorial video (published Oct 22, 2014) that shows two ways to find a webpage's meta description: (1) manually open the page source in a browser (Chrome example), use the find box for the term "description" and read the meta description tag; and (2) install the SEOquake browser add-on and open SEOquake → Page Info to view the page's meta description. The narrator demos both methods using pinchofyum.com as the example site and notes browser-specific entry points (right-click → View Page Source).

Really quick video explaining how to find a page's meta description. So I'm going to go to pinchofyum.com there's two ways we're going to show you. One is a little bit more manual and the other is a little bit easier, but it requires that you install an add on. So first, the more manual way, we're going to go to pinterevm.com, i'm going to right click and this is in Chrome, and I'm going to say View Page Source. Now it's going to be a little bit different depending on your browser, but you're always going to want to search for this option for page source. When I open that up, what I'm going to do is I'm going to say command F on my keyboard in the top right, you can see that gives me a little search option and I'm just going to say description. So I'm going to type that in and then it's going to show me the different areas where a description shows up on this page. And you can see right here, right at the top, it says meta description and it shows me the content. This is actually the meta description for this page. If I went to an actual blog post, clicked on it, look, let that load, and did the same thing, right click save you page source. Excuse me, and then say Description. It's going to do the same thing. It's going to show the meta description. So that's a great way to quickly find the meta description, but a little bit easier way, a little bit less manual is to use an add on. And the one that I'm going to recommend you use is called Seoquake. So you can search Seoquake plugin or Add on. And, and this is going to be a plugin that you can use for lots of different browsers. But we're going to look for the Chrome one because that's what we're using. I'm going to click on that, then I'm going to say free. Click on free. And that will add it. And you can see up in the top right here, it's added the add on. So let's go back to that page that we're looking at, the homepage. It's going to have this little toolbar here. I don't like that. So I'm going to click out of it. But what I want to do is click on the SEO Quake icon and then I'm going to say is Page info and that's going to show right at the top, lots of helpful SEO related info and down below there's a ton more information. But we don't need that because all that we're concerned with for this video is the meta description. Same thing would happen if we click on the post, let that load click out of this and then click on SEO quick icon and then say page info. Once again we can see the meta description. So that's a quick overview of how you can find the meta description for a page.
