Uh, honestly, this is really— it really depends on the pieces of the puzzle. Uh, so far we do have Neil as their main speed aware on Toshi, but we do have Walshy doing that unpredictable things that he does as a queen.

So he does.

Same with Toshi. Toshi is a solid queen. It really depends on, um, what map, what, what strategy they're going for, which is to say for all games. But who knows?

True, very true. Oh, is that, is that Lev on, on Toshi's team? No, that's not Lev. Oh, okay, I'm just racist. Okay, no problem. All right, anyway, so actually get into this right now. Uh, looks like Toshi is commanding lead.

Uh, they've got tunnel.

Gold's got the channel all the way through, out of the tunnel, and they wiped out one of Walshu's green lives. They were— blue was briefly wiped, but I think now gold's about to be wiped actually. Oh nope, nope, there's two warriors up for gold. Now only one warrior up for gold. So up, and now Walshu, just like that, Walshu flips the coin and it's like, I'm gonna take over now. And his team is now up actually. Oh, gold is wiped, there we go.

Oh, gold is wiped. Now we gotta figure out that gate control, and Toshi's down there in the tunnel.

It always sucks to be wiped on day map, like, because it happens so fast. Yeah, it happens so fast and it's just really hard to get out of, uh, out of, uh, lock.

Unless your queen messes up a jam like Walsh just did. Oh, unfortunate, unfortunate. Satoshi gets— oh, almost gets shuffled. Oh, he gets killed anyway.

who is that? Austin Turney, blue, uh, blue skulls. Austin Turney, uh, from KC. So it was a really strong move there. Um, wow, that was, that was intense. It looks like nice little bump. So that, that bump in the wrap, uh, in New York called it a sour berry, uh, what Neil Smith just did to, uh, to Austin actually. Um, so yeah, like Toshi got a bit of a respite because, uh, he killed some warriors there, but he's still kind of blocked and Blue is not really letting anyone out on the gold team. Although as I said, that's some nice drone bumps from gold. Let's, uh, let's another couple people get out here.

Hey, and, uh, Gold came back, uh, with the—

at least a decently full force. They're gonna form up on that left side, make sure everything's cool.

Yeah, and oh wow, okay, so the challenge here for both teams, it looks like, is that both teams need to kind of chill out when they're not up on Warriors. Um, there's a way you basically have to change the way you play the game, I think anyway.

Um, depending on if you're up or down or if, you know, what the situation is, and most people just like to kind of play like as if they're always up And that doesn't work all the time. It doesn't work all the time. As we speak, Blue getting the military back out and Gold slowly pushing the snail all the way back in the tunnel.

It's still at that good old neutral zone. We gotta figure out who's gonna take it out of the tunnel.

Yeah, Toshi looks like a bit hesitant with the warriors over his head, but they're slow warriors. You can— you have to kind of take those. You kind of have to be able to get your way out of those. Nice kill there from, from Neil on Gold Abs. Oh, nice pincers there from Gold. I, I really like how Gold's playing right now, but, uh But yeah, if Toshii wasn't on last life, this would be their game to lose. But as it stands— oh shoot, Blue's actually wiped right now. So yeah, it is actually Gold's game to lose. If Toshii can just stay alive, um, Snail pressure eventually is going to take it. Oh, nice kill! Nice kill from Neo with the kill.

All right, let's pull up these stats just quick, BK. So we have our homies. I think that one is Maxwell. That one's Raymond on, uh, stripes. And then, uh, Austin. And then while she got those queen kills— but yeah, good stuff going on in this, uh, situation right here. Let's see the percentages so far. 74% of the time, uh, Taylor— oh wait, yeah, Taylor, uh, from Seattle stayed up most of the time. See how it goes. Fairly good off the board.

All right, and I honestly think for these queens it's gonna be a 2-2 Mary. Obviously night map, we do rarely see a snail, and I kind of like seeing snail at night because it's a shorter distance.

Absolutely. Although you are right, it looks like both teams are going berries. Uh, Walsh was able to disrupt the first two berries from Gold, so that was a nice move for him.

Oh, nice maneuvers over there. I'm assuming that was KC on checks right there.

So this is a question I'd like to ask whenever it comes to Knife, uh, when it comes to pushing in the berries. Uh, would you prefer the berry runners to go towards the back and towards the front, or the front and towards the back?

I see.

Um, I usually like my berry runners to build towards the front actually. Nice kill from Walshii, uh, nice little shuffle there. Uh, but I like my berry runners to go— oh, and again, nice clearing of ledge guard on his own hive. But I usually like my workers to be filling the front of the hive because I want more pressure as fast as possible, and it's just faster to come around and cycle clear from the front. Uh, Neil actually on gold was trying to ledge guard because his ledge guard went down. Lets in a couple of berries. Blue is actually 4 berries worth winning.

4 berries, definitely they gotta keep that ledge up too. Make sure they got double ledge on that, double expose it, and also make sure they find the right openings to juke them out. Ooh, opening right there, and it's cleared.

At this point, I feel like Gold— as Blue leaks in another berry, I feel like Gold should just move the Snail, and it looks like they're kind of doing that.

Either that or they might go all-mill. No, they're still going with the berry.

They're still going berries. Okay, um, I was gonna say I would, I would have favored Gold coming into this match, uh, into this map rather. Yeah, because it seemed like they were a little more— like the warriors were a little more coordinated, the team was a little bit more coordinated. But, but yeah, now right now it's just free-for-all on the blue hive right now as workers are desperately trying to get in and gold's desperately trying to ledge guard. And, uh, gold actually has— oh, gold's wiped!

This should be a very, uh, very short game now for blue. Blue should be leaking those berries in really quick now, especially since Toshi's not really helping his team get out. Yeah, there you go, and that last berry comes Oh wait, whoa, nice bump from Toshio.

And that last berry comes in and we have 1-1 on the board. See how this one plays out. Let's see the stats just quick, BK.

They didn't go down once and he was the only one that got the queen kill.

So that berry progression was really rad. I love seeing a good berry run and I don't know It all goes down to like how your, how your feet is used to getting pressure.

Absolutely.

A lot of it over here in the Northwest, a lot of people go back to front, and I know a lot of people go front to back. So what I'm thinking is with a lot of the front to back situations is that when you're creating pressure in the front, when you go ledge in the— you're, you're ledging, but you're— what's it called—

you're more exposed to getting caught in the back.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, it's— yeah, I mean, you're right, it's all about pressure, but But I feel like if you're able to— I mean, if you're able to do the back to front safely, yeah, by all means go for it. They're a little harder to get to, like, eventually, so kind of like saving yourself time. It's really all just about like what you're prioritizing and how— what your style of play is, that kind of thing.

Yeah, so we got 2-2 in, that's the objective going in at the moment. Oh, solid, almost kill on that situation over there.

Slip and slide from Wall Street there, getting out of there. I love me a slippery queen. Same, same. So Gold actually gets their counter ledge cleared. Blue briefly went to double ledge and cleared out Neil Smith, I think was counter ledging. But Gold is still leading on berries, on top berries anyway. I think top berries are the key here on this map.

And a kick in, top berry kick in, but Toshi redeems himself by getting queen kill. He's just like, man, screw this, like I messed it up for you, I'm sorry, I'm gonna get at least one, like, an edge on us. Let's do it. Yeah, exactly. All right, so Toshi now should be clearing his own hive as Blue gets their last hop in.

Gold still looking for their last hop berry, and there's 3 left on the board. We gotta see what, uh, what Toshi can accomplish from this situation. Oh, and a miss on that 63 right there. Good stuff on that ledge.

Oh, nice cut from Walshy. So honestly, while Walshy was— oh man, now Gold's wiped. Yeah, looking really bad for Gold right now.

it's always in favor— it's gonna be in favor of blue, but it's not that far of a deficit. Yeah, for at least mainly Warrior gates.

I like to—

a lot of people I was talking to on stream, they like— they said it's like, oh, I'd like to prioritize speed, uh, speed gates more than I do Warrior. And there's a lot of people that are like, oh, I like to prioritize, uh, Vanilla's, uh, Warrior gates more than speed.

And Either one, you can't go wrong. A lot of logic goes into both of them. All right, we're going back to Dane.

For sure. Honestly, solid choice to go for on this, uh, this one.

Toshi had the upper hand on this one, this, uh, match.

Yeah, I think that— so what was really cool about last map was that, uh, Walshy was just keeping Toshi's attention and basically just 1v1ing the Queen and matching him while his team— shout out to his team— especially Austin was just clearing the Hive, doing all the dirty work, like clearing Neal, killing the Warriors. They did everything. So it'd It's funny to see if that happens again, but I was about to say that I think Toshi's team would do better on Day because to me they look like a Snail team, so I don't know, I don't really know why they're running Berries per se.

And yeah, like Toshi's just getting zoned out right now from everything by this team. If you look at the positions on the board, and yeah, I mean they're wiped. Immediately Blue, yeah, all of Blue, that was really beautiful, all of Blue decided, hey, let's go mess up this Warrior really quick, and all went to this, to the left gate and messed up the Speed Warrior.

And there's a return, especially getting trapped on that, that, uh, that column in the middle section. Yeah, it's harder for Toshi to get back. He's probably going the left side, but the Warriors are swarming the hell out of them down there.

Now Blue just gets to swarm. This is the most fun for, uh, for a team is when you're locking out the other team on day map especially. It's so hard to get out of it. Oh, there it is! That was a nice shuffle from Molschi. Looking really bad for Toshi now. Oh, oh, oh, I don't like any of this. Oh no, Toshi, Toshi, Toshi.

Oh well, at least he's got one down. He's just gonna wait for them.

Oh, nice! Blue abs messing up the pince there. That would have been really good. So he's gonna get one more out. No, he just leaves. Yeah, so I hate it when queens do this, but I'll talk about it after the game. And now Toshia has to just go hero mode and just go after this, uh, this snail. Oh, nice dive, barely out of it by Snipesteve.

So yeah, Blue's drones have to give him some, uh, some opportunities. So a lot of bombs, uh, it's gonna be for the case on this, this map.

This is definitely Blue's game to lose, although it looks like they're just kind of swarming and not really denying him Uh, this, this snail texture. Oh, that was a nice mix.

And who was that? That was Taylor from Seattle. Yeah, let me, let me get that in. So that is the end of that match right there.

Yeah, so I want to talk about that last game really quick. Um, The thing I was gonna say at the end there was I hate it when queens kind of feel a little— well, I guess your mileage may vary depending on the queen, but I hate it when your queen is being pressured and it's really hard, but basically tagging gate and just leaving it when you're being followed by a speed warrior and just not sticking around for a second to make sure your work gets out, that's just kind of like a waste of time to me, and I saw Toshii doing a lot of that. I mean, every queen does it. I definitely am guilty of doing it, a couple of times as well. But yeah, like, when you're— especially when you're on last life, it's kind of hard to think straight, but yeah, just tag the gate and just stay there for a second. Just zone it out for everybody so that you're able to actually get something out of it. And maybe you can kill the warrior, but that's not really the point. The point is to get someone out on your team so you can at least contest the stun a little bit better. Yeah, I just— I don't know, it's that whole meme with like Napalm of like, oh, I wish my warriors would clear space or whatever, or like, you know, way better than people who just fucking hover transfer. Like, yeah, sure. There is some truth to it though, that's kind of the point. Anyway, sorry, I'm gonna stop lost spicing.

Um, otherwise I think it's more of a snail map, I think. Um, no one really knows how to ledge guard on this map yet. It's kind of hard, I think, but it's a weird ledge. Yeah, it is kind ledge. It is like a long platform and then like a little like bump in the side. Ah, I see. So we got baited again. Neither team is playing this map, they're just warming up on meat map.

Yeah, a lot of Northwest, uh, gold team, uh, gold team here pretty heavily favored, I would say. And it looks like they're getting control of the map really hard too. Northwest represent. Uh, oh, oh, nice, nice slip from Brandon getting out of that pincer. So yeah, Blue is losing on all fronts right here. It looks like both teams are trying to do Snail, but obviously the Snail's on Gold's side of the map. As I say that though, Gold goes down to their last Warrior, and it looks like Crystal pushing Snail. I think Blue needs to kind of zone a bit more. The Warriors on Blue are kind of just floating around in the middle of the map, not really zoning much, not really doing much for their team. Ooh, Griner down there under the Snail. Case in point, gets taken out trying to play 1v3 right there. Not a good call.

I really think it's interesting that they started with Dusk.

it's an impossible order, but I think they can probably get like one, one warrior up and then just go back to the snail. I think that's what Brandon should be doing right now. Nice clear there from Brandon, and yep, he gets a warrior out. He might get two. Uh, nope, we got a gold, uh, Cold Abs— that's Kaley from Seattle— just kind of chasing around gate controlling there. Um, but it looks like Gold themselves are down to 2 warriors. Yeah, this really looks like— oh, nice kill from the Brandon! Johnmarcos on a second life. It kind of looks like Blue is seizing the initiative a little, a little more here. If the Warriors could maybe just spread out a little bit and start pincering or start, you know, gate controlling, because Gold right now is looking to get their third warrior up. That would be really good from them, but as it stands, they're all kind of just floating around the right side of the map. By the Snail or by the Queen. There's kind of a lack of— to play Snail correctly— well, not correctly, but to play Snail well, I feel that you need to— and as I'm philosophizing, Brandon gets caught.

Yeah, which is kind of like, it could be a blessing and a curse at the same time. One, the score—

Um, yeah, I think you're exactly right, and I think the dynamic on blue team is everyone on that team is aggro. If you watched, especially that last kill, they were all kind of like— all the Warriors were like meandering around trying to look for kills and not really helping clean out who was in a pincer. Yeah, in several pincers actually. So good job on Bren and staying alive as long as he did, but he really needed some help from his team there.

Yes, I agree. I agree completely. There is a good— let's see how this goes. Now they're going to the traditional game, which is most likely a 3-1, or knowing how Jean-Marc might do, it might be a full mil.

Uh, Blue right now kind of looking out of sorts. They need to just zone out of gate again and try to get warriors up. As I say that, Lex again getting a kill on Brandon, and Brandon right now just running for his life as his team is wiped. Nice kill though. Um, but yeah, Blue looking like they're in a really rough spot. Oh, nice kill from Brandon as Lex gets kind of thirsty for the kill. He should be moving, he should be rolling left here. Uh, and that's partly because I know— I think he doesn't, uh, hold his Warrior's space as much, but he's so good at picking others off and, uh, keep getting them up. Um, and he doesn't— his team don't gate each other strongly, but they push their objective really well. So that's a pass for Camden. A lot of the New York players that, uh, don't like Fortress, they're arguing against this. You just take one Speed Warrior like Goldabs right here and you just Send it their way. Exactly. If they had died right there, they could have weaved through and then people would have started falling, and then you have people start backing in. But once you have that momentum, it's really hard for these other teams to fight defensively at the snail. I mean, for an uncoordinated team, like, running the snail is already kind of hard, so running it back Yeah, it's true.

That's a good point. Running it back is really hard for these teams. And then, and then you have your, your player— you're like, almost every queen in this tournament is like killing the J-Dive. It's just so smooth, like 90+ percent of the time hitting moves. And so a lot of warriors, especially in the old build, are used to just like hanging out under a ledge, and they're dying a lot doing that. All right, so they run an IMAP. Yeah, Kyle's, uh, incredibly good at death I think this might be one of the strongest Dust map plays I know. And actually, that's hard to say. I feel like Dust map changes, like, you know when people say going into a tournament, they're like, this is our strongest map, and then afterwards, like, wow, we got really wrecked on that map when we thought it was our strongest. Yeah, I feel like I hear that about Dust more than any other. Uh, everyone's just like, I guess I thought I knew what I was doing, but I guess I don't. Or vice versa, like, wow, we did well on Dust. I guess we're the That's why it's my favorite map, I think, is because it's so well balanced. People still don't quite know how to play. It's not clinical, like they have to do.

Yeah, it's interesting. It's like one of the win conditions is done in like the widest open space of any of the maps. The other win condition is done in this tiny like space where it's really hard to get tucked.

So it's about like flying through That's a good way of putting it, I never thought of that. Oh, oh my God, almost! Oh, and Kyle's trying, but is the greed gonna get him? Uh, no, not quite. No one got punished for any of that greed, although that— oh, that drone missed the jump, and that's okay, we had a really narrow path.

See, okay, that's, that's you and Bwong have talked about how you can set up a fortress, but one Speed Warrior just like coming through, crashing through makes the fortress near impossible to defend. And I subscribe to that too, personally.

Yeah, I mean, I'll be that Speed Warrior.

You might die, but then the rest of your team comes in, collapses, and the other team loses their positioning and it's easy kills.

My absolute favorite thing to do is in the Fortress situation as a Speed Warrior, I go under someone, bait them down, fly back up, and get a quick pincer before they have time to rise again.

I love pulling off the pincers. In the tight spots and then you get away with it.
