In this instructional segment, Chris Haroun advises viewers to select the iShares TIP ETF (ticker TIP) as the preferred Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) fund, noting its 0.19% annual management fee and that its largest holding accounts for about 8% of the portfolio. He explains how TIPS work—U.S. government debt that adjusts its value with inflation—so investors understand the security’s inflation‑protection feature. Haroun then demonstrates how to purchase any ETF, including TIP, using the Thinkorswim platform from TD Ameritrade, showing both real and paper (simulated) accounts. He mentions that users in regions where Thinkorswim is blocked can legally use a VPN to access the platform. Finally, he promotes his upcoming Complete Options Course and the extended MBA program content, encouraging beginners to start with paper trading to build confidence before moving to live trading.

Among the many tips ETFs, how do I know which ones to choose? Absolutely. So I think the iShares Tip ETF is best. So you type in ticker tip. Okay. And it's comprised of many different U.S. government securities. I think the largest one is 8% of that portfolio. Let me go there actually with you right now, quickly. And we'll type in ticker tip. And for those who are not familiar with tip, it means Treasury Inflation Protected securities. And what happens is if you buy a tip, okay, it's government debt, US Government debt. If you buy a TIP and you're given a certain interest rate on it and inflation rises 30% overnight, which wouldn't happen, and interest rates rise 30% overnight, which wouldn't happen, this will go up that much as well. Hence the name Treasury Inflation Protected Security. It's offered by iShares. Now in terms of the management fee, I think it's 0.19%. Yeah, 0.19% every year you'll pay that, that fee. And in terms of the holdings, the largest component here is, yeah, 8%. So these are all U.S. treasury notes. Obviously we know interest rates are very, very low right now. Okay. And I think you had a follow up question you wrote once I eventually choose my preferred TIPS etf, how do I buy it? I never thought, I never bought any before. Would you please recommend a couple of online shopping websites for ETFs? Thank you once more. Yeah, absolutely. So all you do is it's like a ticker, right? So you can buy a ticker for any stock you want to and you should be able to buy this as well. And for those you just getting started with investing, let me show you how to do it. Okay, so there's this company called Think or Swim and it's owned by TD Ameritrade. And you can have a real portfolio or a fake portfolio, pretend money. So you can get started with this. So let me, let me log in. Okay, good, it's loading. Okay, cool. And, and so you can use this, this TD Ameritrade product called thinkorswim to trade real stocks or a paper portfolio. Okay. And if you can't get access to this application and download for free because you're in certain countries that block it, if it's legal, you can get a VPN set up and, and access all this stuff. So you just enter the ticker in here and it should work in your blotter. And right here, these are Apple calls and puts. I've been working very hard on a new course coming out soon, which is called the Complete Options Course. So you just enter in the ticker in any blotter. Yeah. And I recommend, if you haven't invested in options or stocks before or futures or a derivative products, create a paper portfolio here. It's free to use. It's a lot of fun. Don't get intimidated by all this stuff here, because I explain what all this stuff means in much, much more detail in my upcoming Complete Options course. And a much more comprehensive version of that will be in class number 89 for those you signed up for the MBA program, and students that sign up for my program get all additional content that I add for free forever.
