The Most Useful AI Tool You’ve Never Heard Of

In this interview, host Chris Koerner talks with Jay, the founder of Violoop, about their on‑device AI hardware agent that watches a user’s screen and automates workflows. Jay explains Violoop as an AI “partner” that sits beside you, continuously observing your screen in real time, building a personal memory graph, and proactively offering assistance—drafting emails, summarizing documents, handling invoices, and more—without sending any raw video or data to the cloud. The device includes a dedicated security chip and vault to keep passwords, credit‑card numbers, and other sensitive data on‑device only. Features such as “Away Mode” let the agent run long‑running tasks while the user is away, and the system can integrate with tools like Gmail, Google Sheets, QuickBooks, Notion, Salesforce, etc. Users report an average productivity gain of about two hours per day (roughly a full workday per week). Jay discusses use cases for creators, small business owners, and individuals, including automated invoicing, market arbitrage, DM filtering, and idea generation based on observed habits. Limitations are acknowledged: current on‑device models are less capable than frontier cloud models, but rapid improvements are expected, with future models handling 20‑30 step workflows. The interview also covers pricing, a Kickstarter launch on September 15th, and the vision of giving each user ownership of their memory, agent, and model while keeping costs low.
Chapters
It's just enabling me to do a lot more that I would never have had time to do. So my 8-hour workday still looks like an 8-hour workday, but I'm getting 16 or 30 hours worth of work done because of all these agents I have running for me.
The cost for building this has gone to basically zero. It's working on the task already on the background before me prompting anything. Prepares your work before you actually open your laptop and finish the work that you have left even during the night. People are not exposed to this type of technology yet.
That's amazing. I can't believe the future that we're already living in. They say that the future is already here, it's just unevenly distributed, and that's what this feels like to me.
This is its memory, and a lot of things are not discussed between me and the agent but captured while it's watching what's going on on my screen. Your screen, your raw image, your video is never shared to the cloud, so you don't have to worry about your privacy.
How would you explain Vialoop to someone that has never used an AI product before?
I would describe Vialoop as somebody actually working next to you. What does it mean is that you can imagine it's a partner, it's an internship, it's a relationship that we have with somebody who is just sitting next to me doing things together with me. And I think that's the best way to put Vialoop. And what do I mean by that is that Vialoop has the capabilities to see what's on your screen, what's going on, what you're working on, and also be part of that journey. While Loop can see something that's just happened and react upon for you under your control. So I think this is the first time that we have given AI this type of capabilities. Of course, AI were able to see screenshots, analyze that, but it was never in a video form. Imagine what we have, what AI sees us. I think a couple of years ago, I think AI sees us in blogs that we write a bunch of text and we send to AI and they, that's how they learn to interact with us. And I think in the past couple of years, AI sees us as Instagrams that sometimes I get a screenshot, then I get some captions. Oh, no, I see who the user is and what they, what they're working on. And right now, with While Loop, we are providing AI with like a YouTube Live experience that the agent is working next to you and watching live, which is what you're doing on your computer, and see where it's a good fit for While Loop to jump in and help you at that certain moment.
Okay. So the first thing I thought of when you answered that is MrBeast, because I don't know if you know this, but When MrBeast hires a new employee or a new key employee, he does something very unique, which honestly shouldn't be that unique, and has them mirror him, follow him, stalk him, live with him, eat with him, sleep in the bed next to his for months, right? That's what he does because he's trying to scale himself. He's trying to get his brain, how he thinks, how he talks, how he reacts, how he acts, In someone else's person and multiple people ideally. And he's just got married, but until just recently he wasn't married. He had no kids. He works 100 hours a week. And so he always has someone by his side watching everything he does. And most people hear that and they're like, that's crazy. Who would do that? But MrBeast is like, I want to be the best entertainer in the world that ever has been. So this is what it takes. So when you answered that question, what is Violoop? That's what I thought of because it's less intrusive than that, but just as effective. It's an AI piece of hardware that watches everything you do and lives with you, and you can turn it off at any time or only give it so many permissions if you think it's too much. Is that accurate?
I think that is very accurate. And I never heard about— I know MrBeast, I admire him. He's a very great content creator, but I never heard about that. But I think what you described is exactly what Wowloop is doing. Giving AI the first shotgun seat sitting next to you and be on top of everything with you at the same time.
Yeah. The next thing I wanted to say was you used an Instagram comparison, right?
Yes.
So it's like ChatGPT of 2024 was like Facebook in 2006. You had a wall, you had a feed, text, sometimes pictures. And as far as context goes, the world gets a very, very, very tiny peek into your life. 'Cause you're only posting the best of the best in certain things. But now you're saying Violet makes it more like Instagram, Instagram Stories. What am I doing right now? Stories to my close friends. What am I doing that I only want my close friends to see? Pictures, videos, DMs, everything, as much context as you want to give it, contrasted to, you know, what Facebook was 20-something years ago.
Very cool.
Now, if someone is trying to start a business, With very little money, how can Violoop help with that?
At the very beginning, Violoop can be a very good thinking partner because Violoop actually sees what you're browsing on a daily basis. It has the context system built around you. And being a thinking partner, you can just— that person can just talk to Violoop and find out what is the thing or the couple of things that the user is most passionate about. Because I don't believe people just grinding to make money. I believe people chasing their dreams and money comes as a bad product. And so finding what their interest is at and fulfilling knowledge gaps on certain areas, that's one very important fundamental things that Valloop can do for you. But that's just on the thesis level. But on a practical level, I think Valloop can help you do a lot because with Valloop, you can do tons of researches, local analysis, and finding the opportunities that might just be laying around you. You can ask Valloop, okay, can you go check on Facebook Market? I'm looking for something, maybe a chair that's under $30. And Valloop can help you and find the best options. And you can upsell them on another website for maybe another $50. And Valloop can actually do the posting for you. So just by finding information and spreading them around, build an arbitrage that could be instantly beneficial to anybody who just wants to make a couple extra dollars. And if we want to go to the extensive ways of how to utilize value loop, and I utilize value loop to build my current business, and it helped me in every, in so many different aspects of the business. I think everybody has their different ways, but finding what they believe in, finding what they're interested in, and using some little techniques to start leveraging arbitraging, I think that's how People can start, can approach value with.
Yeah, I love that. The question I'm asked more than any other question is, what business should I start? I've learned to kind of hate that question. No offense to the people that ask it, just because it's like, we just met. And it would be like you asked me, Chris, who should I marry? And I'm like, who are you, Jay? Like, what, what are your likes, dislikes? Who do you know? Like, what are your insecurities? What are you looking for? Blonde, brunette? It's like, it requires so much context.
Right, exactly.
Hint, wink wink, context. It requires so much knowledge and information about that person. It's impossible for me to get all that info about a person to know what business they should start. Like, even if my best friend were to ask me, I'm not in his heart or in his head. You know, like, I'd have a much better idea than a stranger asking me, but I still don't really know. And so I published an episode a few months ago that was called something like, why finding your passion is garbage advice, or why chasing your passion is garbage advice. And the reason is because Most people don't know what to start, which is why they're asking me. And so this whole episode was going on and on, like, look at your search history, look at your YouTube watch history, do an audit of your life. Like, what do you love? Like, and it was, it was very tactical and practical, but also very tedious. It sounds like what you're saying could be, all right, if I want to make money, I first need to know how to make money. If I need to know how to make money, I need to know like what skills, what preferences, what passions I have. To learn that, I need someone getting context, learning me, watching what I do, what I search for, what I type, how I type, how I talk. We all waste time, right? And sometimes those things that we waste time on are things that we could start a business around. And if I ask myself, how do I waste time? I might not give myself an honest answer. But if I ask ViaLoop, it's like, dude, you're watching these fishing videos every day for 45 minutes. You should start a fishing business. You know what I'm saying?
I know, it's just like what type of content that you consume. Maybe people just like Pokémon cards. And I believe Pokémon cards are actually great business. Like fishing too, there must be certain type of fishing pain point that is not solved by people. But if you have watched 100 fishing videos, the answer is probably already in the comments. And a Valloop can help you actually go back to the comments and find out, oh, what are the pain points that people are itching about?
Yeah. What are some of the most common repetitive tasks that people are having Violoop do for them?
I think the most, most iconic task is invoices, because I think that is dealt by almost everybody. Either you're a business owner or you're working in an enterprise. Everybody has all sorts of business expenditures that they want to write off, all those invoices that they need to track. And what I do is that I have my Gmail connected to Violoop. So whenever I receive an invoice, Whenever I receive a new invoice in the email form, Valuable will pull it down. I'll do scanning on the invoice itself and will fill it up in my personal Google Sheet. So I have a clear track of everything that I'm looking at, over which day I spend how much money, and the attachment is also there, like saved in the Google Sheet. So when it comes to tax season, I have everything prepared. I just send this whole thing to my accountant, then I'm good to go. Because I think I believe this is one of the most, most common things that we hear from most of our users.
Yeah.
And of course, emails, Excels, all those could be very repetitive tasks as well.
What about non-business owners? Like just employees or aspiring business owners? How are they using it?
I will say invoices are still a big chunk of every person's life. How much I spent at this grocery shop, how much I spent on gas. For non-business operators, I think a lot of them comes to content related. Either they're researching for a certain topic, Wowloop can go through a dozen websites, even LinkedIn, even those ones that are usually a little bit hard to access for AIs, and also go through this website, come back with complete and summed up summaries for people to consume, and also sharing ideas from one platform to another. So these are what I would say non-business owners are having a good time experiencing with the product.
Okay. Now, if I were to guess, I just talked about what question I get asked the most. If I were to guess what question you get asked the most, is one of them like, what can Violoop do that ChatGPT in a browser can't do? Like, why do I need hardware for this?
Yes, I think this is a great question. And of course, I think you have a good hint and that we do get this a lot. And so I can show you a couple examples and just to start.
Yes.
So this is the hardware. So you own this and this goes with the user, stays with the user. And one of our core vision is for every user to have their own memory, which is stored here, own agent, which runs here, and own model that they have a personalized on-device model that is always serving them. So that's where we started. And with that, I can show you a couple examples that I don't believe any of the AI that you see on the market can do. So first of all, this is the memory graph that Valloop builds. Although mine is in Chinese, but this is the graph that Valloop generates while working together with me. As you can see, this is its memory regarding Valloop itself. And a lot of things are not discussed between me and the agent, but captured while it's watching what's going on. And Valloop can actually build connections with other entities. Some entities are my colleagues. Some entities are my knowledge files. Some entities are matters that related to Valloop. Users own this context and you own this memory. That's for sure. And for the stuff that others cannot do. So for example, now we're looking at a message app. And this green box is what indicates Valloop is seeing what I'm seeing on the screen. And Valloop sees that somebody's asking me for my office address, and it already drafted the reply for me. All I have to do is— so this went away because I didn't confirm, but we can do this again. So the draft is there at my finger point right now. All I have to do is tap on my keyboard and the address is confirmed. And tap, this is good to go. Valloop can do more, way more than autocompleting. Yeah. For example, we'll say somebody is asking me if I can do a meeting tomorrow at 3:00 PM. So again, this green light indicates While Loop is seeing what I'm seeing and it's captured that, oh, somebody is asking me for a meeting. And that's a different feature of While Loop. You could be fetching APIs, but we can circle back to that. And so now I'm looking at a Word document and this green light again indicates While Loop sees what I'm seeing. And Valloop, based on this resume, is asking me if I want to see a candidate card, if I want to see some interview questions, or if I want to see a fit analysis. And this is different from document to document. Now I'm looking at this partnership agreement and Valloop again sees what I'm seeing. And based on the document, Valloop is asking, oh, based on the agreement, I can do a risk summary for you. I can do some key terms for you. I can do negotiation preps for you. I'll say, okay, let me do some risk summaries. I just press 1 on my keyboard. And if we go back to the Valloop main app, you are a legal counsel. Based on this document below, let's do 1 page of risk briefs. And so Valloop is working on the task already on the background before me tapping or prompting anything because Valloop is having this live moment with me. Whatever I'm doing, Valloop actually sees. And Valloop actually reacts to the moment and asks if Valloop can do certain things for me at that point of time. So this is something I will say, I don't believe we have seen this anywhere in the tech industry right now. And I believe this is a new way of us interacting with AI, with next generation of technology. And I think it should be as simple as what you just saw with Valloop.
So if I give Violoop a password or credit card number, does it stay on the device?
For that particular question, so Violoop has a dedicated security chip. This chip has 2 features. One feature is that it's like a mini computer that runs yes or no questions. And what does that mean is that Violoop will see— the security chip will see the Violoop agent is doing certain tasks. And certain tasks is updating this file. And the little computer says, yes, this can be done. And again, this computer scans, oh, while loop is about to deleting a file, or while loop is about to send a file, send a message to some external users. Then this little computer, little chip stops that and asks for user permission. So the second use case for this chip is that the chip has its own vault built inside the chip. So it's somewhere that is stored on the hardware, but the agent does not have any access. So any password, any API, any user information is stored in that chip that neither of anybody, even if they break the product and break the chip, they still can't extract the information from that security chip.
Very cool. So it's like a A governor, right?
Or like a police force that gives order. Yes, it's not that smart compared to an AI agent. I mostly run on rule basis, but you can think it's observing or is obtaining a law that we, that we confirmed. Don't, for anything that irreversible, you need to ask users' permission before pursuing forward. So that's, And also it has a vault. The vault saves the most critical and important information.
Okay. And what is away mode? What can it do in away mode and why would you use away mode? Yes.
So we actually have a, we actually have an app. And so this app can directly connect to your Valloop and you can give Valloop instructions even you, even you are, if you are away from your computer. And what we see from our beta testers and our early adopters are doing most with away mode is that they're using the time they are away from computer to tackling those long-term, long-running tasks. For example, we had this YouTuber who used Away Mode to ask While Loop to capture when the upload of a certain video is finished. So he will go back and double-check the title, the subtitle, the thumbnail, and press publish himself. And as a YouTuber, you must know uploading a video could take hours. For creators, exporting video file or generating a 3D file, that takes a long time as well. And the computer usually can just run one task at a time. What we see people doing is that they ask Valrú to observe. They leave the desk and ask Valrú, okay, I want you to export this video for me. And the task could be 30 minutes. And when you finish exporting this one, let's do the next. I have a set prepared for you. And so those can be done while you're away from a computer. You don't have to stuck with just one while you can do all those long horizon tasks while the user is away from their computer.
Very cool. So I could have it like I get a ton of DMs every day, hundreds of DMs. Most of them are just not worth responding to, but some of them are like, hey, come on my podcast. It's really popular. Or, or hey, I started a business based on something you talked about. I just wanted you to know, like, I would like to read that. I could just have it monitoring my DMs and logging them in a Google Sheet or something. And then I could use it or a different AI tool to search those and say like, find me some high-value DMs. Or is that accurate?
That's very accurate.
Do you have any data on how much time back in a week Violoop gives to the average user that's actually using it?
I think this varies from person to person, but we asked our early users and we have got a roundup, which is this Approximately 2 hours per day.
Wow.
So 2 hours a day, that translates to almost 1 working day every week. So you imagine now we have 4 working days in every week. That could be nice. So what they do is that they have a few scheduled tasks that While Loop starts to run before they actually get to work, before they actually get to office. And they have a few other recap works they can do before they actually leave work. So While Loop prepares your work before you actually open your laptop. And Valloop finishes the work that you have left or maintains watch on the things that you have asked to, even during the night. So people can have a good night's sleep or maybe just having a time to go out with friends. So we are looking at the ballpark is probably around 2 hours per day.
Wow. And what I've noticed with AI is I'll give it things to do to put time back on my plate. And that helps. But mostly, it's just enabling me to do a lot more that I would never have had time to do. So my 8-hour workday still looks like an 8-hour workday, but I'm getting 16 or 30 hours worth of work done because of all these agents I have running for me.
I can't agree more because I think that's how my life has been for the past year. But I think we really accomplished a lot of things that we couldn't imagine a couple of years ago. So this is really empowering the people. Who has the idea, who has the drive to build things for them, and also saving them time from doing the repetitive task that everybody hates.
Yeah. What is it still getting wrong? Like, where are we still early when it comes to Violoop and devices similar to it?
So Violoop runs an agentic model right inside the box. So this model belongs to the user and the user only. We can help user to up— But from the point of shipping, this model belongs to the user 100%. So what we're seeing is that with this mini-H models, they're still not as capable as the frontier, the OpenAI, the Anthropic models. But what we are seeing is that their improvement has been so fast. The models that we are running in RightBio Loop, if we compare the benchmarks, it could Compare back to GPT-3.5, even GPT-4, and imagine we can have all those trillion, trillion parameter models now running a palm-sized edge device. And we are foreseeing drastic improvements in terms of edge computing. So the model that Valloop can run in 3 months will be much powerful and stronger than what we're currently running. And I don't think this process is actually slowing down. So we could experience a couple new models in the next coming year.
How long does it take when a user is using Violoop religiously? How long does it take for it to really get enough context to actually be helpful?
If the user is really appreciating Violoop and giving Violoop more opportunities, more ways to try, then I think it could be very short. It could be just one day to another, because Valloop can actually be connected to almost anything. Your Notion, your Obsidian, your Salesforce, your Monday, your Linear, all those softwares can be connected to Valloop. And Valloop can actually help you to build your personal memory and your personal context based on connecting with this type of third-party services. So if the user is intended to do that, I think the process could be really quick, a couple hours. I think Valloop can have a good amount of context and memory and be super helpful to the user already. And if the user is not intending to do all those connections, I think give or take maybe 3 days to a week, that should give Valloop enough materials to start being your partner sitting next to you.
After it watches you for a while, is it possible to ask Violoop like, hey, you've been watching me work, what can I have you do? Because a lot of people have trouble coming up with ideas, right? What ideas do you have for me based on what you've seen me do? Is that possible?
It's very possible. And I actually ask that to my Violoop almost every day, maybe, maybe not every day, but every week. Because although I have a goal that is making this company a great company, But I also have a lot of blank spots, things that I was not following up too tightly on. And Valloop can actually help me go through those blank spots because Valloop can see that, oh, for the past 3 days, I have never seen anything talked about launching your D2C website. Is that still on your roadmap? Are you still working on that? Oh, for the past 2 weeks, I haven't seen anything regarding Amazon. Are you opening your Amazon store in the next couple months? Because I think that is very important. So these are the blank spots that Violoop actually helped me to capture before myself even noticed. Sometimes I say, okay, Amazon, I probably want to do that maybe next year, but it's still a good catch-up.
If I'm watching this interview a year from now, what do you think Violoop's going to be able to do then that it can't do today?
We have done some internal benchmarks. So for the local model, for the model that is running inside this little box, it can do agentic tasks to about 5 to 8 steps. That's maybe finding the file, go through the file, extract the data, move the file, change the file name, and send it to somebody. So that's probably 5 to 6 steps. We are expecting the on-device model can get up to 20, even 30 steps on long agentic workflows, which is currently, I don't think it is able for 8 billion or less parameter models to do. But we are post-training our own on-device model, and that is where we're heading to. So user choosing Vialop is not just choosing our hardware, it's also choosing our research capabilities, model training capabilities. capabilities. And we want to, again, our, I think our core value that we want to give to our users is that user, they own their own memory, they own their own agent, and also they own their own model. So we want to train better and better models and have them OTA to everybody's device so they don't have to switch their memory, they don't have to switch their harness, but they have a model that is constantly improving with them.
Okay. That's amazing. It's just be able to do more of what it's already doing, like longer steps, more context window.
Yes. And less cost for the user who's spending on AI and tokens, because we have heard from the market and our community, people are tired of paying all these subscriptions. People don't want a $20 bill that comes from 10 different websites or even 20 different websites every month. So that is one of our core goals, how to help our users to get the most frontier intelligence into our product while spending the least amount of money on subscriptions or token usage. So this is how we're trying to balance having a local model with the user, protects the privacy of the user, and also help the user to save token spending on our What's an example of a really impressive workflow that uses multiple different apps that it can run today? So we actually posted that in one of our videos. What it did is that Valloop saw that I have an incoming email that somebody sent me an email asking for 100 Valloop units in a quotation because they're a reseller in, I think, Canada. And I actually sent them an What email back saying, okay, I'm going to send you Valloop a quote. did is that it saw the email, asked me for my permission, asking if it should help me build a quotation for me. I said yes. Then Valloop actually went to my Google Sheet, puts the latest number and the discount for resellers. And it then went back to my QuickBooks and started building a proper quotation in PDFs.
Mm-hmm.
Then it generated PDF, it downloaded The PDF and they paste it back to the email and provided me with a draft. All left for me to do is just to press send. Then the deal is actually closed and Valloop actually helps me following up that order. This is from email to Google Sheets, to QuickBooks, then back to email. Valloop can help me, actually help me complete the whole circle or close the whole business loop.
What are some workflows that you could directly correlate to making money. That was one, right? But to someone that doesn't already have a business or doesn't already have 100 units of something to sell, are people using it for cold outreach, direct outreach, sales and marketing, etc.?
I have a couple very good examples, but that do require having a little bit scale. But I think what Valloop can help anybody, anybody can just use Valloop to start on anything that they like. For example, I just, I don't know anything about making money. I have no ideas, but how about putting out a couple of websites just to see which one people likes? I can do a personal website that I can design for artists. I can do a secondhand sale website where I get my stock from Facebook Second Marketplace. And all I have to do is just to brand those websites, post them on my social media, have my family and friends to see, and maybe I can find a business there. And because the cost of building such front-end website and also having things that can be linked to the website, the cost for building this type of storefront, electronic storefront, has gone to basically zero or maybe just a couple dollars. And you can hold— and anybody can host that on a public internet and they can just share among your friends, your WhatsApp group, your Telegram group, your own social media. And if one thing doesn't work, Then try another. No one is stopping anybody from doing maybe 10 trials at any time. And maybe one of them just clicks. And I've seen many people from my background who's maybe engineers. And what they do is that they find nice GitHub repos and they build a nicer frontend for the app, for the service, and change the language and sell them to Japan and sell them to Korea. And sell them to Vietnam because people there are not exposed to this type of technology yet. And you can do subscription charges, $10 a month, $20 a month. And some are really making a good living out of them. Those digital nomads spending their days in Bali, many are doing this. So I think if somebody who is starting from zero, I think the most, the best advice could be that Just trying a couple things first, and maybe one thing, it'll click, it'll give you positive feedback, and then you can build upon, on those. Valloop is actually very good at marketing. We are spending quite some money on Google, on Facebook, on X, doing ads. And what Valloop is very good at doing is that it can help me build a nice, clear tracking dashboard. That I can see how every of my channel is working for me. I can see the views, the exposures, the CPAs, the CTRs for every of my ads. Right now I have like maybe 200, 300 ads running on Meta, and there's no way I personally track how much each ad is doing, is generating, the cost of every click or every conversion. Wow. But Valloop is very good with this data-related stuff, and you can put data from all sorts of incoming sources and put them into a very nice tracking and help you analyze, okay, this few asset is not performing well, we should cut them. Valloop can help me generate another couple of pictures or even another couple of videos, then swap them back, then have a new set of creatives to test with maybe a new set of demographic.
Beautiful. Jay, is there anything that I should have asked you that I didn't, or anything you want to touch on before we wrap this up?
Valloop uses hardware access, one Type-C cable to connect to your computer and stream video from your computer to Valloop itself. And so your screen, your raw image, your video is never shared to the cloud. Every analysis and processing is done inside the box. So you don't have to worry about your privacy being shared to any cloud service provider, not the labs, not AWS. Also, Valloop is building this memory graph entirely for you and stored in the box. So this is what we mean by your memory, your agent, and your model. And Valloop has this dedicated security chip that will stop anything from any irreversible stuff that could potentially harm your computer. It checks my calendar and 4 PM works. And Valloop can actually help me generate a meeting calendar as well on a daily basis. Saves me quite a lot of time.
That's amazing. I can't believe the future that we're already living in. They say that, you know, the future is already here. It's just unevenly distributed. And that's what this feels like to me. Jay, thank you. Your product's awesome. I'm a user myself. You can see it in the background. Where can we learn more about Violoop or about Jay?
So our website is at violoop.ai, and we'll be launching on Kickstarter September 15th. If you see it before September 15th, you can put down $10 deposit at our website and you can enjoy extra rewards and extra cashback. And if you see us on Kickstarter, don't wait because our price might be going up. This is the— $399 will be the lowest that we'll be ever offering to the market. And when it comes to retail, I think our price will be set at $699. So please do support us on Kickstarter. And we are very excited. We will be making more content to our community as well. So please follow us.
Beautiful. Thank you, Jay. Go check out their Kickstarter. And we'll see you later.
All right. Thank you, Chris.
