Christian Polk says informal language helps close sales, but only if you've already established credibility through appearance and confidence. Drop an F-bomb and prospects relax, but looking disheveled or unprofessional makes informality backfire, especially on high-ticket deals over $25k.

The less professional you act, the more deals you're going to close. These business owners do not want to talk to some square with a stick up his ass trying to just pitch his product. They want to do business with people who actually have a personality and talk to them like they are a normal human being. Stop being so professional.
Yeah. So overall, I would say this is true. Now, with a caveat, they want to talk to people who are and look professional, look like they actually know what they're doing. They're an authority., but actually have a personality. So if you look like somebody who's super young, you look like you're selling out of your mom's basement, your hair's all disheveled, and you talk like you're a bit retarded or autistic, that's not gonna get the job done. If you look nice, you dress nice, you have a really nice background, and I drop the F-bomb, you can see it. I'll be talking to people, and again, I'm selling packages that are $25,000 plus, $50,000 plus. You can see their shoulders like drop, and they can actually speak more freely. So I will say yes, with your words, you can be a bit more candid, be a bit more straightforward, a bit less professional. But that is only in the context that they already see you as an authority. They already see you as a professional. If you look like you're selling out of your mom's basement, right? Hair disheveled, all that stuff. And then you sound unprofessional. It's only going to compound a negative view of you. So you gotta be careful of that.
