In this instructional video, Christie Renee Hawkins emphasizes that a creator’s mindset is the foundation for a rewarding artistic experience. She argues that art should be valued for its process rather than the final appearance, urging beginners to release expectations of perfection and to give themselves grace. Hawkins stresses that painting is fundamentally a skill‑learning activity, not a replication of her own examples, and encourages viewers to approach their mixed‑media work with openness and joy, recognizing that growth comes from embracing imperfection.

I don't expect it from you, and you shouldn't expect it from yourself. You are learning a new skill, and that is all painting is. You're learning a new skill
