Big POTMC Reveal and Bonus!!

In this live YouTube session, Christie Renee Hawkins announces the October Painting of the Month Club (POTMC) reveal as part of The Social Easel’s 10‑year anniversary celebrations. She reveals that, for the first time in 2023, members will receive two paintings instead of one: a "Fall Still Life with Lantern" (palette‑knife texture, focus on highlights and shadows) and a whimsical "Halloween Gnome" (chunky glitter medium, metallic gold accents, Van Gogh‑inspired sky). Christie explains the sign‑up window (open now until September 30 midnight), the price ($20 for both paintings, $10 each), and the flexible, lifetime access to tutorial videos stored in the membership library. She addresses common questions about surface choices, the ability to adapt the designs, and permission for members to sell creations derived from the designs. The video also shares the origin story of The Social Easel, which began in 2013 when Christie hosted a birthday painting party for her daughter Kylie, leading to a decade of in‑person and now online paint nights. Community interaction is highlighted through live comments from members expressing excitement. The session closes with a reminder of upcoming fall and holiday themed paintings and an invitation to join the club.
Chapters
Hey everybody, we are live for the Painting of the Month Club reveal for October, and this is going to be a fun one because if you haven't heard yet, The Social Easel is turning 10 in October. So we are planning all kinds of fun events and specials all month long to celebrate our 10th birthday. And since this one is coming out October 1st, it is going to be part of that special too. So for the first time in 2023, I am going to give you not one painting for Painting of the Month Club, but we're going to do two. You're getting a bonus this month. So part of this decision came in conjunction with celebrating 10 years. Part of it came because I love both of these paintings so much, and with a limited amount of time in the fall season, I was just having a hard time debating on which one I wanted to do for Painting of the Month Club, so I decided to give them both to you. So are you guys ready to see? Sorry, I should have turned my notifications off before, um, I got on here. So I've got them behind me. Let me know in the comments if you are already a Painting of the Month Club member and you're excited. You've probably already got your email, um, last night or this morning about it. Um, or if you're a Tribe sister in the comments, just let me know. And I am going to grab these and show them to you. So two completely different sizes and completely different styles of paintings that I think you guys are going to love. So this was the original plan for October. I love this one. I taught this one last year inside of my Tribe. And this was all about learning how to do a still life and learning where to put highlights and shadows. We've got some palette knife work in here in the pumpkins, and all that texture that you see on the painting, that comes from palette knife. So if you haven't done palette knife painting before, you're going to love this one. Okay, so that is painting number 1 for Painting of the Month Club. Awesome! Deanna said, I'm a member, I'm so excited. Karen said, I love it. Now the next one is completely different style and one that I just love and had so much fun painting last year. It brings out the little kid in me. This one is our Halloween— excuse me— our Halloween gnome. Can you see all this chunky fun glitter on there? That is a medium that I added to the paint on top of the painting. Then we've also got some metallic gold down in the pumpkin, and you're going to learn lots of shading and value change in this one too, just in the details that we've done in the gnome. So how fun is that with our Van Gogh-inspired sky in the background? So as a Painting of the Month Club member, if you are a current one, you do not have to do anything. If you are new and you have not signed up to be a Painting of the Month Club yet, you can sign up starting today, and you have until September 30th at midnight to get signed up, and you get not one but both of the paintings. So I hope you guys are excited about it. Obviously, it's all about pumpkins, it's all about fall, um, two completely different styles— whimsical and fun, and then a little bit more traditional. But I will tell you this, you are going to learn so much in these two tutorials all the different techniques that we use in both of those paintings is really going to bring your painting to the next level. So I'm super excited for you guys. Hey, Sandy said, I'm a Painting of the Month Club member and I love the gnome. Cindy said, Painting of the Month Club member here, very excited for both. I'm glad you guys are excited. So, um, this is— I've only done this one other time, and I think it was like a year and a half ago, maybe it was even in 2021, we did a bonus. But, um, once a year I'll do this inside of Painting of the Month Club, and I thought this is a perfect time to do it with us celebrating 10 years. So you get both paintings for only $20, so $10 a piece, and you have until September 30th to sign up. So I hope you guys are excited. I hope you come and join us. A few questions that I normally get about Painting of the Month Club. For those of you that are new, and you can let me know in the comments if you have any other questions, um, you do not have a limited amount of time to paint these. So once you are a Painting of the Month Club member and whatever painting you get that month, you have lifetime access to it, and it all is stored on our membership library. So it's off of Facebook, you log into the website, and everything is there for you, broken down into multiple videos for each one of them. Someone asked, is the lantern one on canvas? Did I just read that? Yes. Yeah, this one is on canvas. They both are. Um, but you guys can paint on whatever you want to. Um, you don't always have to paint on the same surface as me. A lot of people will even take, um, different paintings and change— like, this one's on a 10 by 20. You can make that 16 by 20 and make the background bigger. So get creative with it, make it your own. You can paint them on wood panels. We're painting on all kinds of stuff, anything you see. We've had women paint some of the paintings on cups. You could do serving trays. Like, the ideas are endless. And the other thing, if you are a maker or a crafter, you have permission to take these designs and you can either in your local paint parties if you want to do a paint party with these, or you can paint these and sell your own version. So if you're going to do a fall craft show or anything like that, you can take these designs and any of the designs in Painting of the Month Club or My Tribe if you are a member, and you have permission to sell your original pieces that you've created from those paintings as well. Let me see what else. Else we have here. Yes, October is the perfect month. I agree. It's Kylie's birthday in October, so that's crazy that I have a 20-year-old, but also marks, um, the 10 years of the Social Easel because it all started with her birthday party. So if you haven't heard my story before, um, I just shared it the other day, but when Kylie turned 10, she wanted to do a painting party. And so given my background and all the years of painting experience that I had, I'm like, I can do that. And then Corey built— let me grab you and show this to you. Corey built 10 of these easels, the same ones that we used at my paint nights for 6 years, and we had 10 little girls around our table and I taught them how to do a painting. And one of the— when the moms came, they couldn't believe the girls had done it, and they were like, oh my gosh, you need to do this. Like, you should do this, um, for us. Like, you need to do this for grown-ups. And so I was like, well, I don't know if I can do that or not, but I guess we can try. And so I came up with a Christmas tree design that you guys will see later this year. We have another special with that coming. And I had 10 of my friends around that same dining room table and taught them how to paint, and That was the beginning of The Social Easel. And from there, I started in doing small in-home parties, then landed in a boutique, and that 10-person sold out. And then we went to 20, and then that sold out, and then we went to 30, and it kept growing. Um, by the time I was done doing local paint nights here, we averaged around 45 to 50 women a night at my paint parties. And now here we are 10 years later, and I'm teaching you guys from all over the world. So it has just been a crazy, a crazy ride and an amazing one. And I'm so excited that, you know, now I'm not, um, stuck just only sharing locally. It's so fun to get to teach online with you guys and share my love of art and painting online with everyone. So I hope you guys are excited and I hope you enjoy this Painting of the Month Club collection. So if you hopped in late, these are the October paintings. You are getting both of them, so you're gonna get the, um, Fall Still Life with Lantern and the Halloween Gnome. You get both of them for only $20, and you can cancel at any time with Painting of the Month Club, so you are not locked in for a certain amount of months. But this is My favorite time of year from here until the end of the year. We've got some really, really fun ones planned for the members that you are not going to want to miss out on. So hope you guys are excited and I'm sure I will see you next week to be sharing more fun things that we have coming with the Social Easel. So I will talk to you guys soon. Bye.
