Day 1 of Paint Week with Christie

In this live kickoff for Paint Week, Christie Renee Hawkins welcomes viewers, explains the week‑long painting series, and gives a step‑by‑step demo of a simple pumpkin painting. She outlines the daily schedule (watercolor pumpkin on Tuesday, impasto pumpkin on Wednesday, mixed‑media pumpkin on Thursday) and demonstrates basic brushwork, color mixing, and use of templates. Throughout the session she promotes her online community, Tribe, describing its membership tiers, pricing, 14‑day money‑back guarantee, and the extensive resources it offers (the Vault of 195+ tutorials, monthly new paintings, critiques, Zoom paint parties, a PDF supply list, bonus art prints, brush sets, palettes, and other swag). Christie answers numerous live comments, clarifying technical questions (brush types, modeling paste, sealing, background colors) and community questions (access to replays, sharing artwork, selling finished pieces). She emphasizes a supportive, non‑perfectionist mindset, encourages viewers to experiment, and announces a daily giveaway for live participants. The video serves both as a beginner‑friendly painting lesson and a promotional funnel for the Tribe membership.

Hey everybody, I am so excited to have you here tonight. Welcome to Paint Week, and we are going to be going live every day this week. So in addition to learning the simple little pumpkin that we're going to do tonight, each day of the week I'm going to be doing a different project with you, and we are so excited to do this because it means that the doors to my tribe are open. We have only opened to the public once this year, and that is right now. So unless you have joined me in a workshop previously, this is the first time in 2024 that we have opened the doors to new members. So I'm so excited about that. You're gonna hear all about it tonight and the rest of this week, some of the fun things that we have in store for you. And I'm gonna be here to answer any of your questions. So, before we get started, I want to kind of give you an overview of what you can expect to hear. Oh, I see someone saying you can't hear me. Hang on just a minute. Can everyone else hear me? I have my mic on. And it should be on screen. Okay, that had me panicked for a second. So if you're having issues, we're clear here. So it may be your connection to the internet. Sorry for like the immediate pause there. If you, if you don't have sound, you can't hear me, but you need to come get out and go back in, and sometimes that will reset it. So, Nev, if you can type that in the comments— Nev is going to be here with me. She's on my team helping me answer questions in the comments. So if I don't see them, she'll be there to help you as well. So, okay, now that I know you can hear me, I'm going to keep going. I'm going to move this down just a little bit, and I am going to show you what else we're going to do this week. So I would love to know in the comments if you have painted before, if you are brand new to painting, if maybe you've always wanted to paint but you haven't done it yet and, um, you're a little nervous. So let me know where you're at, and then while you're typing that, I'm gonna grab the paintings to show you. Okay, so the way we are doing Paint Week, I kind of structure this to give a mirror, kind of like an inside look into what being in my tribe is like. So I don't— you can probably tell from the artwork behind me, I don't just teach in one style. So I do lots of different types of painting. I love exploring. I will be a learner for life, and I love sharing what I learn and what I create and sharing it with you guys. And all of that happens inside of Tribe. So if you have been following me for a while on social and maybe you've done a workshop or something with me, I do those every once in a while, but my regular every month new paintings all go into Tribe. So if you're wanting access to those and a whole lot more, that's what Tribe is all about. So this We are going to be going over some of the different ways that I teach inside of Tribe. So tonight we are going to start super simple. I want to give you a quick win if you haven't painted before. I'm just learning some simple brushstrokes, how much paint to have on your brush, even mixing colors a little bit. All of that may sound a little intimidating, but it's going to be super fun and easy. That's what we're going to be doing tonight. Sorry, let me scroll down. I think we're having so many comments come through, this little side screen is not keeping up. Haley said she's been painting with me for 3 and a half years. Yes, we have some tribe sisters who have been with me some 4 or 5 years now. Gail said, does a tribe membership have past tutorials? Yes. So I will get into all of those details. But to answer your question, yes, you get 2 new paintings with me every single month. In addition to some other things, but you also get access to the vault. So everything that you see behind me, this is just a sampling of what is inside. I have my walls kind of decorated in the studio. I've got Christmas over here and fall over here, and then I've got some more downstairs. But when you go to the link, you are going to see all that information. You can actually even click on the lookbook, and it's a little image and it says lookbook for 2024, and you can scroll through that and see all of the paintings that are included when you become a Tribe sister. Replays for all of these lessons all week long are going to be available until Friday when we close doors to Tribe. So even if you can't join live, you can go back and watch the replays anytime before Friday at midnight. Okay, so this is what we're doing tonight. Then tomorrow, come back and join me. We're alternating times each day. If you're not sure what that means in your time zone, just Google it, a time zone converter. It's super simple. It'll tell you exactly what time that is. We have a PDF pack if you didn't download it and print it off that has all the supplies that I'm going to be using this week, and it also has your full agenda here so you can mark your calendar and mark down when you want to come back and paint with me. And like I said, if you can't join the lives, as soon as the live feed is over, they're immediately available for replay, so you don't have to wait any time at all. So tomorrow at 4, we are going to be doing this watercolor pumpkin. So the watercolor pumpkin is so fun. Um, we do a little bit of watercolor inside of Tribe. It's actually also our painting for Painting of the Month Club today. So if you want to dabble in watercolor or even treating acrylics like watercolor, which is something I've kind of started playing with a couple years ago. This is really fun. So come back tomorrow, and you're going to learn all about how to do that. And then on Wednesday we are doing— I have so many pumpkins here. I'm trying to keep them all sorted. On Wednesday we are doing this impasto style, which basically just means thick-bodied, like 3D kind of look off of your canvas. So this is an impasto style pumpkin. Um, and we are going to do this with modeling paste. I just did a lesson inside my tribe, um, doing this— here, let me grab it for you— doing this as flowers. And the tribe sisters are having so much fun with this, and it's a whole different way to do your painting. So again, I mentioned I like to do a lot of things. I am Slightly obsessed with impasto style painting right now. I love thick-bodied acrylics. I love working with a palette knife. So if all of that sounds new to you or interesting, you're going to learn all about that on Wednesday and how to create your own little impasto style pumpkin just like this. Okay, then on the final day, we are doing a mixed media pumpkin, and I have two. And you actually did get templates for both of them. I'm not going to do both of them, but I did provide you templates for both of them because they use the same method. Um, it's just a different style. I decided to do just a fun vertical kind of skinny pumpkin on this one. I, I'm absolutely in love with this, by the way. And then I added the checkers on the sides and in the background. So mixed media basically means a bunch of different mediums that you use in your artwork. So that may be paper, napkins, paint pens, scrapbook paper, all tissue paper, all that different kind of stuff. In both of these, that's an example of what mixed media is. and it is so fun and a little bit addicting once you start. So those are just a few of the different styles that I teach inside of Tribe and what you are going to learn this week in Paint Week with me. Okay, let me check for a couple questions really quick. Awesome. Helen said the impasto style was so fun. I did 3 of them. So Helen is a Tribe Sister who actually also got to come here to my in-person, um, Tribe Sister Retreat a few weeks ago, and, um, we had so much fun doing them that she had to do 3 of them. Let me grab a drink of water real quick. Hey Jackie, Tribe Sister joining from Utah. Jesse said, is there— Jesse May said, is there more than one kind of modeling paste? So there's tons of different brands, but modeling paste is modeling paste. So it doesn't matter what brand you use. I was even telling the Tribe Sisters last week, I've bought several different ones. I test different ones out on Amazon, and some tend to dry faster than others. Some have a slower dry time, which we found out at my event, the really slow dry time. So, But they're still all going to do the same thing. It's going to give that 3D look to your artwork. Hey, Miss Tammy! Tammy is here. She has been a Tribe Sister since 2020. So awesome! And Tammy also teaches and does her own artwork as well. Let's see. Um, Gail said, what state are you located in? I am in Missouri. I am in Springfield, Missouri. Okay. Yay, welcome, Jane said. I just joined Tribe. This is my second class. We are so happy to have you. Yvonne said, was there a PDF in an email or did I miss it? Yes. So when you signed up for— if you signed up and opted in for that, then you would have gotten a PDF download, and it comes with the templates. It comes with the agenda, supply list, and then templates that I'm going to show you how to trace onto your artwork. Um, we will talk all about modeling paste. I'm going to get more into that on the day we actually do that, and I'll show you a couple different brands. That I have. So tonight, what we're going to do again, we're just doing this simple one, and I am just using my brushes. I have my own Social Easel brush set that I have created, and then I am using my colors from my DecoArt set. So I have a partnership with DecoArt, and the Social Easel has their own paint set with them, and I got to hand-select those colors. So you can probably tell from the paintings behind me I like bold, bright colors, and that's what the paint set is. But if you don't have that paint set, you can just go grab some different color craft paints. They don't need to be the exact same color as mine. This is your artwork, and these are just examples of what I did. It doesn't even mean I'll necessarily use the exact same colors in this. So what you learn inside of Tribe— if you're new here tonight and you're thinking you have to have all the right things, You don't. Okay, use what you have on hand. You don't have to have the exact same colors as me. I walk you through everything step by step. So I'm going to even— you're going to learn color mixing tonight. You're going to further learn that inside of Tribe, and you're not going to feel so reliant on thinking that you have to have that, that exact same brand or that exact same color. So in case you guys didn't know, we are a global community, which means we have members from all over the world, not just the US. But US, Canada, the UK, Australia. We had people joining from Italy last week and Greece inside of our pumpkin workshop. So there are people all over the world joining in, and we don't all have the same supplies everywhere. So whatever you have is fine to work with this. I am just using craft acrylics, which is super simple and inexpensive, more fluid paint that you can buy at craft stores. Or you can buy online at Amazon or DecoArt. Carrie said the paints are sold out again. Yeah, we have had so many people buying the paint sets, they keep selling out. So I will touch base with DecoArt tomorrow and see if we have an idea of when the sets are coming back in. So like I said, if you can't get my set right now, that's okay. Use what colors you have on hand. Okay. And you can— and you've just posted this. This is the link to DecoArt in the comments, and there is a button when you go to my set, because it is sold out right now, that it will say notify me, and you can click that button, and then you'll get an email from DecoArt when it's available again. Okay guys, I'm going to go off the screen for a minute, and I'm going to give you an overhead view. This is the same way I teach inside a Tribe, so you will get an idea of what you can expect inside of there. So let me switch cameras. So this is my original, and I'm going to kind of go up just a little bit. Okay, and making sure everyone can still see and hear me, and I'm gonna grab my apron and my chair, and we are gonna get ready for session number 1. So let me know, um, in the comments if you are painting along tonight. Maybe you're just watching and hanging out. That is That's totally fine. I don't want you to feel like you have to be painting along with me. Inside Tribe, I actually encourage the ladies to come and join me during my live lessons, hang out, talk with me, ask me questions about the painting process, and then I tell them that the best way for them to learn is to go back and watch that replay again when they're not trying to watch me, listen to me, take notes. You know, you're doing too many things when it's live, so I feel like it's super helpful to watch, kind of get the process down, and then go back and use the replays, and you can paint on your own schedule at your own time. And I also want to remind you guys that you don't have to paint at the same speed as me. So if it feels like I'm moving fast, just know you can go back to the replays and slow those down. Pause them, stop them, rewind them whenever you want to. Awesome. Denise is painting. Donna's just watching tonight. Kirsten is watching and waiting for the replay to paint. And we will have a post tomorrow on the Social Easel page where you are going to be able to share your artwork from today too. So Nev will be making a post. and you get to share your progress under that post. What did I just do, you guys, with my template for tonight? I stacked it right underneath here. Okay, so you have all been provided this template in your pack. Now you're going to see I'm doing a different size canvas tonight. I wanted to do a little bit bigger because I thought it would be easier to see. So the original template is for an 8x8, and I, I designed this one to go off the canvas. If you want to make it fit inside of there, you can adjust that, of course. Um, so for this one, it doesn't quite fill the canvas, so you're going to see me kind of go out on the edges a little bit. I'm actually going to freehand it, but for those of you that have not done a template before, I want to show you how they work. So this you're just printing off from your printer, and then this is graphite paper or transfer paper. It's called both things. And you always want to put the shiny black side down first. So we'll do it on this scrap piece of paper that I have underneath here, and then you lay your template on top of it. And you can use— this is just a little stylus that I have, but you can use a pencil or pen, whatever you want. And you're just going to go over those lines. And I always tell people, you don't have to be like super serious and perfectionist with this because these are just giving you a brief, simple outline for your pumpkin. So see that? It just draws it right on there. So it's super handy. Um, we provide templates, um, for several of the paintings inside Tribe, but we do not provide them for every single one, and I'll be explaining why that is the case as we go further along this week. But a lot of, um, The paintings that I teach, especially like impasto style paintings, palette knife painting, if it's not a certain structure that you really need the outline for, we actually build and I show you how to do all of that step by step. Okay, so like I said, I'm going to freehand mine. Hopefully I grabbed a pencil that actually has lead in it. So if you do want to try your hand at drawing, if you didn't get the template, this like I said, very basic shape. We're going to start with the middle and we're just going to do like a big oval. So you can kind of even see when I'm sketching, this is— I'm not pushing down really hard on this. This is a light, loose sketch. I don't want to push down really hard and make it a super defined line there. So we want to start with our oval in the middle, and then I'm just going to come out kind of add another one, and they're just kind of overlapping. Okay, so this one is going to go behind there. And what I love about pumpkins is they're all different sizes, so it doesn't have to look a certain way. I am just wanting to kind of fill the majority of the space and not leave too much negative empty space around the sides of the pumpkin. And then we're just gonna— I'm gonna kind of come up on the top and kind of start a little stem. Same thing with this, you can make your stem however you want. I always like to do like little curly Q's, so you can have kind of a more whimsical stem, or if you don't want to do that, you know, you could just sketch like a short kind of stubby one. Okay, so that is the very simple beginning. Okay, and Nev, I'm noticing some people— it sounds like maybe like the people who are viewing from Facebook, because we're on this livestream link, we're on Facebook, and we're also on YouTube right now, and it sounds like maybe some of the issues might be coming from Facebook. So if you can, I know it seems counterintuitive to post the link to what we're actually live on right now, but people may be able to open that in a new tab and get back in here and have sound if they're not, if there's some kind of glitch on their end. Okay, so that's step 1. It's just getting it on there, right? So now I've got my palette. Any palette you have is fine. Paper plate, Styrofoam plate. This is a ripaway palette that I have in my Amazon store that I just think is super handy. Handy. And I'm just going to start putting some colors on here. This is, um, called Tiger Lily, but it's basically just a really bright and rich orange. This one is called Bright Salmon, but it is like a coral color. Now, if you don't have salmon and let's say all you have is orange, just adding a little bit of white to this is going to give you a very similar coral color to that. And then let's see, I think I did some of this berry color in this. This is Berry Cobbler, so just kind of like a— obviously self-explanatory— berry-looking color. And then this may be a little surprising to some of you that I'm pulling this color out, but we're gonna do Ultra Blue Deep. As well, um, because I'm going to use that to make like this rich kind of purpley color down here. Okay, good, you guys are not having issues on Facebook. Fantastic. Uh-oh, this one may be clogged. Another great thing to have this little stylus thing for is to get clogs out of your paint bottles if you're like me and you don't remember to always close the lid. You would think by now I would remember that, but I'm usually in too much of a hurry. Okay, so I'm going to start with those and then grab a little bit of white and black, and then I'll come back for the gold later. This is the gold that I'm going to be using. It's 24-karat gold. Again, you can get metallics anywhere. And then another really pretty one— I didn't use it in the original, but I might use it tonight or even on our pumpkins later this week is this copper. So these are the Extreme Sheen from DecoArt. I love, love them. And then, um, for background color— so when I first painted this, this was a teal background. Sorry, I'll move it underneath that. And then I was like, I kind of want like a little bit of that teal showing through, but I, I wanted to have a cream color on top of it, so I mixed my own cream color and added that over top. So you guys can make your background colors whatever you want them to be. Again, this is your painting, so you can pick which colors you want. All right, who's ready to get started? I'm gonna give everyone a chance to get situated. While you guys are doing that, I'm going to share this screen really quick because this is the first day that we are open to Tribe. We have a huge early bird special, and this is— every year they get bigger and bigger, um, so this is the biggest one yet. And when you become a Tribe sister, if you join before tomorrow night at midnight, you are going to get access to these 11 bonus paintings. These are not included in Tribe. These are from some past workshops that I've done over the years, um, including an additional one— 11 plus 1. We decided to add the Go to the Pumpkin Patch workshop. So if you missed that workshop and didn't get signed up for it, it's no longer available, but we are making it part of Tribe. So when you become a Tribe sister, you're going to get access to the Go to the Pumpkin Patch workshop in addition to all these other ones. And I have to stop and mention the Christmas trees really quick. I'm going to kind of zoom in on this because this was our Merry Christmas Tree workshop that we did last November, I believe. And you're actually getting like 4 mini lessons in one. So this is a huge bonus worth over $400 that you get when you become a Tribe sister, um, either tonight or tomorrow by midnight. So, um, I'm going to go over a little bit of what you can expect. Let me stop that screen. Um, inside of TRIBE, when you become a TRIBE sister, you are going to get immediate access to our vault, which has over 195 different paintings to choose from. And you'll get to see some of those if you click on the lookbook. On that page. You are going to get 2 new paintings with me each and every single month. I do a devotional inside of the group each month. We do Zoom paint parties, and then we also do critiques. And this is a new addition to Tribe, and I'm so excited about it because critiques are insanely beneficial when you start painting and you're maybe feeling stuck in an area, or you're not sure what you're supposed to do next as a painting. That is the benefit of being in Tribe. You're going to be able to post your work inside of Tribe, share it with others, ask for feedback, and then you also have the option to submit it to me to be critiqued at the end of the month. And these are not mean critiques. These are simple, super helpful critiques, and it's a fundamental part of, you know, learning and growing as an artist. And it's something I did in my masterclass, and I'm so excited to be able to bring it to tribe. So those are just a few of the things you can expect inside of there. Just, where's that question? Gail said, is that included in the— Gail, you're speaking about the Painting of the Month Club. The tribe membership is either $47 per month or $470 for the year. So we do have a new perk that we have added this year as well. Right now, all I'm doing is just grabbing my orange straight from— I'm going to scoot this over a little bit, actually. I like you guys to be able to see my palette while I'm doing this too, if possible, if we can fit it all on the screen. Okay, that work? So I'm just doing straight orange. We're just going to put a very quick base coat on here. So I just want to stop and explain what I'm doing really quick while I'm talking. And I'm not even— you don't even have to fill this in 100% all the way, but get plenty of paint on your brush so that it glides smoothly and you're filling in the majority of that, that pumpkin shape. So as I mentioned, Tribe is $47 a month or $470 for the year. If you join monthly at the $47 a month, I am so sure that you're going to love being a Tribe sister so much that we have added a 14-day money-back guarantee. So you truly have nothing to lose but everything to gain from being in this group. So if you're unsure, if you're, you know, you want to take a peek in there, you want to be in it for a couple of weeks, I want to give you that opportunity. Because we only open once a year to the public, and I don't want this opportunity to pass you by, and then you're kicking yourself in a couple months saying, man, I wish I would have just jumped in and done it. This is your chance to jump in, try it out for 14 days, and see what you think. And if you're not happy with it within those first 14 days, then you can get a full refund on your first $47 a month. But I will tell you, the value of what you get inside of TRIBE is well worth more than $47 a month because you get access to so much. And that was just about the price I charge per person to come paint with me at my local paint night. So you are getting a huge value for doing that. Norma said, are you dipping your brush in the water at the beginning or the end at all? I don't add any water to my acrylic paint for this. Style of painting. So I'm just going to go straight into my paint onto my canvas. Okay, so that's all I'm going to do right now. Um, now I'll put it in my, uh, my paint cup when I'm done with it. I'm going to grab some of my, um, Bittersweet Chocolate. Any dark brown that you have is fine. And I'm going to grab one of my smaller brushes. This is the number 2 out of my set, which is just a longer, skinnier, uh, liner brush so that I can add in the details around here. So again, we're not getting anything too fancy with this right now, just some basic colors, but we are going to be adding some more colors in. And then for this style of painting, um, I'm actually doing the background last. So we're going to get our shape on here, and then we're going to come back and kind of add some of the background color around it. I wanted it kind of, kind of messy. Okay, so we've got our basic shapes and colors down. Um, Becky said, I was a tribe sister. Hold on, Becky, I'm going to pull your comment up. Oh, I lost it. Okay, Becky says, I was a Tribe Sister a while back. If I join up again, I will get the bonus paintings as well. Yes, everyone who joins before midnight tomorrow night will get those bonus paintings, and they are accessible to you as long as you are a Tribe member. So if you cancel, then you lose those bonuses as well. And unfortunately, the reason we have to do that is because people thought there was a way they could kind of just sneak in and get access to all of the bonuses and then just cancel immediately. So, um, when you cancel, you lose the access to those bonuses as well. Um, Anita said, I think Anita, you're asking about the pumpkin patch workshop. That is, you have lifetime access to that if you signed up for the Go to the Pumpkin Patch. And all of those were just added to your library this morning as well. Terry, the first brush I was using was just one of my big rounds. So for this, since we're just filling in like a basic shape, it doesn't really matter what kind of brush you use for that. This is, like I said, just kind of like a normal round brush. Mine's number 5, but that's just on my custom set, that 5 doesn't translate to other brands. You could also use a filbert brush, which is like, you know, a curved one. So it really doesn't matter what type of brush you use, but like a good size round is always good to use. Gail said, do you have to seal your paintings to protect them? I don't seal a lot of mine. However, when you do seal them, They do have kind of a more finished look to them, more of a sheen. So that's totally optional, and we go over that and try— there's lots of different varnishes and finishes that you can put on your acrylic paintings to protect them. I highly recommend it if they're going to be outside, especially, or if you're going to store them and pull them in and out of storage, like maybe seasonal paintings. I recommend sealing those so they don't get scratches and scuff marks on them. Learned that from not doing it. Jesse May said, how do you access the library? When you become a Tribe Sister, you get a login, and we have a full website at tribesister.com that is called the Vault, and the Vault is only accessible to Tribe Sisters, and that's where those 195+ tutorials are. And if you guys want, I'll show you kind of like a sneak peek sneak preview of that at the end of our class tonight. Okay, so we've got our orange. I'm going to go back to this first round that I'm using, and I'm going to grab some of that coral and orange together, and I'm just going to start adding in some additional brush strokes. So I purposely let this start drying a little bit while I'm doing it, and if you are completely brand new to painting You want to have enough paint on your brush that it glides and blends smoothly. If it's tugging and pulling, that means you don't have enough paint in your brush. But I purposely let this dry just slightly because you want— when you're working with craft paint and you're building these layers of paint, you want your first layer to be somewhat dry before you start adding in more colors, unless you're wanting them to blend. And in this case, I am. But I'm also wanting to build up the opacity of this, meaning I don't want it to look streaky. And just one coat of orange, it's going to look streaky. So just know that when you're doing it, it doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong with your painting at all. That's just the nature of those paints. They're going to be transparent, and you want to let them kind of dry in between coats. And then build another layer on it. So you can already tell just from me adding that coral in, a little bit more of the orange in there, how much more solid that pumpkin shape is already looking. Um, Jennifer, there are lots of different kinds of sealants. Um, if you guys can also— if you're new to following me, go to thesocialeasel.com and click on the blog. At the top, and you can actually search within that blog. So if you search sealer, there's a whole blog dedicated to the different ones that I recommend and have used. But it's— it really comes down to preference, what— which kind you want to use, whether you want to do a spray-on, a brush-on, whether you want it to be glossy or matte. So all of those are just personal choices. I love that Lisa said, "Tribe sister for life." Yeah, I was doing— you guys are going to see some more interviews this week with our other current tribe sisters, and they were like, I just had this realization, like, you can't ever retire. Like, what are we going to do if you did? Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. But yeah, this community of women is so amazing. If you are wanting to be a part of a group with other people who love painting and being creative also, this is the best group for you because you're going to have so much support in there. You're going to have them cheering you on and encouraging you. Even on your days of struggle, there's always someone in there to lift you up. And you guys, it's so much better than painting alone. There's lots of ways you can go online and learn how to paint, but what I've seen and heard from so many people is they don't stick with it, or they end up feeling frustrated because they don't have the guidance and the support that they need. And that's what you get when you become a part of a community. You're going to have the, the resources, the support. Support. You're not going to be wondering what you need to do. We're going to tell you exactly what you need to do. And just the way I'm breaking down this lesson will be the same way I break down other lessons as we continue to go through the week. I think you'll see, see that as well. Michelle said, should we use a heat tool to dry the paintings? That's up to you. You can let them dry on their own. I always keep a blow dryer near my paint station though. So if I'm feeling impatient or just want to hurry things up and dry them, then I can just blow dry them a little bit. Anita said, do I have to be a Tribe Sister to access the Go to the Pumpkin Patch video, or do I still— Anita, if you paid for that, if you— not everyone signed up for that workshop, so I'm talking to the people who didn't sign up for it. If you paid for the Pumpkin Patch workshop, you You still have access to that. That's not being taken away from you. Um, Hannah, this is a good question. She said, are tribe members allowed to share their paintings on Instagram? Absolutely. So, one of the perks of being a tribe sister is that you do have painting rights, and I'm going to explain what those are. It's also explained on the tribe sister page for you, but you are allowed to use my designs. At in-person paint parties. So local paint parties in your own town, you are allowed to sell the originals that you make with my designs. So your paintings, the ones you're doing tonight, if you have a finished painting from one of my lessons, you're allowed to sell those on Facebook or Instagram. What you cannot do is teach any of the lessons online, and you can't share video process of any of the lessons online. So, like, you couldn't make a reel or a story showing how you painted your finished painting, because that's showing the technique that I teach inside of Tribe. So I hope that is helpful and answers your question. Liz said, how long are most sessions? Liz, I would say most are around an hour, some a little less, and then some a little longer. It really is dependent on the painting and also the size of the painting. So I teach on all different sizes, and like I said, we do different styles. So I don't, I don't limit myself or tell myself I have to be done in a certain amount of time. It just depends on how long the process is with that particular painting. Christina said, I never thought about that. You can't retire. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I love that, Lisa. She said the Tribe Sister community— if I can talk— community is beyond. So much support, prayer for each other, and an uplifting group. That's so awesome. Helen said, I've gained so much confidence from being a Tribe Sister. These ladies have been such a blessing. It really is. It just is amazing, the growth and the difference that you see when you have support along with it. And I was sharing some of the big news with the Tribe Sisters earlier today, but we're even working on a paint planner that we're going to be putting together for Tribe Sisters to help you in your journey even more, because we know that life is crazy. And for those of you that may be new to me and don't know much about my story or my life, I have been married for 24 Right. Yeah, no, 23, 24 next year, 24 years to my husband. We have 3 daughters, one in college, one in high school, one in middle school, all in crazy activities, always busy, always traveling. So I understand life is busy, but creating this planner and helping give you guys basically like a roadmap and trying to help you Plan, trying to help you plan to find the time to paint, because I think so often we just don't take time for ourselves because we put everyone else first. And this is an opportunity for you to do something for you and commit to it. Decide, like, now's the time. I've always wanted to learn how to paint. Like, what's stopping me? We're always going to have something. There's always going to be something in life that is going to keep us busy and you know, change things up for us. But it's up to us to decide how bad we really want something. And when we decide that and make that commitment, just like if you were working out, you couldn't work out one day and expect to lose 20 pounds, right? You make a commitment to that. You didn't gain any additional hours in your day the day you decided to work out. You're not going to gain any additional hours in your day when you decide that you want to learn how to paint, but you change your priorities and maybe you give up a show, maybe you give up a Netflix binge. Listen, I'm totally guilty of it myself, but you start carving out time for something new and something important to you. Um, and we're creating this planner to help you better be able to do that. Um, so I'm really excited about that. That'll be coming to Tribe Sisters in October. Okay, so what I'm doing right now is taking a little bit of my orange. You can see me over here on my palette, and I'm taking some of that berry color. And when we mix those two together, we're just going to get another pretty color. Okay, so because they're warms and they're on the same side of the color wheel, totally safe to mix them. You're not going to get a muddy, yucky color. Now I want to start creating some depth in my pumpkin, so I'm going to start going around my edges with that color I just made. And just a couple quick brush strokes. Now I'm not worried about this blending perfectly right now. I'm going to kind of come over those grooves in our pumpkin. And here's the thing with acrylic painting. If you're watching me do this and you're thinking, oh, she got too much of that berry color on there, she should have left it the way it was. This is what I love about acrylic painting. No matter what you do, if you do something you don't like, it's okay. You can go back and you can cover it up. So you're going to start learning those things, start building your confidence, and start kind of battling that like perfectionism that so many of us deal with. And that same perfectionism that stops us from trying new things because we're scared of failing. But here's the thing, the more you fail, the more you learn. So I say fail forward. Don't be afraid of messing up. Messing up just means you're learning something, and learning is good. That's what this is all about. So all I did right there was just take some of that berry color mixed with my orange and started kind of going around my edges a little bit. I can go in a little bit heavier now. And you can already see it start kind of giving this pumpkin more shape, right? It doesn't look so flat anymore. Awesome. I'm loving— I'm so— I'm just looking back up at the comments, um, really quick, so I'm going to throw a couple of these up. Melanie said, if we are already Painting of the Month Club and join Tribe, does it start after the month is done. So what it'll do, Melanie, if you joined— it depends on when you joined Painting of the Month Club. If you joined this month and you're a brand new member, it would cancel that and it would just switch you over to Tribe instead. So when you sign up for Tribe, it cancels your other one, and all of the Painting of the Month Club paintings are included in Tribe. So you don't have to have both memberships. Tribe includes everything. Carol has been a tribe sister since 2019. That is so amazing, Carol. Um, let's see, Tony, Miss Tony has been with me for so long. She said she's been a tribe sister since April 2019 also. I love that. Mary, tribe sister since September of last year, so celebrating a year right now, Mary. Tammy said you hold your middle finger on the brush and I don't. Does that give you more control or stability? It's probably just how I hold my brush. I'm not sure how you're holding yours, but you're— you kind of want to— the further back you hold it, the looser you're going to paint. I would not hold it like super tight down here. I always kind of have like a loose grip. I'm not gripping super tight because the tighter you grip, the tighter your brushstrokes are going to be and the more forced they're going to look. So you want to kind of just get, get loose with it a little bit. We talk a lot about getting loose inside a tribe. So that's kind of how I hold my— I don't even notice that I put my middle finger there. Yes, Sally said, then you can finger paint. Yes. So Sally is in my tribe as well. Sometimes when we get to this kind of part, if you don't like the way your colors look together, I love using my fingers in my painting too. You can even blend with your fingers. So depending on how messy you want to get, you're just going to learn to start continuing to reach further and further out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself to learn these new skills. And it's so fun, so fun to just keep trying new things. Awesome, Michelle. I'm going to pull that up here. She said, I repainted my Go Pumpkins twice before I was satisfied with the look. I love that it's easy to change if you want to tweak your painting. Very forgiving. That's a great point. I'm glad you brought that up. So Michelle just did the Go to the Pumpkin Patch workshop with me. Was that last week? All my days are blending together now. And, and so we talked about that a lot in there, and I encourage you to try to not get fixated in a point in your painting, because you can overwork an area. So even if you don't love something right now, there's a couple tips that I want to give you when you're painting. One is to take pictures of your progress. So right now, if you're painting, or when you do this on a rerun, you're, you know, probably like 12, 15 inches away from your canvas. You're seeing every possible brushstroke and what you think is a mistake. So One of the ways to overcome that is to take a picture and look at what your painting looks like on your phone. Okay, that's going to give you a different vantage point. The other thing that I tell people to do is to step away from your artwork, because I want you to think about what it's going to be like when it's hanging on a wall. When someone walks into a room and looks at your artwork, they're not going to notice every single brushstroke, right? So as you're painting, try to avoid getting fixated on something and thinking that has to be fixed. It may end up being something that's bugging you at that point in time in your painting, but the more you finish your painting, you don't even remember that there was a brushstroke there that bothered you at the end. But if there is, you can easily go back and touch it up with more paint. So acrylic painting is very, very forgiving. Miss Pauline said she's been here for 4 and a half years. Dawn has been a member since 2020, and yet, yes, thank you, Nee, for mentioning this. So we have never offered this before, and like I said at the beginning, if you joined late, I'm so confident that you are going to love being a part of this group and love everything that it has to offer that we're doing a 14-day money-back guarantee if you sign up for the monthly membership. So you have a chance to jump in, try it, come and paint with us. I'm releasing the October calendar tomorrow. On October 1st, and I'll be sharing that here tomorrow night with you guys. But we have so much fun planned in October. I am going to go ahead and, spoiler alert, tell you one of the things that we're doing inside a Tribe in October is a Zoom paint party with the Tribe sisters where we are going to take— everyone gets to pick their own, whatever they want to do, and we are going to paint one of the paintings from the Tribe vault. On a pumpkin. So these can be Styrofoam pumpkins, they can be real pumpkins. What I would say, Styrofoam, so you can keep it forever. Um, and that is going to be what we do for our Tribe Sister, uh, paint party in October. And I'm so excited about it because we already had some people— Megan is my community manager, and we already came up with this idea. And then we had a couple ladies in the, um, Go to the Pumpkin Patch workshop last week who actually then painted it on a pumpkin, and it looked so cool. So I can't wait to see what everyone because it's going to be a really fun paint party. Hey, Miss Jen, Tribe Sister since 2020 when she retired. So many ladies, this is like what they gift themselves at retirement too. Laura said Tribe Sister since Summer Vibes 2023. Melissa, been a Tribe Sister for just over a year. One of the most wonderful things I have done for myself. And you're going to get to hear more from Melissa later this week. We did an interview together And I love getting to share those tribe sister stories with you guys. Tony said greatest tip ever is to step away from your painting. Yes, sometimes we need to get away from the painting. Okay, hang on just a second. I'm going to read a question here. It's a little long, so give me just a second to read this so I can answer. Sandy was asking, is there something available inside a tribe to help teach about brushes and how to get specific type of brushstrokes? Yes, Sandy. So that's actually a really good question and another bonus that I'm including as a Tribe Sister. So try— for those of you just joining, Tribe is my VIP membership. We've only opened the doors to the public once this year, and that is right now. So unless you've done a workshop with me me, we have not opened doors to having new members, but I did at the beginning of September, um, a jumpstart into acrylics workshop, and that has, um, that will go down, um, tomorrow. But as a Tribe Stitcher, you will have continued access to that, and we're actually adding all those videos to the vault. So, um, and we also have the 4-day basics in acrylics. So if you are still at that point where you're really just wanting to learn the basics. I don't want you to think you have to have any more skill than that to get started. We have women at all levels in the group. Brand new, never painted before is the majority of where people started. And then we have women in here who have been doing it for years, may teach paint parties, they may sell their work, or they just do it because they love it and they love painting. But we have all levels inside the group. But for those of you that are brand new starting out, we have an entire getting started section inside the Tribe's Studio Sister Vault to help you with those very basic things. But I always like to preface this, but you can start anywhere. If you don't want to start with basics and you're really like, I just want to do a painting, then jump in and do a painting. No matter what you pick, I teach you step by step how to do it. So you're in good company and you've got the support and the resources that you need in there. Okay, I'm going to grab a little more paint and then I'm going to try to browse these comments at the same time. So I'm going to grab a little bit more of my coral now. Okay, and then I'm going to pull in a touch of white in there. So we're just making a little bit lighter tint of that to start adding some lighter colors to the top part of our pumpkin. So just kind of imagine if a light was hitting this. You're going to see the lighter parts towards the top, and it's going to be darker towards the bottom. So we're just kind of coming in with some of those lighter colors, and you can decide how much you want to blend this. If you want to keep blending, you can. I also just love seeing the brush strokes. So again, there's really not an exact right or wrong way on that. That is preference and what you like it and how you like your painting. Um, I always tease Linda in our group. She has been a painter for years, and every time I don't even have to see her name attached to her painting to know that it's hers because she has such a signature style and everything is so beautifully blended. She blends and blends and blends. And she came here in person, and I was like, I just want to stand behind you and, uh, watch you when she came to the Tribe Sister Retreat, because I'm like, I'm fascinated with how much she blends. And I tend to be I'm more of a looser painter. I don't, I don't blend everything all the time, and it's just fun to see everyone's different interpretations and styles. Okay, so now I'm kind of bouncing back to some more of that berry color, adding that down below. But can you guys start seeing the form change a little bit? So the more lights and darks, the value changes that we're adding with these deeper, richer colors and these lighter colors is giving more shape and form to our pumpkin. I think she's looking pretty good so far. Marcy is one of our tribe sisters, and I love, I love, love, love Marcy's work. Um, she's always tweaking and changing new things, and she said said, it's fun putting all the styles and lessons I've learned over my time and tribe, making the choices. She will take everything that she's learned and make a painting completely her own, and it is so fun, um, to see what she comes up with every time. Woohoo! Lisa said, Painting of the Month Club since 2023, now a tribe sister since last week. I should have switched earlier. That is what every single Painting of the Month Clubber member says. They're like, man, why did I wait? I should have done this earlier. Dina has been a member since November 2022. You're going to get to hear more from Dina later this week as well. Shanna has been a Tribe Sister since last fall. I've learned so much. Um, I love— I'm not sure what the end of that was supposed to say, Shanna. Love the what? I know Probably community, maybe. That's what I'm guessing. Um, Tammy said the community is golden. I love the support and encouragement. Me too. Yes, Shannon said community. Sorry, hit send. I do it all the time. Christina said, gosh, I just looked at my date. I've been a Tribe Sister since April 2021. I love it. I love having you guys here. Lori said, I'm a Tribe sister. Tribe was my COVID blessing. I'd wanted to learn how to paint my whole life, and I'm learning with each one of these lessons. I love Tribe. I love hearing that too. We have just seen so many women gain so much confidence and do things that they never thought was possible. And if you guys are following me on social, be sure to check out my stories because we're highlighting Tribe sisters all week long and some of their biggest wins, and it is so fun. To see them. Oh, I'm having the hardest time pulling up all these comments and trying to keep up with them all, so I'm trying my best here. Renee said, as a Tribe Sister, will we have access to these replays beyond Friday? Yes, if you sign up to become a Tribe Sister, all of the lessons from Paint Week will go into your library as well. So that's another perk for joining. If you know you can't get through this week, or maybe your schedule's crazy, maybe you're out of town while we're doing this. If you sign up to become a Tribe Sister, you will have continued access to this paint week, the Jump Start into Acrylics paint week, the Go to the Pumpkin workshop, in addition to everything that is just in Tribe. So you get access to all of the above when you are a Tribe Sister. Okay, so I'm going to start going in with my berry. I'm still using the same brush. I've just rinsed my, um, oranges out of there. I'm gonna get some of this berry, and I'm gonna grab some of that blue, and we're gonna make a rich, deep purple. Um, Linds, I do have someone in the comments as well, but I like to be able to answer these questions, and that is what Paint Week is all about, is talking about Tribe. So I am providing you guys with these free lessons and free learning, but they are also for me to be able to chat with you and talk with you, and that's part of my favorite, favorite part of how I teach inside of Tribe is the live community aspect of it. So, um, we are always talking and chatting while we're painting, and that's what makes it so fun. Um, so yeah, if you're just wanting strictly a painting lesson with no chit-chat, I am probably not the girl for you. Um, I'm gonna go in— so that probably looks pretty significant to you guys right now, but don't Don't fret, we are going to be adding to it. I'm going to pull some of that purpley blue color up into my stem as well, but we're going to kind of keep working this in a little bit and adding layers. So we're all about adding layers in here and then kind of blending these blues, purples, and berries together as well. All right, so I'm going to rinse that. Jesse said, at this point, if your paint is still— if your paint is still wet to blend, or is it drying in between colors? It's kind of like a variation. Now, if you're like looking at your own painting, you know that it's still wet if it's shiny. If it's already matte, then you know it's dried. But depending on whether you're wanting them to blend— like, I don't really want my purpley blue color to blend right with my orange, so I kind of kept it on those outer edges. Um, but now I'm going to come back with some of my orange and coral again and just start kind of throwing some of these brush strokes back in. So it's kind of partially wet, partially dry in some different areas. Um, Janice says, will we learn how to do the brush strokes? So Janice, I mean, just learn by watching is what I would say. You may have joined late, but I was just kind of talking about how I hold my brush too. You don't want to hold it super tight. You want to hold it nice and loose while you're painting. So the more— if you haven't painted at all before, I highly recommend getting a mixed media pad, which is going to be like your practice, your practice place. I'll show you mine. I have an 11 by 14. You can pick whatever size you want to, but this is where you're going to start practicing brushstrokes, practicing color mixing. It's kind of like your own sketchbook for painting. You can do full paintings in here. This is a tried painting. This is from a blog if you want to learn how to paint a gerber daisy, but the mixed media pad is just a place for you to start practicing. So you learn by doing. And I do want to, you know, really kind of hit on that for a minute. There are— this is a whole sheet of us practicing brushstrokes. You can watch my videos or YouTube videos all day long, but until you actually take paint to paper or paint to a canvas, you're only going to learn so much. You really learn by doing, and we— practice makes progress, and we want to focus on each time that we are painting that we are making progress. We're learning something new. And we're really big on positivity inside a tribe. I don't like any negative— oops, sorry, you guys— negative self-talk. We talk a lot about that. We're not trying to be perfect. I don't want my painting to be perfect. I don't want your painting to be perfect. It's just a big fallacy anyway. There's no such thing as perfection, so might as well stop chasing it. So we say progress over perfection, and practice makes progress, not practice makes perfect. Marcy said, um, that little Christy bird with the scarf, so cute. I love my little birds. Um, I feel like— did I paint that with you guys? And I feel like that is somewhere. Maybe I'm imagining that that was from a couple years ago. Um, Wanda was asking, um, What is Painting of the Month Club? This Painting of the Month Club is just one painting taken from my Tribe Sister Vault that is delivered to your member library on the first of each month. And it is only $20 a month to be a Painting of the Month Club member, but it does not include community. It doesn't include me as your personal teacher. So there's no interaction with myself or the community, and you only get access to that one painting per month. So that was created actually during COVID as a lower-priced option for a lot of people who couldn't afford Tribe. So we still have it, but I really want you to also just kind of weigh your options. Today is the last day the Painting of the Month Club is open. It closes on the last day of every month, so it won't be open again until next month on the 15th. But for $20 a month, month, you get that one painting lesson to your library. In addition, I mean, in contrast, for Tribe, you get 2 brand new paintings a month with me, plus the critiques, plus the paint parties and devotionals, and access to the entire vault, which is 195 additional lessons, in addition to all the bonuses. So you get a whole lot more out of Tribe. So it's such a good deal, and ask people in the comments as well. Some are Painting of the Month Club members, some are Tribe. Most people upgrade from Painting of the Month to Tribe because they're ready for more. Once they've done that one, then they're like, okay, what's next? And that's the fun part about Tribe. You're never gonna struggle trying to find what to paint next or know what supplies you need. All of that is provided for you. Michelle said, you need to worry about removing that pencil line on the right, or will it be covered? Nope, that'll be covered up. If you do something like that though, and you don't want it— let me see if I have one. I should have one open somewhere, but I can't find it. You can erase it if you did it with pencil. Um, this is a brand new one. This is a kneaded eraser. These are my favorite kind of erasers because I don't— please do not ever put like pink eraser on your paintings because they leave a pink mark. And it's like the most defeating thing ever when you're like, oh my gosh, I was just trying to get a pencil mark off there, now I've got that on. So the kneaded eraser won't do that. Let me take it out of the packaging real quick and I'll show you. Just tear a little piece here. So I needed a razor. This is what I use the whole time I was in art school. Use it in sketching, drawing, and in your painting classes too. But they're so handy. They don't leave any marks behind, and you can just come in and just erase that. We will actually be using this tomorrow night, our watercolor. Nancy, Painting of the Month Club is included in the Tribe membership. Okay, Cheryl said, how much is being a Tribe Sister? So there's 2 options to becoming a Tribe Sister. You can do $47 a month, or you can do $470 for the year, and that gives you a little bit of a discount. So these are your options. If you do the annual contract, that's the equivalent of getting 2 months for free. If you do the monthly contract, then you can cancel at any time. You're not committed to a 1-year contract. It's $47 a month. And then new this year, we're doing a 14-day money-back guarantee. So if you join monthly, you can jump into the group for $47 a month. And if you're not 100% satisfied after 2 weeks of hanging out and painting with this, then you can email in and request a refund. So we added that option because I am just so excited to have you guys come, and I don't want that to be a reason people don't join. I want you to just jump in, come join us, see what you think, and see how much fun you have inside of there. Helen said, I was Painting of the Month Club for 3 months before I upgraded because one painting a month was not enough. You get so much more. Yeah, it's definitely a better value. Lynn said, will that eraser erase paint as well? No, it's just going to erase the pencil. Don said, can you upgrade from Painting of the Month Club to Tribe Sister anytime? So we usually do every couple of months. We will send out an email to current Painting of the Month Club members to give you that option, but we haven't done that in a few months. So it's not open year-round for new members. Okay, so right now I'm going to come back in with just my coral. I might add a little bit of white to it. And I'm really just kind of— this is more just preference for me, deciding where, where I want some additional— want a little bit more orange. Mine's all pretty much dry now. So now I'm able to come in. I don't have to worry about those colors mixing. So come back. I'm keeping my darker colors more towards the bottom, and then kind of go like mid-tone in the middle. And I think I want a little bit more Berry again. The Berry and the Cobbler— you guys, the Berry and the Cobbler, that's not what I meant to say. The Berry and the Coral also make a really pretty color together. So, um, don't be afraid to kind of mix your colors on your palette and see what you up with. It makes like this pretty like rose, almost like mauve color. It's really soft and subtle. So I'm going to add some of that in, and then I'm going to let this dry, um, before I add the gold, and we'll work on our background for a little bit. Brenda is also one of our Tribe Sister mentors in the group. So we have mentors in the group that are there to help you and guide you as well, in addition to myself and in. She's saying community is a super duper bonus to gain relationships with fellow painters and sisters in Christ. Also, Christy is so genuine and relatable as an artist and sister. Thank you, Miss Brenda. Um, we have seen so many awesome and special friendships come out of this, and I talk about it all the time, like, you are who you surround yourself with. So make sure you're surrounding yourself with positive and uplifting people. And if you don't have that in your life, then come be a part of our group. That's what it's all about. I'm going to come in with some of that lighter color again, and I'm just going to be really light with it. So I'm not pushing down hard. I don't want to overpower the pumpkin, so I'm just going to put a couple brushstrokes down, wipe off some of that excess, maybe pick up a little coral. And then just kind of blend that in a little bit. And then I'm going to let that dry before I add the gold in. Even just those little bits of highlights there, I think, make such a big difference. Okay, so I think I'm going to do something a little different on this one. So on my original, I painted teal all the way around this. Again, this is your painting. Painting. You can make it however you want to. I'm actually gonna go a little bit darker. I think I'm gonna do like some dark blues and purples in my background, and then once it dries, add some of the teal over top of it, um, and just show you guys how that looks. So this is— this has a background color with another color on top of it. We're just going to switch it up. You'll also find inside of Tribe that I like to constantly change and do new things. So you're always going to be learning new fresh styles of painting or new ways to interpret colors in your painting, and it's not all just one way. I don't always teach with just a template. I don't always start each painting the same way. Each painting I do and try different, and the style and the way that I teach it is different. So What you'll find is that you have the opportunity to continue to explore and learn all these different techniques, and then find the style that speaks the most to you. I will tell you, just from the tribe sisters that I've had conversations with, like several of them, when they started, they were scared of palette knife, and they're like, oh, I don't know about palette knife, and, and they may have even struggled with for a while getting used to it. To it, but now it has become one of their favorite things to paint with. So, you know, like, you never know what you're gonna love until you try. So I would say be open-minded and explore. I'm constantly telling them, like, play, just play. Like, if you're feeling tense, if you're feeling like, oh my gosh, this isn't turning out right, like, take a breath, turn some fun music on, roll your shoulders back, like, just relax. And know it's going to be okay. It's just paint. If you don't like something, you can paint over top of it. But I think so often we're so hard on ourselves and we expect ourselves to just get something immediately. You're learning a new skill and you don't have to be born as a super creative person. Every single one of us has creativity instilled inside of us. Some of us may have just never been taught the skills that we needed to know how to tap into that. And I feel like that's one of my purposes in life, is to continue. I knew how much I loved painting. It was all I ever wanted to do since I was a little girl, was be an artist. I've been painting since I was probably 4 years old. I went to school for it. My mom was an artist. My grandpa was an artist. Artist, but just because that's my story doesn't mean that that has to be your story. And you didn't have to come from that type of background in order to create art, to do art, and to call yourself an artist. Every single one of us is created in the image of God, and he is the original creator, and he created you to be creative. And my job is to help you tap into that creativity and find what you love. I'm already liking this with the dark blue background itself. So I did just a big filbert brush because it was easier to fill in faster for that, and I picked filbert instead of a flat because it has the curved shape and I'm, I'm painting with curves, so that's just going to make that easier for me. I'm going to go back with my skinnier one in between here. And I also am not trying to get these like perfect little edges around here. So if you're worried about that, and some of you may have said, well, I don't know why she did the background last, she should have done it first, you can absolutely do that if you want to, but that's just not the style of painting that I'm doing for this. So I'm going to do the blue up around, and then we'll let some of that show through. I think I'm going to come back and add some teal over top of this once it dries. And we're just going to play with it and see. I may change my mind. And you are allowed to do that when you're painting. You can change your mind as many times as you want to. I was teasing with the, like, go to the pumpkin patch workshop. I repainted that. That original painting took me hours upon hours because I kept changing my mind on how I wanted it to be. And sometimes that's just The, the journey, right? Like, you have to embrace that. You're going to have messy middles of your paintings where you're not so sure, and you're going to have those parts in your paintings where you have to make some choices. And that's where you can come into the group and ask for help. That's where you can submit your paintings for a critique from me if you want my guidance on what I would suggest doing at this point in time in your painting. All of that comes with having a community. So, um, I'm going back in right now just adding with my skinny brush some more of these purpley plummy colors down here. I just feel like I want more, and I'm going to grab some black because I want my background to dry before I do anything to it. Martina said, will you be using a palette knife this week? I will. We are going to be doing palette on Wednesday when we do the impasto style pumpkin, so I'll show those again in case you missed it. This is going to be what we do Wednesday. The watercolor is going to be what we are doing tomorrow, and then our final one, if I can reach it, is going to be our mixed media. And these are two versions of different mixed media pumpkins that I did. So you get to learn all these different styles this week, and the more things that you try out, the more you kind of find what your sense of style is and what you really love. Of. Okay, while that is still drying, I'm gonna— oh, I just— you guys, look what I did! Just smeared paint all my paintbrush here. So let's wipe that off really quick. I'm gonna stick that in my water cup. Um, while we're letting this dry, I'm going to set it aside for just a moment. And I'm going to pull over the happy mail that you guys have an option to win for being here live. So if you can mark your calendars for the rest of this week to be here live, I encourage you to do so for a chance to win. If you can't, you still have access to the replays, but we are doing a live giveaway for one lucky winner that will be randomly selected from comments. So this is, this is our participation award, but someone each day this week is going to get a happy mail package from me. Do you guys want to see what's inside? Kate said, for tomorrow, are you using watercolors or watered-down acrylic? I'm actually going to show both things tomorrow. So you can see the difference. Claudia, these replays are going to be available through Friday night at midnight unless you do become a Tribe Sister, then you'll have continued access and they will go into your library. Good, good, good. You guys want to see? Someone said happy mail is the best. It's so— and I love putting it together. So, um, let's see what we have here. The first thing is going to be a signed art print by me. This is one of my favorite ones. This is the Bold Blooms. This is also one of the bonus tutorials that you will get if you sign up tomorrow night before midnight. And all current Tribe sisters, um, by the way, if you missed my live, I did do a live inside of Tribe today telling you everything you need to know about this week. Um, but all Tribe sisters are going to be getting those bonuses as well. So someone will get this signed art print. Well, you get everything in here. That's just one of the things. You're going to get my 15-piece brush set. So this is a custom brush that I had designed. It comes with the bag, which is awesome. You can fit your palette knives, your brushes, your paint pens, everything inside of this little drawstring bag. It's great for travel, but it's my full set of paintbrushes, and that is a $40 value just for that. What else do we have in here? Your own palette. This is an acrylic palette that you can do your paints on, and then you can just rinse and scrape the paint off after it's dried. You're going to get a set of palette knives. This is a set of plastic ones that come in all different sizes, so great for experimenting and playing, especially if you are going to start— if you fall in love with modeling paste and impasto style painting that we do Wednesday, you're going to love having these these palettes as well. What else do I have in here? That's just telling you how to take care of your brushes. And last but not least, I love the little fun things to add in. So you're going to get a Trust the Process sticker. Um, put this somewhere, maybe on your laptop, your iPad, somewhere in your creative space to remember to trust the process and give yourself grace that you are learning something new. You're going to get one of my cute little birdie magnets to stick on your fridge just to make you happy. And then the— try to hold that where you can see it— the Joy to the World Christmas magnet.
