FREE Rustic Pumpkins PJ Paint Party! My Inner Tribe VIP Painting Membership is open!

In this live YouTube session, Christie Renee Hawkins, owner of The Social Easel, hosts a free "Rustic Pumpkins" paint‑along while simultaneously unveiling and promoting her Inner Tribe VIP painting membership. She walks viewers through the step‑by‑step acrylic technique for a rustic pumpkin painting, sharing numerous practical tips (palette‑knife alternatives, color mixing, brush loading, drying times, using gel medium, and canvas preparation). Throughout the session she answers live comments, introduces the Inner Tribe community, outlines its benefits (three original paintings per month, guest artist/speaker sessions, a private Facebook group, a membership hub on Kajabi with over 75 tutorials, live Q&As, and bonus resources), and details pricing ($47/month or $470/year) and limited‑time early‑bird bonuses (seven extra tutorials, past Painting‑of‑the‑Month Club works, a 5‑day challenge). Christie also discusses the business side of art—selling paintings, using the membership to support a paint‑party business, and the importance of a supportive, positivity‑only community. She shares personal faith statements, explains her teaching philosophy (embracing messiness, avoiding perfectionism), and provides logistical information (how to join, where to find supplies, store links, and contact details). The session ends with a recap of membership features, a reminder of the closing date (Oct 1), and an invitation to watch the replay.

Hey everybody, how is everyone doing? I'm gonna pull you guys up and make sure everything's working good. We've got a new setup tonight. We're trying something new out because I want you to be able to see me so I can talk to you, and I want you to be able to see the painting. So does everything Look good and sound good so far. Let me know in the comments. I'm so excited. We're finally here. I feel like it has been so, so long since we opened doors to Tribe and it's finally here again. And we're going to have a really fun paint night tonight and I'm going to answer all your questions about the Inner Tribe membership. So if you are already a Tribe sister, put #tribesister in the comments for me and let me know where you guys are watching from. And everything looks good and sounds good, right? Is it actually— is the tech actually working, working with me? That'd be amazing if it does. Okay, good. I'm gonna jump over here real quick. And get something set up. Look at all these Tribe Sisters on here! Welcome, welcome, welcome! So the link is in the, um, title at the top if you do want to find out more about the Inner Tribe. Like I said, we're going to be talking about it and I'll be sharing more about it. If you're new to me and you don't even know what the Social Easel is, or who I am. My name is Christie Hawkins, and I'm the owner of The Social Easel, and I teach women how to paint with acrylics, um, all levels. So even if you have never painted before, I'm going to teach you how to. And tonight we're going to do a really fun, um, rustic pumpkins. So I'm gonna get this out of the way, make sure I've got you up here. I feel like there's a device in every corner. So this is one of my favorite fall paintings. Now the original is on an 18 by 18, or roughly it's about 17.5 by 17.5, a palette board that my husband made. And if you guys want more information about that, you can just type the word info. We have a blog post all about how to do these. So that was what the original was on. Tonight I'm gonna do it on an 18 by 18 canvas. Now I will tell you, those are not just super easy, uh, to find in stores. I haven't found them in local stores, but I ordered mine from Jerry's Art-O-Rama. So if that is something that you want and you want a big canvas like this, that's where I get mine from. Um, but you can do this painting on any size canvas that you want to. So a 16 by 20, 11 by 14, or smaller square canvases if you want to stay with the square size. Hey Tammy! Hey Mary! Hello Shirley! There's so many names flying across here. So let me know who is painting with me tonight and who is just watching and kind of following along. You will have a replay after this. So if, if you can't stay for the whole thing, or you can't paint right now, you can come back and watch it whenever. We do have some exciting things to talk about with Tribe, and I'm going to talk to you guys about those while I'm getting some paint on my plate. So I am cheating a little bit tonight. For the buffalo plaid, I'm gonna just use a pre-made gray paint instead of mixing my own. If you have black and white, you can mix your own gray, or you can buy a bottle. So either way you want to do this, um, but that's just going to make it a little bit faster for me teaching you. So I'm going to go ahead and get some gray on here, and then we're going to get some black. And here's going to be my other cheat. Is I am not going to paint white for the buffalo plaid. I'm actually going to leave this just canvas. So another, another little faster way to get going with the painting. And for the background, I've got my palette knife sitting here. We're going to use these very last. Okay, if you don't have palette knives with you, That's okay. You don't have to have the metal ones. This comes in a 5-pack in my Amazon store, but you can also just use the plastic ones from any store that you want to. And here's another thing that I just taught my ladies in the fall flowers group. This is that painting right behind me here, and I've got a little surprise about that as well, um, if you missed it. Um, but if you don't have a palette knife and you don't want to go to the store to get one, You've probably got like an old gift card or play card from— for us, it's Chuck E. Cheese because we've got kids and we love going to Chuck E. Cheese. Well, back when we could. So we've got all those little cards laying around, right? So you can just cut these up and use these like a palette knife. So I'm going to show you that later. So palette knife or some kind of plastic card that you can cut up that you don't need. And then we're going to start with— dry this off really quick— a 1-inch flat brush. This is my favorite size flat brush to use. Again, you don't have to have one this large. This is sold individually. Again, I have that in my store. But if you want a more affordable way to get started with brushes, my Addie's Art Set in my Amazon store is my absolute favorite one to get started with. Because it gives you a variety of brushes and you can do most paintings with those if you want to start with that set. So this is what we're going to start with tonight. Hey everyone. Oh, this— it's not, um, are you talking about where it says the inner tribe is open? It's not covering any of the painting, so you should be fine there. And if you guys need to get rid of comments, you swipe. Okay, so you can swipe— I believe it's you swipe, uh, right. So if people's comments are getting in your way, just swipe right and they will get out of your way. What's everyone drinking tonight? Are we having coffee or wine or soda? What's your drink of choice while you're painting? I'm having a little Riesling. It's pretty tasty. Oh, Melissa's got sweet tea. That sounds good too. Coffee. Am I the only one drinking wine tonight? There's someone. Okay. So while I'm going to get a couple more paint colors on here, and I'm going to tell you about Tribe. How many of you know what my Inner Tribe is, and how many of you don't know? You can let me know if you're a complete newbie. Um, so I'm just going to give you a quick overview of it. My Inner Tribe membership is kind of like the VIP level of painting with me. So if you're new, I've got lots of videos on Facebook and YouTube where you can learn a lot from me, but this kind of takes it to the next level. Inside the Inner Tribe membership, they get 3 paintings per month with me, all originals, and they also have a guest artist or speaker every single month. So that is your monthly content. In addition to that, because our membership is over 2 years old now and we have over 75 painting tutorials to choose from, so, um, when you become a member, you have our Facebook group where our amazing community of women is. That are going to support you and love you during the whole painting process, who are like-minded and going through the same things that you're going through, learning how to paint, maybe a little bit nervous about it. That's where I teach, is in the Facebook group. And then we have an entire membership website, and you can even download an app on your phone or your iPad for the membership website, and that's where all those other videos are. So we have 2 seasons worth of holiday in there. So Halloween, fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, winter, all the fun stuff coming up. There's already tons and tons of videos for you to choose from there, plus all the new ones that I'm going to be doing with you this season. So that's kind of what you get in addition to live Q&As. Um, what am I forgetting? Uh, live Q&As, you get some bonus templates. In there. Um, we have our kind of like behind the scenes troubleshooting techniques that were really, really helpful for some of the women who went back to those to study, that help you with specific techniques. Or when my members were struggling with something where I kind of redid a video and re-showed that technique again so that they could better learn it. And all of that is in the membership hub for you that you get immediate access to. Too. So the cost of Inner Tribe— and this is the very last time it will be this price, and you will lock it in. Um, so if you sign up tonight, you will lock it in for $47 a month, and you can cancel at any time with the monthly, or you can do $470 for a year, and that is a 1-year contract. There's no cancellations throughout the year, like you're committed to a year. Um, so be sure you want to do that. But when you do the year, it's $470 and you get 2 months for free. So those are your two options, and then, um, that locks you into that price. So when we open the doors again in spring, it will be a little bit different. So as long as you stay a member, you will always pay that price and it stays at this level. Um, let me know if you guys have any questions yet. And then we have some early bird bonuses. If you are excited and you sign up tonight You will get 6, actually 7, because I decided to throw in another one last minute because we had so many people love it and excited about it that I decided to add this on. So in addition to everything that we talked about that you get if you join in the first 2 days, so if you join, or I should say 1 day, it's about 24 hours. If you join by tomorrow night at midnight, then you get these early bird bonuses, and it's the 6 paintings that were a part of my Painting of the Month Club, which is a separate membership I have, and we'll talk a little bit about that too. But these are previous paintings that were exclusive to the Painting of the Month Club that you can't get anywhere else. So they're not for sale in my store. There's nowhere else you can get them, and when they do go back up in the store, they're going to be $37 apiece, which is what I charge for my individual tutorials. And you're getting 6 of them as a bonus tonight. In addition to that, we are going to throw in this. So I did this, a 5-day lesson inside of a Facebook group that we just got done with last week, and we are going to throw that in as an added bonus because I, you guys, these, these women in this group have made the most beautiful vases of flowers ever. And I would love if you were in that challenge with me for you to leave in the comments how much fun you had in there, or like your experience, and were you surprised? I saw so many women say, I cannot believe that I painted this vase of flowers. I've always thought I could never paint before. And anyways, we just had a ton of fun in there. And so you actually get 7 bonus tutorials included when you sign up for Tribe today. Tonight. Um, Laura said, if I'd signed up a few months ago— so I'm going to click on this really quick— if I signed up a few months ago for Painting of the Month and just now signed up for Tribe, will Tribe replace the first? Yes, actually, Laura, and I'm really glad you brought that up because I forgot to mention that when I was talking about the two. If you are already a Painting of the Month Club member, when you join Tribe, it will cancel that membership and you'll start with this one. And Tribe actually includes Painting of the Month, so you get everything. Um, I'm not used to saying that because we didn't— I started Painting of the Month Club, um, when COVID hit because we had so many women that wanted to be able to paint and couldn't do the $47 a month. And we still have that as an option. So the Painting of the Month Club is $20 a month, and you get one painting per month with me. They're exclusive. There's no Facebook community with that, but you get one painting a month for $20 a month. Month. If you do Inner Tribe, that is included, so you technically get 2 memberships for the price of 1 when you do Tribe. So it's only $27 more a month for all the goods. Um, yes, Sherry, if you are a current Tribe sister, you get all the bonuses too. So those will all be— if you join tonight or tomorrow night by midnight on Tuesday, once we've closed the early bird doors, um, on Tuesday is when I will add them to your membership library. Oh, thank you, Doreen said that was the best class ever. It was so much fun, so much fun. Um, let me see if I have any other questions. Christie said, I love the Funky Fall Flowers, can't wait to show you guys after I add it. Yes, I can't wait to see it. And they've been texting me their pictures, um, and it just makes me so happy, um, to see all, all the progress that we're seeing in here. Susan said, I cannot believe that I could do this. I had more fun and actually made new friends, even found other people so supportive. Yes, the women in this group are amazing, and inside our tribe, it's even better. So I'm gonna tell you a little bit about— we call ourselves tribe sisters inside the tribe, and it is just an amazing community of supportive women who are gonna lift you up and encourage you to post your progress, post your work, post your struggles and your successes. And they're going to be there with you through it all. Just an amazing support system. And we are all about love and joy in this group. So, we have a good vibes only policy in here. No negativity, just a lot of love and joy and lifting up. Because I'm pretty sure you guys are probably going to agree with me that there's enough negative going on in the world. Why not spread some joy and happiness instead of negativity? So that is what our group is all about, um, and we just have a ton of fun in there. So right now, all I'm doing, you guys, is I just went straight into my gray, and we— I'm just going to continue to make vertical stripes. I am not trying to— I tease everyone all the time about like if you're a Type A personality. I'm not going to measure these lines. I'm not going to make them perfect. If they're a little wavy, that's okay. We're gonna eyeball it and then see, um, see what it looks like, and then we're going to turn it into buffalo plaid. So the very first thing I'm doing is just going up and down. So here is the trick. To getting this to where it looks like this. You want to make sure you have enough paint in your brush. So, um, for those of you that don't know me, I have been teaching painting for 7 years. Um, I taught local paint classes, um, for the past 7 years, and then 2 years ago we brought it online. And so now I am 100% online with my business, but As a teacher, I would walk around and the women would be struggling and saying, I don't understand why mine doesn't look like yours. And 90% of the time it was because they didn't have enough paint in their brush. So don't be afraid to really load it up so that you can make these long brushstrokes. And we, for this pattern, we are not worried about perfection or anything like that. We want it to be a little rough and rustic, right? Because this is a rustic painting. I'm not worried if it's maybe a little thinner here and thicker here. We're going to go with it because we are not striving for perfection. And you will hear me say that a lot. The more you paint with me, I don't want you to try to be perfect. I want you to leave that at the door, all that Type A perfectionism, trying to hold yourself to such a higher standard. I want you to just have fun. I want you to come in here and paint and have fun and, you know, learn the techniques along the way. So embrace— in the fall challenge, in that fall flowers, I constantly said embrace the messiness because that is a messy, fun painting, and it is the opposite of perfection. So I constantly had to tell the women You'll hear me say it all the time, but just trust the process. Paintings take layers and they take stages. And when you are worried about like a mistake or something, I want you to try to just let it go and know that it's going to be okay. Because here's the thing with— I'm going to grab some more gray— with acrylic painting. Anything you do on your canvas, you can come back and you can fix it. There are no mistakes that you can make that warrant you tossing that and throwing it in the trash. The thing I love about acrylic paint is once you let it dry, you can paint over anything, okay? Over an entire painted canvas, you can repaint it into something new. So if you— this is, you know, one of my big tips. I told you, make sure you have enough paint in your brush. My other one is if you do something you don't like or you make a mistake, let it dry. Let it dry, let it dry, let it dry. If you try to fix it while it's wet, it's going to make a big old mess. But if you let it dry and then come back and paint over it, you're never even going to know that it was there. Let me check these comments real quick. I wish they'd be scrolling down with me. Rhonda, you will get all the bonuses if you already signed up last week. All of that is included for you. Um, someone was asking, it's $47 a month or $470 for the year. And the early bird bonus, when you go to click that link, all those paintings are going to be there so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. But you're going to get actually 7 bonus paintings. You're going to get the 6 bonus tutorials that are pictured on the website, and you're also going to get this Fall Flowers Challenge that we just completed. That's going to be my extra gift to anyone who joins with the early bird. Oh, hey, Elizabeth! Elizabeth's going to be on with me later this week too. She said, I've loved the last 8 months of being a Tribe sister. I can't believe how much I've learned from you, including making palettes and frames. The friendships I have made surely brighten my day. That is awesome, and her stuff is awesome too. She posted the cutest truck painting she did the other day. From our last fall collection and made this really beautiful frame, and it just set the whole painting off. Now, I'm especially not worried— see how wavy I did that? I don't even care because it's going to be covered up with a pumpkin. And that was going to be the other thing I was going to tell you. Sometimes the mistakes that you make and you're worried about them right then at this stage of the painting You're not even going to know that those are there. So try not to get fixated on things like that. Just try to keep moving along, because chances are that mistake that's really, really bothering you right now, when you start progressing through the painting, you're not even going to notice that you did that. Okay, so we got our vertical stripes down. Donna said, are you doing this up and down or sideways? Um, yeah, this is, uh, we're doing vertical strips and then I'm gonna, I'm gonna do horizontal ones. Oh, hey Jean, welcome back! She said she just joined Tribe again, she missed it so much. If, um, if you guys, if you haven't already, um, at the top it'll ask you to allow StreamYard to post your name for you. Um, some of you it just says Facebook user and I can't see who you are, so if you want me to see your name be sure to click that permissions button, and then it will bring you right back here again. So you won't— all I'm going to be doing is just painting some horizontal strips, so you're not, you're not going to miss much. So we're just going to go back over this. You're going to see naturally that it's going to be a little bit darker where we overlap that gray, but we're going to bring it out even more by adding black to it, and I'm going to show you that here in a little bit. I didn't mean to put that on there. Welcome, Chrissy. Um, Angie, no, the bonus tutorials, um, will be put in your membership hub. So this is one of my favorite things that we added to the membership this, um, this year actually. We added it, um, in March when we opened the doors last time. We moved everything over to Kajabi, which is who hosts our membership site. And it's amazing because you can log in and everything is there for you. I actually can probably show you a behind the scenes for that. Um, give me just a second here. I'll give you a little sneak peek. I can go I'm gonna see if it'll let me— we're gonna try this. I'm gonna see if it'll let me share the screen. Okay, let's see if it lets me— okay, good, you can see that, right? While I'm over here I'm looking at— I'm just going to give this a second. Rhonda said, I don't have gray, can I use black acrylic paint? So Rhonda, you will just actually just add a little bit of white to your black and then you can make your own gray. Can you guys see this okay? I just want to make sure before I I go on. Hey Susan. So this is what the membership login looks like, and then I'm just gonna click sign in here. And right here This is the Inner Tribe. So this is everything inside your membership vault. And then all those bonuses that I told you you were going to get, they're going to be underneath it like this. So it'll say Paradise Beach, the truck with sunflowers. Those are just two of them. But we're going to go— I want to show you a little sneak peek inside. So when you go into the Inner Tribe, you're going to have a welcome video from me. But here's where all the goodness is. This vault. When you become a Tribe Sister, you are going to get access to all of these videos immediately, and all you have to do is log in and they're all there for you. So you can see some of the farm animals that we've done. We had a bird series, so I did a flamingo and peacock and abstract birds. I love flowers, so there's a lot of flowers in here. All kinds of landscapes, some mixed media. I teach you guys different, different things inside of here. So it's not just one style of acrylic painting. We do acrylic like I'm doing with you tonight. We do some palette knife. We do mixed media, which all that means is like using scrapbook paper and pen and ink and stencils and all kinds of fun stuff to add to your artwork. We've got all these fun holiday paintings. So that kind of gives you— look at all those fall ones, winter— that kind of gives you a sneak peek inside of there. Um, so I just wanted to show you that so you could kind of see how awesome it is, um, behind the scenes too. Okay, then we're just going to keep on going here. If I missed your question, I've got Allison on here. She's part of my team. She's helping answer some questions for me. But if I miss them and Allison doesn't get to them, just repost again. And just be patient with me because it's hard to keep up with painting and talking and reading your comments all at the same time. Um, there is a mason jar of cotton. Yes, cotton stems in a mason jar is inside the inner tribe membership too. That is totally fine. You guys are saying if your, your lines are too solid. I want to show you my original and the difference between the way these look right now. My gray, it was a different color of gray in my original. And it was a lot more solid. That's totally fine. That's not going— that's not going to matter. I think it kind of just honestly adds to the rusticness of it. Karen, yes, if you wanted to paint the whole canvas white first, you most definitely could. I didn't want to mess with it, one, for the time's sake of having to let that dry while I'm painting live with you guys. Um, but it's not necessary. And if you want it to have, you know, canvas versus painted canvas is going to have a little bit different finish. So if you want it to all look the same, you can seal it and then it's all going to have the same finish. I think I don't need to even fill this in here. We are going to— I'm going to go ahead and fill down here on my edges. This part's not going to show, right? Because we're going to have pumpkins over it. So let's just do that. Okay, and then I'm just gonna wipe off. You can rinse if you want to. I'm just going to wipe off my brush and then we're going to go into black. Um, someone was asking, do I add water to thick body acrylic? No, I would not. I would just, um, leave it as it is. So here's where we turn it into buffalo plaid. Now I'm not getting as much paint on there because I'm not trying to do a huge section, right? Um, we're just gonna go right where everything intersects. There's all these little squares. We're going to go back over those little squares and see how I'm just gently kind of pulling it. And again, these lines don't have to match up perfect. If it still pulls in a little bit of gray because your gray's still wet there, that's fine. Can you guys see that? I don't want the light to glare on it. I'm over here trying to use a touchscreen on my laptop and that's not working. I'm like, why is it not going down? Because it's not an iPad. I'm so used to being on my iPad. Um, Adrian, that's a good question. I'm glad you asked that. I'm going to pull that question up on the screen. Um, she's asking, um, you guys, I just stuck that— this is why I can't talk and read and do all the things at the same time. I stuck it in gray instead of black. You have permission to use my art, my paintings, the rights to my art in local paint classes only. So you cannot use them for Zoom parties. We do have lessons inside the group. This is something new that I just recently started with those of you in mind who have your own paint party businesses and you are doing it online. Where I teach you. It's called a Learn the Process series, and I walk you behind the scenes of how I come up with my inspiration, how I take inspiration to idea to sketch, and then how I bring it to life in a painting. And we've already done 3 so far, and by me teaching you that process, it's going to allow you to make your own original art, and it can be the same theme as mine. But I'm teaching you how to not just copy, but like make it your own. So you can't teach any Social Easel designs online. You can't do online paint kits or anything like that. My membership is really meant for those of you not just to come in and, you know, use for the paintings. Again, you can if you're doing local paint, paint nights. But what I really want to do is help you guys become better artists. And then that's only gonna help your paint party business that much more. So that's my, that's my main focus in the group. And then, um, another question that a lot of people ask is, well, what does that mean? Like, can I sell my finished pieces? Um, absolutely. I want you to. And there's a lot of women in our group who, you know, the budget was tight and they were worried they couldn't afford it. And they ended up selling their paintings to pay for their membership. So it's a win-win. You're learning how to become a better artist, people are buying your work, and it's paying for your membership so you can keep on learning and keep on making money. So you can sell them on Etsy, you can do them at craft shows if there are— all of our craft shows got canceled— but, um, you could do them like in a craft booth if there was like one that's just, you know, up all the time. So those are, um, the things you can do with the rights to the paintings inside Tribe. So what do you guys think so far of the Buffalo Plaid? Is that easy enough? Not too hard, right? So all we did is, um, On my screen, the whole painting is on there. Are you guys missing part of it? It looks like the whole thing is on there for me. Um, so all I did was vertical gray stripes, horizontal gray stripes, and now where they meet, we're just going back and adding black in. And I'm not— again, I'm not worrying about these being perfect. What do you guys think so far? Are you having fun? Who's painting with me? Oh, someone said they sold— hold on, let me go back— sold their Funky Flowers painting the day she finished it. Oh, that's so awesome! We had a lot of women in that group say the same thing. They posted them on their Facebook page to share what they had done and people were already asking to buy them. So how cool is that? That's a great way to start. Hard to see when you do the right side as it's right along the edge. Yeah, you're seeing everything. All I'm doing, Rhonda, is just adding the black on there, so you're not missing any. It's the exact same thing I'm doing all the way across. The canvas. Awesome, April's painting. Rhonda, I don't know, I think several sold for different prices. I don't know what everyone decided on. Julia, that is a question a lot of people have. There's really— she asked, how do you determine the price to sell your artwork? There is not a simple answer to that. I tell people to think about the time that you put into it, to think about the supplies that you used. Um, the size of the canvas, the cost of the canvas. Did you do it on canvas? Did you do it on board? Like, what are you painting on? So there's just so many variables to it that it's just not an easy, straightforward answer. Good, Colleen, I'm glad you're painting along. Dehan said, my anxiety is starting to take over with the wavy lines. Don't let it Don't let it. Just have fun and know that once we get the pumpkins on there, you're not even going to notice that. And we don't want it to be perfect. So I try really hard in the membership to encourage the women. Again, I want a joyful, happy place in our group, right? Um, it's all about positivity and I want all of you— we talked about this a lot in the fall challenge, and they ended up getting devotionals almost every day with me. Um, and I do want to be very upfront about that. Um, I will be sharing my faith a lot. I wouldn't be where I was without God, and I give him all the glory for everything that he's blessed me with, and blessed me with being able to be here with you guys and paint with you. Um, So I'm going to talk about them. And, and part of what I talked about inside the Fall Challenge is for us to start viewing ourselves as God sees us, because we are so critical, right? It's very easy for us to be critical of ourselves and say it doesn't look good, or say so-and-so did it better. Um, but that's not how he sees us. And I want you to start seeing yourself through his eyes instead of your own. And I want you to see the joy that painting can bring you. And we had some women dealing with the same thing, dealing with anxiety and worrying about it being perfect or feeling like they were on a timeline. And it's not. You're never on a timeline. Even though I teach 3 paintings a month in the group, very few women in that group keep up with 3 paintings. A month. I mean, now some do more, but some do far less. There's no schedule, there's no certain time you have to have anything done by. Um, I just want you to get used to creating and just learning to kind of have fun learning the process. You're not going to get it perfect right away. It takes practice. The more you practice, the better you're going to get. Um, so just kind of embrace that. Embrace the messiness, embrace the mistakes, because every time you make a mistake, you're learning something. You can't learn without making mistakes. I mean, you can, but it's a lot easier. We tend to have those lessons drilled into us a little bit easier when we do make mistakes, right? Um, I'm just trying to make sure I'm not missing Any questions here? And, um, someone said they do have trouble with self-worth too, and I understand 100%. And there are so many women just like you who struggle with the same thing, and Tribe has helped them so much because people come for the painting, people come to learn how to paint and they end up staying because this community of women is absolutely amazing. And you are going to be so loved on and lifted up and encouraged, and you're going to be told truth. Because a lot of times we feed ourselves lies and we believe what Satan's telling us. And guess what? The fear, the anxiety, none of that is of God. That's of the devil. God is not about fear, and fear is a liar. And we're going to go into this more tomorrow, um, in tomorrow at 11 if you want to come back and join me. We're going to go into a little bit more of a devotional, and I am going to have some of my new tribe sisters join me who just got started or have maybe only been with me for 2 or 3 months, and they are going to join me to talk to you guys about what TRIBE has done for them. And they were in the exact same position as some of you were who were scared. And like, maybe you've always wanted to know how to paint, but you were scared to get started. You're scared you're going to mess it up. Scared it's not going to be perfect, right? It's not about that. But they're going to share their journeys and their stories with you and how they've been able to overcome that. And one of my favorite sayings is action stops fear. So the longer we let something dwell in our head, the longer we worry about it— we're not supposed to be worrying, we need to give that to God and then follow him, right? But the second we stop worrying and we stop being fearful of it and we just do it, Satan loses his power because that fear is make-believe. That fear is all up here and it's not real. And the second— and so many women, I asked women in the group the other day, I said, make a post. I want you guys to post for all the new women coming in this group. What is the number one piece of advice you would give them when they, when they join, when they start painting in general? What's your best piece of advice? Hands down, the number one thing they said was just do it. Like, I waited a few weeks or I waited a month and I would watch the videos, but I wouldn't paint. Just get in there and do it. And when you do, like, everything changes. So I would just encourage you to step past that fear and just jump into action and start doing it. And don't be hard on yourself. This is supposed to be enjoyable. This is therapeutic for me. When I start painting, I stop thinking about everything that's going on in the world. And I have dealt with anxiety and depression. My entire life, and art has been a huge, a huge part. I've always been an artist, and when I paint, I'm able to escape. And right now, yeah, I don't want to think about everything going on out there, right? I can't be the only one. Um, so it's nice to be able to have something that you can pour yourself into that's bettering yourself. You're doing something for you. But it's also easing that anxiety and easing that depression, and it's allowing you to focus on the thing in front of you instead of thinking about the things going on in the outside world, right? So that's my little spiel. We'll get back to painting pumpkins now. So, okay, I left all this. I didn't go in and do the black or anything there, right? I've got white on my brush, and yes, I'm just gonna lay that there. It's okay. We're gonna put the shapes of the pumpkins on there now. So I'm gonna do white first, and there's two reasons. One, to help, um, cover the gray and the black that we have there, but also because orange tends to be a very transparent color, so we kind of want a base coat there. So you can decide how far you want your pumpkins to go. I would make sure they stagger, so you don't want them to be like the same size. I'm just going to start here and we're going to start like the letter C. And again, if you don't like your first go at this, you can change your shape. I think I'm going to go about like that, leave a little bit of edging over here. Then I'm just going to do a backwards C to kind of finish that. I don't even have to take this all the way down. Because we're going to come in. So I'm just spreading out. None of this matters, right? Okay, all this is just base coat. Trust the process. It's messy. It's messy in the beginning. Um, Denise, this is an 18 by 18. You can use any size you want though. Um, Anthony said your plaid is too wet. Mine is still wet in a few areas. It won't matter because this is— we're going to put palette knife over top of it and it's going have a really thick texture. So, um, these colors that are blending underneath, it's just going to add some depth to your pumpkin. See how that's pulling in a little bit of my black and gray there? That's completely fine. So I got 2 pumpkins here. I got a baby one and a big one. All right, then I'm just gonna really— look how much paint I have in there— I'm gonna really load it up and fill it in. So just kind of repeat the process, do the whole thing. Now, as you're painting, this is another tip with acrylic painting. You hear me say it a lot, let it dry, but this is for a different reason. Let it dry if you make a mistake, but let it dry in between layers. So I'm going to do one quick coat here, and if I can still see some plaid through there, I'm not going to worry about it because I know it's going to get covered up. What I don't want you to do is see that and think, oh, I have to keep adding paint, I have to keep adding paint more and more and more. It's going to get thick and gloppy and it's going to be a mess to work with. So when you're working with acrylic, you just want to put one thin coat on. And then let it dry. Now I'm purposely going to come down here and grab a little gray so I don't lose this shape of my little pumpkin. And you don't see the bottom of my pumpkins, they go off the edge. June said hers is totally gray. Okay, June, if it is, that's fine, let it dry. Kind of like just what I was talking about, don't go back and add more white to it to try to lighten it up. I recommend if you have an extra blow dryer to keep one with you wherever you paint, because you can kind of speed your process up by blow drying in between layers if you're, you know, not patient enough to wait for it to dry, or you don't want to wait for it to dry and you're just ready to keep going. Um, you can have a blow dryer, and a lot of times I do that when I'm teaching. Okay, how's that looking? Like two blobs, right? It'll all come together. Here, let me take the banner off. I think it's just cutting off that, that little edge there. All right, that's good. You can see the whole side there. Um, Angie, no, the Inner Tribe only opens 2 times a year, so I only open in the fall, and then we're not going to open again until late spring, and it will be at a different price point. So this is the very last time you can join and lock in the current rate of $47 a month. And we close on— I think Allison just posted it— but we close on Thursday, October 1st. Um, if you join tonight or tomorrow by midnight, then you also get all the early bird specials that are going to be in that link when you click that. So I know— I don't think I can take— let me see if I can take the social easel off this. I don't know if I can. That's better. Um, someone said, did you say to identify your— if you click the link, um, in the post at the top, it will allow you to give StreamYard permission to show your name. So you guys are not missing anything here, okay? I know there's like— all that's covering is just a little bit of the pumpkin. I'm going to be doing the same thing there that I'm doing everywhere else. I think I can move it up just a little and you guys can still see everything. But see how you can still see my buffalo plaid through there? Awesome, Phyllis, welcome! Yeah, let me know if you guys signed up, let me know so I can welcome you. And you guys can do hashtag Tribe Sister if you're a new Tribe Sister. I want you to put hashtag Tribe Sister in the comments. All right, that better? Okay. So now we're just going to jump in to the orange. I want— I'm going to go ahead and do this while it's a little bit wet. Any orange you want to. This one, I think, is Orange Spice. I got this one at Michaels. Um, but I will tell you right now, I do provide color lists inside, but because of COVID and everything going on, I can't promise you you're gonna find the same brand that I had, or that they even make it anymore. So don't get fixated on the colors. This is a huge lesson that I talk about in there, and I teach you guys color mixing. Um, I share it a lot. So if you don't have orange at home, you can make all kinds of variations of orange with red and yellow. You don't need every single color under the rainbow. See how already that's starting to look a little prettier, and it— that orange is blending with the white a little bit. Welcome, welcome, welcome, Miranda and Sheila, Allison, April, Julie, Kathy. You guys are flying across the screen. We're so excited to have you guys. And we have inside the group, there's some extra special ladies We have our community manager Megan, who's going to be in there cheering you on alongside of me, um, keeping things organized in there, making sure everyone's doing okay. And then we have some ladies that I call our tribe sister mentors in the group, and they are going to be there to help you navigate. Because here's the thing, anytime you come into something new, right, it's a little scary. You don't know where everything is and you don't know what to do. That's what the mentors are for. They have been with me, most of them over a year, and they know the inner tribe as well as I know the inner tribe. And they are there to help you every step of the way, to encourage you, and again, make you feel safe, invited, welcome. Um, that is our goal. I want you to come into this group and feel like you found a family. And there have been so many amazing friendships that have come out of this. In the middle of like this craziness going on in the world. We can't all be together in real life right now. You know, I wanted to plan this huge get-together this year with all my tribe sisters and I can't do it, but we can be together online and it's just such a fun place for us to build some friendships with women who are just like you, learning the same things you're learning, going through the same things you are. And I've just heard so many awesome, awesome stories from these ladies over the last few months, just about the friendships that they've had in here and that they're building and how much they mean to them. And it just makes my heart so happy because that is my goal. I want to bring you guys joy and happiness, and I want to teach you how to paint. So that is kind of, kind of the whole thing about the Inner Tribe. That is from mine. I was getting ready to say something else. What was I going to say? So for this next pumpkin, I'm just going to change the color a little bit. Doesn't mean it'll stay this way. Just remember, trust the process. We're just putting some base coats down. I've got a brighter orange. Isn't that pretty? So again, the trick to getting this to blend the way that I am— see how easily that's moving across my canvas— is because I have a lot of paint in my brush. And all that Buffalo Plaid we were worried about showing through isn't showing through anymore. You may see it in a couple areas, but it's not going to matter once we add the palette knife on there. Thank you, Jani. Yeah, sometimes the devotionals, they just come from my heart, and a lot of times from the devotional I read that morning. And if it's put on my heart and God puts it on my heart to share it with you, then I do. And I ended up doing that 2 days, maybe even 3, of the Fall Flowers Challenge. Um, and listen, I had some people who didn't like that. And they didn't want me to talk about it. And that's why I want to be very upfront with you guys. I'm going to talk about it. It is a part of who I am. You can't take it out of me and you can't take it out of my business. So I want you to know that going into it. It's part of my teaching style. I talk to you guys while I'm painting. It's not just strictly a paint lesson. Like when we get together and we paint every week, it's a conversation. I'm talking to you guys the whole time I'm in there painting with you. Um, and you guys are becoming some of my best friends. I talk to you every single week, and you're gonna know what's going on in our life, and you're gonna, you know, know what my devotional is if it, you know, really hit home with me that day. So that is a part of who I am and who Tribe is. And, um, I just want to be very upfront about that, and I'm not going to back down from it. And I literally had more than 5 messages of people telling me to stop talking about it. And that I shouldn't do that and that I should just stick with painting. And guess what? It's my own business and I can make it exactly what I want it to be. And I wouldn't have this business if it wasn't for God, so I'm going to bless it and glorify him the entire time. And if that's not a right fit for them, that's fine. There's tons of other people you guys can learn painting from. So if I'm not your cup of tea, that's okay that I'm not your cup of tea. I mean, some of, some of these messages were just really not nice, and they stung and they hurt. But I know at the end of the day, they're not my people, and I don't need that kind of negativity in my life. So if that's the way they feel, it's all right. They can, they can learn. They can learn from somebody else other than me, right? Okay, I'm thinking about what I want to do here. Instead of— I'm just going to show you guys this— I could use burnt umber, which is just a dark brown. Oh, actually, I am going to. I have it over here. I forgot to grab it a second ago. That's right, Tony. Tony said they can go somewhere else. They can. Thank you so much, June. All right, I got a little burnt umber here. I'm just going to show you my plate, nice and messy, right? That's how I do. And I'm going to just grab a round brush. Okay, so this is just like a number 2. It doesn't have to be a certain size. This is just the one that I grabbed, and we're gonna add our little stems up here. And you can make these Whatever you want, whatever shape you want them to be. Maybe you want yours to be curlier instead of fat. I don't know. You can have it go down into the pumpkin, or you can have it sitting on top. Let's see, have this one come up. I like to make them go different ways. And again, when you were doing this at home right now, or when you start, don't worry about what it looks like right now, okay? So I'm gonna try to lift this up and show you guys. It's all still pretty transparent and see-through, like though there's not a lot of anything special about those stems right now. We're just getting a base coat down, and then we're going to come back in with a little black in that brown, just kind of add it in. We'll probably come back and change that a little bit later too. Thank you, Rhonda. You guys are so awesome. And you know what, I need you as much as you guys say you need me, because when those kind of texts and messages come through, I have to go back to the ones from you guys and know that I'm helping you and that I'm doing the right thing. And so I am equally thankful for you for supporting me when other people attack. Yes, my favorite devotional is Jesus Calling. That's awesome. I'm glad that you learned about it. There's just something about that devotional that just always seems, seems to be what I need to hear. And then of course, you know, because I think God just works in these ways, right? When he's trying to really drill something home with us, he makes his point And today's church service just went right along with everything that I was going through. And our pastor was talking about how to not be scared standing in your faith. And when something comes at you and they're telling you to change it or to quiet it, we are supposed to speak boldly. We are supposed to be bold about our faith and share our faith and share God's love with everyone around us. And share his joy to this world. That is what we are called to do. And I was letting these people get in my head. I mean, they weren't going to bring me down, but they brought me down momentarily. And I just loved that he used today's church service to remind me I am who he says I am. And he is in control. He is in control of all of this, and he will fight my battles for me. I don't need to fight them. So I hope that encourages you too to not— don't be scared to speak out. I used to be so scared. I used to cry every time I'd pray. Like, the thought of praying in front of someone just gave me like a panic attack. And I will say that's one of the good things. The older you get, the more secure you become in who you are, and um, who he sees you as, and relying on his truths make us stronger. Um, so yep, that's my little share on that. So I've got, um, black and a little bit of brown here, and I'm just going to very lightly— so when I say lightly, I'm not pushing down hard— very lightly going around the edges here. It's okay if it gets a little heavier some places. Again, this is just to kind of get things going because we're going to go over this with a palette knife. Now, if you don't want to do palette knife, you don't have to. You can just do paintbrush and it's still going to be a really pretty painting. Don't you love the way it's starting to come together? Thank you so much, Marie. Uh, Sandy, thank you. And yes, you can go back and watch these videos if you missed the beginning. As soon as I get done here, the replay will be available. This is a number 2, but I talk about this a lot too, you guys. I don't get too stuck on the numbers of brushes and things because I can hold up a number 2 in this brand and then go get a number 4 in another brand and they're like the same size. So as long as it's holding enough paint for you, then it's— then it'll work. Yes, I think, Lori, I may have just answered your question too. So yes, you can go back, you can go back and watch. So we did our outlines, and then we kind of want to do the inside grooves of the pumpkin. Now I only had, uh, 2 in the original. I may want to add another one, I don't know. So we're going to start at this point, and we're just going to kind of come down, kind of keeping like I'm mimicking that curve. I'm doing the same type of curve here and the same there. And it looks like a basketball right now, but that's fine. It's not going to look like a basketball at the end. Thank you, Sarah. Love you. She said, be you and the world will adjust. They will. Or they'll go away, right? But I'm fortunate enough to have my girlfriends like Sarah too. If you guys have followed me for a while, you guys know I have my little creative group of girlfriends, and of course they were the first ones that I text, um, when I got that because that's part of us being in this world, in this online space, doing this business that we're doing, we're gonna get criticized. Um, people are gonna not be so nice sometimes, and you've, you gotta have those people on your side who are there to support you and lift you up. It's so, so important. I talk about all the time, you are who you surround yourself with. If you don't have that in your life right now, um, I encourage you to find it. And I, I know that being a part of this group will help you find that too. I'm really hating this curve. So this is a good lesson for you. This happens all the time. I don't like something, you're gonna see me change it. So maybe I'll change this whole curve here. What I'm doing right now, by the way, I recommend that you guys, when you're painting, to take pictures. I tell people this all— take pictures of your progress along the way. Because you see things in a different light. Like me looking straight at it, straight down, versus me looking at it in the camera and seeing what you guys see. It helps me see things differently. So you don't have that because you're not, you know, doing it on video. So I recommend stepping away from your painting and taking pictures along the way. But I think I like this curve better. And so, like, I know that looks like a hot mess, right? But we're not gonna worry about it. I'm gonna go ahead and grab some of this paint with the palette knife. Okay, so when I'm doing a palette knife, I'm scooping it up like this, and I want you to think about it like spreading icing on a cake. And again, I'm not worried if a little bit of black's showing through. I'm doing this for my sake so I can see if I like where I've got that curve. And if I don't, I'll just paint over it. See, I don't, I don't like it. It's okay, we'll just start again. Now there's two ways I could handle this. I could do what I'm doing right now Or I could let it dry and come back to it. Because we're doing palette knife, it gives me a little bit more freedom because you can be so messy with it and the layers are a little thicker. Hey, so I don't see your name. Um, who said I missed the beginning? Love the split screen. Yeah, so this is, um, this is how I'm going to teach all week. Um, and if you guys are in Tribe and you like it this way, we can do it this way in Tribe too. Um, I know some women really like to have the really close-up view, but I feel like your view is still pretty dang good of getting to see what I'm doing. But this is how we're gonna do it the rest of this week. So if you're just joining tonight, um, let me just tell you what we're doing for the rest of the week. So I only open Tribe, like I said, 2 times a year, and we only open it for a few days. During that few days, you're gonna see me live a lot. I'm gonna go live twice a day for the next 4 days, and in the morning will be a different session than the evening. And you guys are welcome to come back every day and paint with me. We have such a fun week ahead of us. We are gonna do, we're gonna do an owl painting, but I'm gonna take the same owl image and I'm going to show you 4 different styles of painting you can do with it, depending on the level you're at. And we're going to kind of talk about the different levels inside my tribe. So there's the excited newbie who's brand new, never painted before, and we have budding artists who's maybe painted for 3 to 6 months, whether with me or on their own or at paint classes, and they've kind of got some basics down. We have a polished painter who's been painting for over a year. They're like perfecting their shading and color mixing and all the things. And then we have our creative genius. That's what I named that last level. And the creative genius, it doesn't have to be for business. You don't have to do this for business at all. This is just to help you learn to paint. But we have a mix of women in the group, all these different levels that I've talked about. That last level is actually kind of split in two because we have women who want to turn it into a business. And then we have women who are just amazing artists and they continue to just grow in their art and they do it for a hobby and they do it because it's therapy. They do it because they love it. So it doesn't matter where you are in your journey of painting. We have women at all levels. And we're going to talk about all those levels this week. And so tomorrow evening, I think I have to do it at 4 tomorrow because of the girls' volleyball games, we're going to paint a very, very basic owl. And then the next night we're going to add a background and some shading to it. The next night we're going to do, um, I always keep— I keep forgetting what did I have planned for the third night. And last night is a mixed media version. It'll come to me. Oh, palette knife. We're gonna do a palette knife version. So, um, if you want to see all the different ways to take one design and do it at all different levels, that's what we're going to do the rest of this week. And again, you can catch all these on replay, but the doors do close on Thursday. That'll be your very last day to join. Okay, so let me get back to what I'm doing here in the painting. I was just Loading up my palette knife, scraping it on here. I didn't like where my black lines were, and I actually really like it now. I took in a little bit of white and scraped that in. And this is what I love about palette knife is because you never really know what it's going to do until you put it on your canvas. And I love that surprise, and I love the look of it. You just can't get this look with anything else. So I'm going to get a little bit more of my oranges because I'm going to do the same thing over here. And then I'll come back and add those black lines in. But right now, I like the way it is. Yes, Florence, it just opened tonight. It doesn't close until Thursday night. If you join tonight or tomorrow night by midnight, then you also get 7 bonus painting tutorials that will be uploaded in your membership hub on Tuesday after we close the early bird special. So that is your best deal. Is to sign up by tomorrow night at midnight and get all those bonuses. I think it's over $250 worth of painting tutorials that you get as for free for joining. Yes, Tracy said, is there something you can use if you don't have a palette knife? I think I threw it under here. Cut up like a gift card or something. Now, normally I would actually cut it smaller than this, kind of like the strip about the size of my finger, just because it makes it easier to use, but I can load this up and you still get that scrapey texture. So if you don't have a palette knife, that's a cheat. Or you could get like a plastic knife from your kitchen or something like that. Palette knives are easier because they are flat on the bottom, so it makes it easier to do the strokes with that. Yes, Florence, you can sign back up. Yeah. So I'm just going to load up my orange again. But you guys see how much this is changing once we start putting that on. Would you ever know that there was all that checkered pattern behind there? I think not. See, I'm being real drippy with it. It's messy. Now you can, if you want— this is using just regular craft paint. You can get thicker-bodied paint like this. This is like artist grade. It's really thick. This is excellent to use with palette knife painting, or sometimes they don't have the colors you like in this. And you just really, really like a certain color, you can add gel medium to any craft paint and it makes it thick just like that. So if you feel like your paints are too runny or too watery, you can get gel medium and it comes in different finishes. You can get gloss or matte. It doesn't matter. It's just that that's just a preference thing. And then it makes your paint thicker for you. Lynn, this week all of that that I talked about with the owl and all the lessons, that is all gonna be on this page just like today. So it's all gonna be on the Social Easels main public page. It's open for everyone. So it's your chance to kind of paint with me, see if you like the style, see see if you think, you know, Tribe would be something that would be good for you. We have so many women right now who are stuck at home and they always wanted to know how to paint, and this ended up being the perfect time for them. And then— and they had the time to pick up a hobby and learn how to do it. I— Dawn said, do you usually paint with gloss or matte? I usually do matte. I just let— I like, I don't know, I like the look of matte finish. So if you like the way it's coming along, if you like the way the palette knife is looking, shoot me up some hearts. Let me know. I just think it totally changes it. And I'm not even worried about going over this line here because I can pull this back over top. Let's pull in a little bit of white up here. We're going to be adding in all kinds of crazy colors. This is just the beginning. I like a lot of color in my paintings. How I'm holding that palette knife, so I'm just holding it like this, and you just want that— that you're not, you're not putting the point on there, okay? And if a bunch of paint gets on the top side, that's not benefiting you. So just scrape it off on your plate and you get it back on the bottom like this. I'm going to pull some white over here. So you want it on the bottom of your knife, and I just kind of hold it like this. So hopefully that helps. Then I'm just going to grab a little bit of black here. Let's pull this back over top. See, I like— now I'm using, holding it the same way, but I'm using just more of the tip because I want this skinny little line here on the edge, and I want it scrapey. I don't want it all perfect. Okay, can you guys see that? Sorry. So nothing perfect about palette knife painting, that's for sure. Thank you, Kay. So we just kind of want to rough up those edges, and again You get too much black on here and you're like, oh, I don't like it at all. Don't worry about it. Let it dry. You can come back to it. Now let's try this again with my lines here. I think we'll leave it like that for now, but I think I like that better. And then once I add in some more of the colors, again, the— it's these little things that are not going to matter later on once I start adding all the other details on here. This stuff's gonna start kind of fading away, what's bothering me right now. What, um, someone's saying— Joyce, I think your comment got cut up. Kind of weird. So see your palette part, it's like a split screen. I'm not understanding. June said, I'm struggling on wood and a palette knife scraping up the other paint. Now it will— I mean, it will scrape up the other paint. I actually like the way that it looks on wood because it does that. You may want to get a little bit more paint on your palette knife, and you may want to lighten up with your pressure, and I'm going to show you that next because even though this is all still wet, I'm going to be able to add in some other colors here without mixing them in with my oranges. Thank you so much, Patty. Okay, so what color do I want next? Let's add some like a wine color in this one. Is plum. I also have like burgundy wine. You could use both. We're going to start with— I'm going to see if I like the plum first. Yay, welcome back, Florence! So glad you're back in. Let me grab some of this, and I'm just going to start scraping real, real light. Okay, look how I'm holding this, just kind of lightly dragging it over. Again, if you don't like it to be this wet while you're doing that, you can blow dry it before doing this part. Okay, don't feel like you have to— number one, don't ever feel like you have to paint at my speed because all the videos that I teach are all available for replay. You can go back and view them whenever you want to. You can pause them, you can stop them, you can rewind them. Okay, so I added that plum in. I think I do want some more of this like cherry— what did I say it was called? Burgundy wine. Um, Eleanor, it's called a palette knife. Um, it's— you guys are asking for advice on the wood. It's very— I mean, to me, it's not much different than doing it on canvas. So you're going to pick up a little bit more texture, but that's what I think adds to it. So I'm going to show you guys this, these two different colors. So this is that like burgundy wine. So I could put it right on here like that, or I could mix these colors because I love color mixing and make an entire, entirely new color that I want to add in the painting. So don't be afraid to play with your colors and mix them and see what you come up with. I'm just kind of bouncing around. I don't have an exact plan for where I want all these colors yet. If you want to seal it, you're just looking for an acrylic sealer, and you can pick your finish. So you can do gloss, matte, whatever, satin. They're all different finishes, so any of those are fine. I'm going to grab a little bit of brown. Like, look at all these colors on the back. Let's scrape some of that up here into our stem. So I like messy colors. I don't want any part of the painting to just be one note, one color. I have a little black, I have a little brown, just kind of moving it around in there. I could even pull in some of that purple if I wanted. There's no right or wrong. Okay, I'm gonna wipe this off. We're gonna start— I made my palette so messy, I may have to get another palette. We'll grab this one. This is already dry. I'm just using this one from the other day. Shaking up my pink. This is like a baby pink. This one's called Cotton Candy. I love this color of pink. Ooh, that almost shot everywhere. Did you guys see that? It was almost a mess. Some Bahama Blue, a little bit of Sage Green. And this is like a hunter green, dark Hauser green, hunter green, any of those. Yes, Catherine, I am gonna finish it tonight. We actually don't have that— I know it still looks like completely unfinished, but you'll see how it starts to come together pretty quick. Is that all my colors? Oh, we can't forget my favorite. So there's two things I love: teal and gold. I love metallic gold. This is— and I know y'all can't find it everywhere, so don't worry about the brand. I'm going to tell you what it is though. It's DecoArt Extreme Sheen 24-karat gold. If they don't have this in your store, you can go to Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart, any of those places. Any metallic gold in any brand— FolkArt, Craft Smart, Apple Barrel, whatever brand it is, it doesn't matter. Any metallic gold is good. This just happens to be my favorite. Hey Cookie, welcome! Yeah, you can jump over to the link anytime and then come back to the live, or you can just paint with me a while and then go check it out at the end. I'm glad you are having fun, Zane. Okay, we're gonna start with our Cotton Candy Pink and add a little up here. Now we're doing all our pumpkin first, and then I'm going to come back in and add those little like rosettes down below. And you don't want to have the same amount in every— see how I'm kind of like sticking with the sections of the pumpkins? You don't want to have the same amount everywhere. We want variation, we want things to be different as we're going along. I'm going to lift this up again just so you guys can see this texture up close. What that looks like. You guys see that? Okay, super, super messy. Um, Karen, I don't have captions on my screen, so that may be a setting that you have. Awesome, Jen, glad you guys joined in. Is anyone else painting with some friends tonight or family? We have a lot of women who do like You know, paint nights with their friends over Zoom, which I think is awesome. So you could be zooming with your friends right now and painting in your own homes. You can do that the rest of this week with me. If you guys had fun tonight and you want to be painting some owls with me this week, that's what we're gonna do the rest of the week. Get your girlfriends on board, have them do it with you. So I think I'm going to decide I want my light source coming from here. So see how we've got the pink there, kind of like highlight on this side of the pumpkin, right? So I think I'm going to add a little bit more up here, and then I'm going to treat this side with more of a shadow, and I'm going to use these colors to kind of be my darker I'm gonna have to keep looking at the screen because I'm getting a glare here, kind of see what I'm doing. Awesome, Sam, she said me and my boyfriend are killing it. Yeah, and I tease, I say that I teach women how to paint. Men are most definitely welcome. It just happens to be that there are 100% women in my group. Tammy, yes, hopefully by tomorrow there will be a template for the bird, the owl, that you guys can sign up for. I'm working on it. I do not have a sample of it yet. I have to create it tomorrow. I'm only creating one version, so I'm just painting the first one tomorrow as an example to show you guys. Tomorrow night, and then we're going to duplicate it on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You're going to get to see kind of how I— this is what I call the learn the process technique that I do inside of my group for some of my lessons, where you get to see me take it from idea to finished painting. So you get to be there for the whole process. I won't have pre-made examples of those, and I think it's really, really good for you guys to see that. Kind of how things come together, and hopefully it will inspire you and help you know how to create your own art as well. I feel like I missed someone's— I think you guys are answering each other's questions. That's great. All right, so you like kind of see how the light is focused on the left side here. I'm just grabbing a little bit of white and throwing that in. Now I want to grab some of my teal. This is Bahama Blue. Oops, just smeared that. We'll just fix that a little there. I love the contrast of the teal and the orange together. What do you guys think? Do you like the teal on the pumpkin? Thank you, I'm glad the tips are helping. So let me know if you like the teal. And then can anyone tell me— I like to do these little quizzes sometimes for those of you that maybe have painted with me a little longer than the others— can anyone tell me why that is so appealing? To our eye to see the orange and the blue together? Who's going to be the first one to answer? All right, while you guys are answering that, I'm going to start adding my leaf on here, and I'm just kind of coming a curve one way and then curving back the other. And I'm doing that light sage green, and then I'm going to grab some of the dark, just kind of smear that in there. Let me see if anyone's answered yet. Oh, you guys got it! It's because they're opposites on the color wheel. They're complementary colors. So blue and orange, red and green, yellow, purple. You can print off a color wheel for free, by the way. Um, anything that's opposite on the color wheel is naturally more appealing to our eye. So when you can use that in your paintings, it kind of makes things pop a little bit more. You guys did good. Let's add a little green in here. I need to come back and add that black line in there that I don't have. So if you're having trouble with your colors, grab yourself a blow dryer or walk away. Just hang out with me for a bit. Don't add any more paint to your canvas because when you let it dry versus when you do this wet with colors, you get a totally different look because it scrapes over and you get that like bumpy look to it, which I love. Now we're going to add a leaf over on this side. And again, if you still are just using a paintbrush, you can absolutely do that. It's just not going to have that same texture, but you can still follow the methods that I'm teaching and just do it with a paintbrush instead. What do you think? Starting to come together? I need to grab a drink of water. Bye, Vicki. All right, so let's add those rosettes in. Yes, if it's getting muddy, stop, stop, stop, stop. You don't want a muddy mess there. This is still— this is awesome. Okay, so I talked to you guys about color mixing. I made this a few weeks ago. I showed a color mixing in our free Facebook group, and then I got these little containers. You can get these at Walmart or wherever. And I mixed a bunch of one color up and I saved it in here. And I'm like super impressed. This is 2 weeks later and there's still a lot of paint in here. I didn't have it filled up all the way. I didn't know if it would already be dry. So I would highly recommend these little guys. It's just this little container. If you want to play around and make your own colors, this is doing a great job of keeping them. Yes, the pressure with the palette knife is very light. I'm not pushing down very hard at all. Close-up of the leaf. Yes, I can. This way, it's hard to tell on the camera. So I've got these like rosettes, basically just some big circles here. These are like how I love doing palette knife flowers, and I'm just scooping a bunch of paint on there. We're just going to come and make a big circle down here first. And feel free to rotate the canvas if you need to. If the angle is weird for you to go this way, rotate your canvas. You saw me do it earlier, then I can kind of get that angle a little bit better. So again, right now think of this as just placement holders. It's not gonna— finished product is not gonna look like this. You're just getting a base coat down. Add another little guy here. Did I take that off? All I'm doing is circles, and then we're gonna have a big one over here. So all that is, is just that one color of paint, and all I did was make different size circles with it. So I know that cut off the screen for a little bit, but you didn't miss any technique there. Okay, and then I'm just going to wipe this off, have a little leaf coming out of these as well. All right, where's my green? Here's my green. I have too many plates of colors. Just tuck this in here. And then I'm just putting that dark green right in with it and just kind of mixing them together on my canvas. And we're going to add another one down here. I'm gonna go all the way up to that edge. This is— this rose, rosette, whatever you want to call it, is actually going to cover this up. Let's grab a little bit of that pink. Look how pretty that pink is. In there. And we're just going to kind of start going around in circular motions. Think about like a parenthesis, so you're kind of doing parentheses this way, another one that way, all different sizes. There's really no right or wrong. Let's do a big circle there in the middle. Then while we're over here, I'm going to grab a little bit of the blue Very, very light. Leave it like that for now. I think there's too much pink in there. We'll have to pull back. This is too pink. Probably come back and add some, um, that purple back to it. So let's go over on this side and do the same thing. So just circular little lines. Let's add some blue in here. And again, you can pick whatever colors you want. If you don't like these colors, you can pick something completely different. There's some dried paint on that one. What do you guys think so far? Um, this will just stay up on the Facebook page. So you can go back and watch it whenever you want. All right, I'm trying to decide what other colors I want in there right now. Yeah, working with a palette knife does take some patience. Um, I recommend getting— if you guys haven't heard of this— a mixed media pad, and it's kind of like a sketchbook for painting. So I highly, highly recommend that for anyone that joins the tribe, because I really encourage you guys to practice in your mixed media pad before going straight to canvas. I'm going to get paint all over my shirt. Um, you can practice your brushstrokes in here, all kinds of different things. I'm going to show you mine really quick. I've got all kinds of stuff stacked on it. Here, you guys were asking about the owl. There's my basic sketch right there. That's all I have done so far, but you can use this. So that's how I teach, like, watercolor technique with acrylic. So these are just some different— this is what I use my mixed media pad for: sketches, different techniques, practicing brush strokes. So this is why it's so awesome to have one of those, and you can do full-on paintings inside your mixed media pad. And if you really, really love it— this is an 11 by 14— you can take it out, lay something heavy on top of it once it's completely dry, and let it, you know, press it flat again, and then you can frame it. So I framed several of the things I've done in my mixed media pad if I really like them. Yeah, Darlene, it will naturally— like when it's wet, it will curl up a little bit. But the paper won't break, it'll hold, and then once it's dry, you can put something heavy on top of it to, um, to get it flat again. I know what's missing in my pumpkin now. I'm missing this line here that I forgot to put back in. That's why it's always good to be looking, take pictures of your progress as you're going. I was looking up at the camera and then realized that. All right, we are almost to the end here. Before we end for the evening, do you guys have any other questions for me about the Inner Tribe membership? I'm gonna do a quick recap for you of what's included. We are only open for 4 days, so we close doors Thursday, October 1st, and we will not open again until spring of next year, and it will be at a higher rate. So keep that in mind. But here is what you get inside Inner Tribe is learning to paint with me, and you're going to get 3 paintings per month. All original designs of mine taught live with you inside our private Facebook community. You get our amazing Facebook community with all of the awesome tribe sisters who are going to be there to encourage you and lift you up. And they're going through the same things you're going through. They're learning how to paint. They're learning how to become better artists. So you're surrounded with women doing exactly what you're doing. and that's so, so helpful, um, and it's so important to surround yourself with positive people, and that's what our group is. It's all about positivity. We have a good vibes only policy. You can't join if you're going to be crabby and mean. We don't have time for that. So you get 3 paintings per month with me, our amazing Facebook community. In addition to the 3 paintings per month, we also always have a guest artist or a guest speaker that would maybe be a business speaker, um, teaching you how to sell on Etsy. We've had Damon Oates, which is my business coach, in there training you on that. Um, we've had my friend Heidi Easley train you on, um, how to take your paint party business online and do local paint nights. So you get those 4 things monthly: 3 paintings with me and then 1 guest artist or speaker. And then you also get immediate access to our membership hub that has over over 75 tutorials, live Q&A videos, troubleshooting technique, um, all the good stuff. It's $47 a month or $470 for the year. Um, and if for a year, it is a year contract. If you join monthly, you can cancel at any time, but if you cancel, you no longer get to keep that rate. And we don't take new members back in again until next spring. So just keep that in mind. If you cancel, you lose the current rate, and then you would rejoin at the then new rate when you came back. Did I miss anything, Allison? Whoever's on here with me, I don't think I did. Oh yes, I did. It also includes the Painting of the Month Club. So that's my second membership that's only $20 a month. You get one painting per month with me. In the Painting of the Month Club, no Facebook community. These are prerecorded videos that go into your membership hub. They are exclusive paintings that are not available anywhere else. They're only available in the Painting of the Month Club. Tribe Sisters get that included in their membership, so they get 2 memberships for the price of 1. They get both Painting of the Month Club and Inner Tribe, all for $47 a month. Um, and then if you join by tomorrow night at midnight, You get those early bird specials that I was telling you about, which is the first 6 paintings that we did when I started Painting of the Month Club 6 months ago. So you get all 6 of those paintings included in your membership, and that goes for all current Tribe Sisters too. So if you joined over this last month from the challenges, you get all of that as well, and all of that is delivered to your membership hub on Tuesday after we close the early bird specials. Yes, gold. I don't know who Ann said it. That is the last step, is me adding gold. What do you guys think? Do you like it? I'm gonna come back over here and add darker purple. This one was fun. I'm gonna add a little black around that edge, I think. I'm liking it. I could keep tweaking it, but I'm going to try not to. Let me grab my gold. Making sure I'm not missing any questions here. No, Vicki, I do not have the details of what the new rate is going to be. I don't even have the exact date we're going to open. I know it's going to be late spring. So we will determine it then, um, but it will have over 2 and a half years— actually, it will be 3 years of content at that point, which is why the price is going up. All right, let's grab this gold. This is my favorite part. Isn't it pretty? And the gold kind of acts as a yellow. It's like a replacement for yellow. It's a much, much prettier yellow. I'm really loving the gold in there. Yes, Jeannie, you can come back anytime on the Facebook page and watch it again. Add a little in here. And if you guys want to find out more about the SocialEasel and kind of read about it, you can comment the word info. You can go to thesocialeasel.com. If you didn't know, I have an entire blog post with all kinds of painting tips and tricks and free video lessons, all kinds of stuff in there for you to look at this week. Okay, so we like it on the pumpkins and the flowers. You guys like these so far? The last thing we're gonna do is the little gold finishing touches around the edges. Tammy's already on it. She's like, don't forget. So I'm gonna scrape it up. And just go right around the edge here. I just love the way that looks, and there is no right or wrong how much gold you have on there. That picked up a little bit of orange, but that's okay. I'm good with that. Yes, someone said we also do challenges. I forgot to mention we do fun challenges. We had women this last week from our summer challenge win $50 in gift cards to Michaels and Hobby Lobby. A new apron. Can you guys see these? We have our aprons. We got Tribe Sister aprons and we have the regular Social Easel ones. They're only $20, um, so you can get yourself an apron. But that was part of their gift, a tumbler cup, our little stickers. So we do all kinds of fun challenges in there too. We just finished that one, but we'll be doing another one before the end of the year. And it's a great way to make yourself jump in and start having fun and learning, and you might win something. Okay, do I have any other questions? Thanks, Heidi. Heidi's on here. Vicki said, just curious, I already— sorry, I'm gonna pull this up— already signed up first for the Funky Fall Challenge, which I've not done yet. And then awesome. Yes, and you can go back and do that whenever you want to. Anita said she did hers in her plaid and tan and brown. Oh, I bet that's pretty too. Yes, if you were a— Tammy, thank you. If you were a Painting of the Month Club member and you want to upgrade to the Inner Tribe over the next 4 days, you can at any time. And as soon as you sign up for Tribe, it automatically cancels your Painting of the Month Club. Membership. Awesome, you got the apron and you love it. I love it, and they have pockets. And the best part, this is another small business. This is my friend Stacy's business, so you're helping another small business owner out by buying some of our fun Tribe swag. And go to shopsocieleasel.com and you'll see all of the stuff that we have for sale there. And someone said, are there 3 classes each month or 4? Well, technically 4 if you're including the painting of the month. 3 that I teach you inside the Facebook group, and 4 if you include the painting of the month club painting. Yes, normally I do paint the sides of my canvas. I'm not going to tonight, but you could do just solid black on the side. You could do what I did on the fall flowers. Oh, and don't forget, this is my added bonus. I almost forgot. This lovely that we just did, check out the sides of this one. Oh, that one's not finished. Never mind, this is my finished one. I was showing them the technique on the last day, but we did stripes down the side. But if you missed this, if you sign up by tomorrow night, I'm throwing in this 5-day painting challenge in addition to the bonus tutorials. So you technically get 7. Just go to SocialEasel.com and you guys can see all of that. Thank you, Denise. Me too. She said, I love mixing art and Christ. Tracy said, I did green pumpkins and my leaves are blending. Yes. Yeah, you don't want to have the same color leaves as you do pumpkins, so I would pick a different color. Color for your leaves. All right, ladies, I'm off. I'm out of here. If you guys have any other questions that we didn't get answered tonight, you can email support@christie@thesocialeasel.com, and Jen will be— Jen is my virtual assistant. She will be checking those emails tomorrow morning to help you with anything that you need. So I hope you had a ton of fun. If you missed it, the replay will be available immediately as as I close this one off. So thank you guys so much for painting with me tonight, and I had a lot of fun. Have a good night. Bye.
