Join in the Pop Up Bird painting with Christie

In this YouTube announcement, Christie Renee Hawkins of The Social Easel introduces the "Abstract Birds" pop‑up paint party. She explains that the two‑day virtual class costs $25 and runs on Sunday and Monday evenings (6–7 PM CST). Participants receive two live lessons, a printable template for the bird shapes, and a color‑and‑supply list emailed immediately after registration. Christie will host a separate color‑mixing mini‑class the following morning, offering guidance on using DecoArt paints (or comparable Walmart Apple Barrel colors) and demonstrating how to create a wide palette from just a few base colors. The painting works on a 12×12 canvas (or 11×14) with the template printable on 8.5×11 paper. Recordings stay in the private Facebook group for on‑demand access, and attendees are encouraged to host virtual paint parties with friends via Zoom. Christie emphasizes that the class is beginner‑friendly, noting her six‑plus years of experience teaching thousands of women of all skill levels, and she challenges newcomers to join despite any lack of prior painting experience.

Hey guys, it's Christie Renee Hawkins with The Social Easel, and I am hopping on really quick to tell you guys about the Abstract Birds pop-up paint party that we're doing. So I promised you guys I'd give you the details on Sunday, and this is much later than I planned on telling you, but I lost internet yesterday, so I was busy working today getting all the back get the back end of the stuff done so that I can open up registration for you. So, um, in case you missed it, this is my newest painting. So the abstract birds, and I posted this the other day. Thank you. I taught this in my membership last week and we had so much fun doing it and I'm slightly obsessed with these guys. And so I posted them on the— this page and asked if you guys would want to do it and it was an overwhelming yes, we want to paint that. So we're doing a pop-up paint party and it's only $25 and you can learn how to paint this also. If you are a Tribe Sister and you happen to miss it and you're watching, it's already— that lesson is already in our membership. Um, and I taught it last week. You can jump over there and watch it. And of course you can join us for the pop-up party as well. So, um, let me give you the details really quick. So the pop-up paint party is $25. I'm going to teach it over 2 days. So it starts next Sunday night. So you guys have a week to get signed up for it. Um, we're going to do it Sunday night from 6 to 7 for lesson number 1. And the second lesson is going to be Monday night from 6 to 7. So, um, it's a short and sweet one, but it's a lot of fun and you'll probably be surprised to know I did this entire painting with one paintbrush minus the little details on the eyes. The rest of the painting was done with one paintbrush. So I'm going to show you how versatile a brush can be when you learn how to use it the right way and learn how to do the different brush strokes with it. Um, so I'm really, really excited to show you guys this. It does come with, um, so what all do you get? You get 2 lessons with me, you get a template so you do not have to freehand these little guys, you get to trace them on there. And then you're going to get a color and supply list. So all of that will actually come in an email to you. I've already got it set up. So as soon as you sign up tonight, you should get an email immediately afterwards. Be sure to check your spam and your junk mail if you don't see it. And inside that email is a quick welcome from me and you can go ahead and download your template and, um, download your color list if I could think. Um, and I do want to talk to you guys about the colors. I'm actually going to come on tomorrow morning and do a color mixing class, um, with you guys because I want to talk to you a little bit about color mixing and not having to have the exact colors that I have in these birds. I give you my list, um, and most of them are DecoArt paints, which you get at Hobby Lobby, or you can order from DecoArt. There's different places you can get them. But given our current world situation, if you can't order them from somewhere and you can't find them online, you can't go to the store to get them, I don't want you to stress out. You can go to Walmart and you can get Apple Barrel colors that are similar. And what I tell people is to use this as a reference so you can see the colors that I chose in here. Don't get too caught up on the names of the colors. Pick your favorite colors. Um, you you know, these are— there's a lot of aquas and greens and blues and purples in here. So whatever you love, pick those colors. Don't stress out if you can't find the exact ones that I used. But all that to be said, I'm gonna come on tomorrow morning and show you guys how to do some color mixing. And I'm gonna use— let me see if I've got this handy. I had it pulled out the other day. Not that that means anything. I literally just had it sitting right here. Okay, I'll find it by tomorrow morning. There's this thing called a color mixing guide, and I'm gonna show you guys how to use it. But let's just say you wanted this specific teal and you didn't have it, but you have this this teal at home. All you have to do is add a little white to this and then you have this minty— sorry, this minty color. So we're gonna, we're gonna have some fun. I'm gonna show you how fun it is to color mix, and once you learn how to, it's just gonna expand your horizon and your world of like what you can do with paint too. And it doesn't just have to be the color straight out of the bottle. Now sometimes I love the color straight out of the bottle, but sometimes you want to play with it a little bit. And I'm going to show you how you can take just a few colors. We're going to use white and black and probably 2 or 3 colors tomorrow morning. And I'm going to show you all the different colors you can make with that. And that's what I did in this painting. So this entire background that you see here was only 3 paint colors, but by adding them to each other and adding white to some of them, I got all these different colors. So all it is is craft paints, any craft paints that you want. This is a 12 by 12 canvas. You can do it bigger if you want to. The template would work great for 12 by 12. I got mine from Michaels, or you can also do an 11 by 14, so it would work in easy for that. But yeah, the classes for this specific painting, you can sign up now, but this is $25. Classes start next Sunday at 6 PM Central Standard Time, and that's the class number 1. And then the second class is Monday night at 6 PM Central Standard Time. And yes, so once I do these live inside the Facebook group, you have access to them 24/7 after that. So you get to do this on your own schedule. It doesn't have to be on mine. So if you can't be there Sunday and Monday, then it doesn't matter because once those videos are there, they stay in the Facebook group forever and you can go and watch them whenever you want to. Um, Cindy said, would an 8 by 10 work? I think so, because like, this is the 8.5 by 11 sheet. This is what you're going to print your template off on, so your birds would just be a little bit bigger. They would just fill up more of your canvas. So I think that would be fine. I love them. Like, we were talking inside my, um inside my membership. And as we're painting them, you know, I teach live, and so we're always talking while I'm teaching. And we think we're going to do some seasonal birds, like for every season. So this was our first one, and then I'm having all my members kind of give me ideas of what birds we want to see in the next seasons. But I love these little fat fluffy birds, and they're so fun to paint. So I hope I answered all the questions. Let me scroll up here just to make sure. Michelle said, I really love that picture, but I have no painting skill. So Michelle, I have been teaching women how to paint for the last 6 and a half years. I've been teaching classes. I have taught thousands of women in that time, and most of them have never even picked up a paintbrush before. So if that sounds like you, I can teach you. So I usually call these challenges because my challenge is for those of you that have never never painted before, or maybe you're new to it and you're just getting comfortable, and maybe you're a little bit nervous, I'm challenging you to sign up and do it because I teach in a very, very simple, easy-to-follow, step-by-step process that breaks it down and very easy for you to understand. And like I said, it doesn't matter what level you are. I've taught every, every single level of artistic ability. So even if you can't draw a stick figure, you can still paint with me. Yes, Stephanie said, when you teach the color guide tomorrow, can you show how to use the wheel quickly? If I can find mine, I will. Leah, you can sign up for the membership. We are open right now just because of what's going on, and people need this sweet release of painting in the, in the midst of all this craziness. Um, all right girls, so I'm gonna be back on tomorrow. Go ahead and get signed up tonight and then you can get, um, your template and that color list. And so you can kind of be figuring out what colors you want to use. But I'm so excited about this. Make sure you sprinkle it with your friends. You could do a little virtual paint party together with your girlfriends and you guys could both be painting this. You could even do like a little Zoom call together Have you guys done Zoom yet? It's a video conferencing call. We do it with our friends all the time because we miss them. But you guys could have a little virtual paint party and be listening to me and showing each other your paintings at the same time. So this is what we're doing. This is the pop-up party next Sunday night, and it's $25. So I'm super excited. I'll see you guys in there. Bye.
