Christie Renee Hawkins paints a winter pinecone using burnt umber, black, dark green, gold, and white. She simplifies the shape into a rounded triangle first, then builds color and texture with loose brushwork and layering.
So I thought this would be something fun to teach you guys going into the winter months. Some burnt umber, some black. This is just a dark hunter green. It's called Hauser dark green. To use gold as a yellow sometimes in my paintings, and, um, and then of course white. And we don't even have to be too careful with this. So kind of break things down in your eyes is like, what's the basic shape of that? So we're going to make kind of a rounded triangle.
