2017 ASPCA Wall Calendar

Christina Haftman posts a short personal YouTube vlog showing the 2017 ASPCA wall calendar and using it to describe the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). She explains that the calendar features colorful photos and monthly rescue stories, encourages viewers to donate (mentions aspca.org) or volunteer, and relates a childhood history of giving small donations; she emphasizes that any contribution (money, supplies, or time) helps.

Hey there, it's Christina. I just got back from the mailbox and I wanted to do a video. It seems I do a lot of videos when I get back from the mailbox to share with you a little bit of my offline world physical things. But yeah, I just got the American SPCA 2017 calendar, and this is this acronym, if you're not familiar with it, is the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. So they said here in their letter that the way you can identify a real animal lover is if they have an SPCA wall calendar. And yes, of course, I use Google Calendar and iCal and have my digital way to keep my life organized. But every year I still get a physical calendar with golden retrievers on it. And the SPCA calendar, which they send, it's complimentary, but they're really soliciting donations. And this is a wonderful charity because this organization is really the frontline defense for animals who are. You know, they rescue animals that are in danger, dangerous situations of abuse and neglect and abandonment and even natural disasters like floods and hurricanes, as you've seen in the news recently, and even foreclosures. People have, you know, people's financial situations are quite dynamic and can change. And unfortunately, sometimes they can't take care of their pets. So there's a lot of precursors and just things that happen in the world that animals fall victim to. So this organization tries to. To rescue them. And I really, I've been supporting it a lot off and on, ever since my childhood when I first discovered it. This. This organization is, you know, decades. It's been established for a very, very long time. So, yeah, I just wanted to show you just the calendar. It's a 2017 calendar. It's beautiful, it's color. It has colorful pictures of dogs and cats. And this is my birthday month, May 2017. So I was going to just show you the dog that's on this one. And each month features a real dog, a real or cat rescue story. So over here on the far left, it'll tell you an inspiring story of a rescue and how the animal found a very loving home. So, yeah, you might want to check out their website. I think it is, if it's on the paper. Just I want to make sure I get it right. They really should put the website on. The offline paper here. They do have their Twitter and their Facebook. Where's the. Okay, you just have to Google it or try aspca.org yeah, that's what I think it is because it's. You Know, it's a non profit. Aspca.org if you want to make a donation or do a little bit of preliminary research to see what they actually which what they actually do and some of the rescue stories to see where your money would really be going if it's in your heart to do so. And you know what, if you're a young person listening to this video. I was in grade school when I first learned about this organization through this is long before the Internet. It came in the mail. I think they sent stickers of dogs and cats and stories and it just broke my heart. And I think I was in third or fourth grade and I would send in $5. So any amount, big or small, I know that they would welcome it with open arms and open hands because it all adds up. Because there's millions of people on the planet and collectively, you know, they can receive a little bit from a lot of people and still do something. I mean, it could even, you know, mean, you know, a dog food in bulk from Costco, you know, could feed a lot of the animals. So. And that's like maybe $20 for a 40 pound bag. So never. I guess my point is if it's in your heart to do so, donate. If not, don't feel pressured by this video. So if it's in your heart to do so, go ahead and check out the website and make a donation. And if you're feeling like I don't have a lot of money, any amount, even a dollar something, put the money in motion. It'll make you feel good and it'll be well received and very appreciated and added to other people who are, you know, maybe further along in life or have things a little bit better off right now and they can give more. But put, you know, add yours to the, to the pot or the basket, it'll just make you feel better and one day you'll be able to do more. And sometimes if you don't have money, you can give time. Maybe there's a local animal shelter, a no kill animal shelter that you could volunteer at. Or maybe, gosh, there's just, there's so much you can do. I guess my point is don't do nothing at all because you want to be perfect and you want to do everything. You want to do something very grand and you just delay it and postpone it and do nothing because you want to do something so amazing and wonderful. That used to be me. And the thing is, there are people and pets in your corner of the world who need you any fraction of you and you can make a difference even in one dog's life. So yeah, even if you can't do everything that you would love to do, just do a little something and believe me, it compounds and it's really appreciated and it'll make you feel good. Alright, I'll see you on my next video. I love my dog lovers and thank you for watching. Happy 2017. Get a calendar.
