This is a short YouTube commentary by Christina Haftman that deconstructs an animated explainer ad for Honey, a Google Chrome browser extension. Christina walks through the ad line-by-line (problem statement, solution introduction, benefit-driven claims, use-case examples, social proof and partner logos, Amazon integration, wishlist/price-tracking feature, personalization, quantified user counts, and a final call-to-action), explaining how each element follows copywriting and marketing conventions to persuade viewers.

Hey everybody, it's Christina making another video. You guys know that I am always a student of marketing. I'm a digital marketing strategist, founder of CreatingDigitalAssets.com do a lot of implementations for Kajabi. And I'm always looking on the Internet for examples of excellent marketing and try to deconstruct what's working and why and then bring that to you so you know, before you become like a digital marketing person. And if you're an average person, you might be annoyed by ads, but once you actually understand how they're designed, it makes them. Makes actually analyzing ads really fun. That's what I do. So when I see ads, I don't minimize them. Well, I do if they're like bad, but if they look like they're really good ads, I want to see. I like to deconstruct it and share that with you guys. So today I saw an example of an explainer video for Honey. It's a Google Chrome extension that let me just play the video and you can see what it is. Not promoting it or anything, although it might be good. It's a tool. I have no idea. I don't have it. I've never used it. The purpose of this video is to show you the elements of an explainer video, which is, you know, an animation. It tells a story and there are, it's formulaic, there are different sections to it and it follows copywriting and it's really condensed into about one and a half minutes. And it can be a promotional video for you and it can live on YouTube or it can be on your homepage. It can be a Facebook ad. It can be repurposed in a lot of different ways. So let's take a look at this and then pause it periodically to tell you what's going on.
Shopping online can be a real hassle.

Tens of thousands of exclusive partners that social proof quantified. She's trying to tell you that a lot of other people are already on board. And here is additional social proof. With all of these globally recognized brands like J. Crew, Amazon, Target, Sephora, Nike, Walmart, Macy's Bows, Papa John Pizza.
There are millions of ways to shop smarter. Plus, on sites like Amazon, there'll be even better shopping experience because money automatically finds the best price for best seller.
So here she talks about how they're integrated with Amazon. You know, the largest marketplace and retail are online. Most everybody shops on Amazon. So she's showcasing that they're integrated with them and they have some kind of a way in which they can check price history. So she's kind of, if you're skeptical about it, this is like kind of reassuring people who might be a little bit more analytical and giving you a feeling of certainty.
Not ready to buy yet. Add a product to Honeys Rocklets and get notified by the price rock.
So she anticipates like an objection like if you're not ready to buy, like what if I'm looking and then I find the best price and then, you know, I'm not really ready to buy and I have to go through this whole process again when I am ready to buy because I was just browsing right now. She says, oh no, no, don't worry, we have a way in which to save it to your wish list so you don't lose time going through the whole thing again later.
Bye bye to buyer's remorse.
That's kind of cute. Bye bye to buyer's remorse. Because that would be the pain of doing things the way the world is now versus the way the world could be because you only have so much time to do price comparison and shop. But with this, there's no buyer's remorse. You always know you got the best deal, the best price.
Best of all, honey learns what you like to keep. Customized recommendations on an exclusive. Great deal.
So they're profiling you just like Amazon does. They're watching and paying attention to your Internet behavior, what you're browsing, what you're buying. And they're going to personalize your content and tailor what they display to you next time. And the time after that, it gets more and more intelligent and personalized and customized experience for you.
There's so many ways to effortlessly save. It's no wonder.
Six million people more social proof quantified. Who knows if this is even the exact number. We hope it's true. But anyway, just letting the viewer know that a whole lot of other people are on board. And let's see what else other people like you. Like you. That is important. You might have missed it, but like you. And then she quantifies it with a dollar amount.
