Just Got a New 4ft x 8ft Dry Erase Whiteboard for Online Course Creation !

YouTube vlog by Christina Haftman (posted mid-December 2016) showing her new 4ft x 8ft dry erase board bought on Craigslist and how she plans to use it to create digital products and online video courses. She demonstrates excitement about the board (condition, mounting, transport) and gives practical advice for course creation—chiefly to "block time and outline" (advice credited to mentor Brendon Burchard). She also mentions digital and premium whiteboard options (mindmeister.com for mind-mapping; Smart Cap 84 as an interactive board) and notes transport in a Toyota 4Runner.

Hey there, it's Christina. President and founder of CreatingDigitalAssets.com today is Tuesday, December 20, 2016, and I got an early Christmas present for myself that will carry on into the new year, into 2017 and beyond. This is something that I've been wanting for a long time and I just found on Craigslist for such a good price. This is a 4 foot by 8 foot dry erase board, a beautiful white board. It is really big and durable, high quality. It's like new. It's like brand new. They only used it a few times and I have to get the dry erase markers and eraser. It didn't come with that. But I'm going to go get that in a little while and Dan is going to mount it to the wall when he gets back home right here. And this is going to be the basis of some of my own digital products and online courses, video training courses. Because the first thing you want to do when you're considering an area of expertise, whether it's in your personal life or professional life, you want to do an online course, the first thing you want to do, I learned this from my mentor, Brendon Burchard, is to block time and outline, block time and outline. And what that means is you want to schedule a block of uninterrupted time that you can devote to creating an outline for your course. This is like a time when you're going to, you know, turn off the television if you happen to watch that, silence your phone, don't go on Skype or social media, don't respond to text messages, turn all the technology off and be quiet, be still, be strategic and plan out your course. The things you, the topic that you want to teach and, you know, the different aspects of it and just, you know, do a mind map. So some people use pen and paper and some people use whiteboard. You can also do this online, digitally at a website called mindmeister.com I'll put that link in the description box below. And if you're really sophisticated, already, have an audience, want to take things to the next level, want to do group coaching? Be very interactive with your audience, a global audience in real time. You can get one of these smart whiteboards. They're kind of new, they're expensive, but I would say the ROI is amazing because of the learning experience, the interactivity and how personalized it would be with people who sign up for your course. And probably you'll be able to charge a premium, a higher price because you're giving a whole different experience that most people are not giving in this space. So if you want to look at Smart Cap 84, I'll put a link for that, too, in the description box below. If you're at that level or aspire to be. That is a really great interactive digital whiteboard. And I just discovered it a few months ago and I'm going to eventually upgrade to that. But I want to build my presence and my audience a little bit and then deliver my content like that. So something to think about. But anyway, yeah, so the first thing you want to do is block time and outline with any one of these methods. These are all like, you know, good, better, best, premium, platinum, you know, different price points. But you want to do planning because you really are creating an online course that's going to sit out there and live out there for a very long time. And you really want to help people get results. And, you know, you really want to help people get the result that they came for you, that their success is your success, is what I'm trying to say. You don't, you know, you want to build your credibility. You don't want people to refund. You don't want them to be disappointed. You want to surprise and delight them. You want them to be, like, shocked that they, you know, got so much value, that it was so comprehensive, but not so comprehensive that they're overwhelmed and do nothing. Because so many of us invest in online courses and there's terrific content in there, but there's just so much. So there's a fine balance. And I could go over that in another video, but we're going to mount this and utilize this, and I'm really excited. It's something that I've wanted for a long time. Finally got a really good price on it. Found it on Craigslist kind of by accident. And why I say that is because when I'm on Craigslist looking for something for sale that I'm going to purchase, I always do a search and I check the. In my local area here in Northern Virginia, and I always check the box that says has image. Has image. I'm very visual and I want to see advance what I'm going to be buying. I'm going to see the condition. I actually want to see various angles of it, you know, and I forgot to check this box. And I just was doing a search for a whiteboard and this came up. And the gentleman that had posted it, he doesn't even have a smartphone, it's funny. So he couldn't even send me a Picture by text or anything. So I really took a risk or I took a gamble and went with Dan. We went over to his office and it was amazing. Like, oh my God. This is. It has an aluminum frame, it's durable, it's sturdy, it's high quality. And I'm just really excited. I guess it's meant to be. Some things are meant to be. Some finds you're just gonna, are gonna happen, you know, divine timing. It's just like another sign from the universe that this is what you need to be doing. And here's another tool to accelerate your progress. So we weren't so sure how we were going to carry it because of course we had to bring it back. But we have a Toyota 4Runner. It's an SUV, it has a roof rack and Dan was able to tie it with bungee cords in a very stable, symmetrical way that it stayed up. It worried me a little bit, it was shaking, but it was actually secure. I think it was a very windy day. So I'm like looking through the sunroof like, are we gonna make it? It's not such a great deal if it flies off of here and causes an accident. So I had a little bit of anxiety about its transport, but we got it home, as you can see, in one piece. So it's meant to be. And like I said, he's gonna come back and we're going to mount it. We have the mounting the pieces, the four corners that you put it up on the wall and then I'm going to clean it off and I'm going to use it. I'm not going to put it too tall because I'm short and I need to be able to reach so I can use all of the real estate that we have here. And I'm really excited. I'm going to get all different color markers and I'm really motivated. And what else? I was looking for one of those that are like, I'm not sure if you've seen them, where it's a double sided one that rotates and it's on wheels and it's portable. You can move it room to room. Those are like I think $600. So I sort of put it on my Amazon wish list. And then I kind of deferred that purchase and wasn't sure, you know, if I had the space for it, if that's what I really wanted. But I'm glad I kind of was indecisive and delayed getting that because I really like this one. I think this is a perfect Size. I knew that I wanted something big. I knew that I wanted a lot of real estate. That's what I call it, real estate. And this is going to be great to do. Conceptual diagrams, high level diagrams, flow diagrams, lists, anything educational and explaining things to other people. So I think I'm pretty good at that. I want to get better. I want to get some time, some video time so I can practice. I'd really like to be like Brendon Burchard and be able to do it in one take. I don't know if that's gonna happen. It's probably gonna take me hours to create my first thing that I publish. But, you know, we'll see. Because practice makes perfect and get more comfortable. And this is my whiteboard. Wait a minute. I shouldn't say my very first one because I've had one before this. And I quickly ran out of room. I was doing a lifecycle marketing diagram, the seven stages of the customer life cycle, kind of based off of infusionsoft like marketing funnels. And then the before, during and after unit. The Dean Jackson, Dean Jackson of I love marketing talks about overlaid on the life's customer life cycle. And I ran out of room. I had so much to say. So hopefully I don't run out of room with this. And yes, I do know about idea painting, how you can paint your walls. I think Frank Kern has that. Or you can just put this laminate or certain compound or chemical on your walls and you can just draw and write forever, just like you did in kindergarten. So maybe when I have my own place, not renting, maybe that's something I could do. I could devote a whole room, a whole wall to that and just be uninhibited. But thanks for watching my video. Remember, the first step of digital product creation is to block time and outline. Block time and outline. And that will, you know, set the structure, will get you planning and your structure for what you want to do. Make sure, make sure you have no interruptions, make sure it's really quiet, no children, no pets, no media at all. And I bet you will create a great course. And if you're watching this and you have not created your very first course, online course, tell me, what is your niche? What are you professionally or personally passionate about that you.
