Noon Lighting Controlled with Your iPhone

Christina Haftman analyzes the noonhome.com homepage (Noon lighting product), treating it as an example of an "upside-down" homepage that prioritizes immersive product experience above the fold. She describes the hero autoplay video, testimonials, feature/use-case blocks (voice control, night-light, vacation mode, remote control via iPhone app and cloud), and the "how it works" section that highlights a 30-day money-back guarantee, one-year warranty, free delivery, easy installation and support. The footer contains lower-priority navigational links, an email lead-capture field, and app-store/download CTA.

Hey everybody, this is Christina doing another always a student of marketing video. This is a company. Well, let me just back up a little bit. I saw this ad in Facebook in a newsfeed and it caught my attention and I clicked on it and it took me right here to this website for this new company with a new product and it is called noonhome.com and it looks like they have a mobile app and a physical device that I guess you'd say maybe an IoT device that you can use to adjust the lighting, your existing lighting in your home. So I don't know exactly how it works just yet, but what this video is about is to kind of an analysis of this website, particularly the homepage. This is an example of an upside down homepage where it's website design and we do it in certain ways so that it showcases the product and puts it kind of like focuses your attention on what's most important and moves everything else down to the bottom of the page. So as you can see, it starts off with this beautifully done video. Very nice production quality. You can tell that this is like a young couple. They're tech savvy, it's a contemporary home. They have different sty lighting. It shows the device that is over the light switch and it shows the mobile app right here and it really immerses you in the experience immediately. And this video is full screen above the fold and it is on autoplay and it repeats. Okay, so let's take a look at some other things. Up here in the top left corner is the brand logo. Here we have just five different things up here on the navigation, how it works, Lighting 101, their products, their support and their blog. And we have a call to action, a buy now button up in the top right corner with a visual of the shopping cart. It's kind of premature because you're not sure what this is yet, but still there it is. All of this is above the fold. It's the very first thing you see when you click through on that Facebook ad or when you arrive here from any other origination point. Okay, so let's go down a little bit and see the next page element. The next block. Right here are testimonials. There's four testimonials from brands with recognizable logos and you know, short description of what they said. And it transitions at a very nice speed and interval. It's not too fast, it's not too slow. It gives you time to read it if you want to. Okay, so here we go to the next Block. It's pretty large and this is kind of catchy. It's time for a switch. Get that light switch. Okay, so it says click to turn all your lights on or off or swipe to set a scene for your favorite activity. To experience noon in your home, replace all of the room's switches. So there's another call to action buttons shop. Now, not sure if you would click it at this point because you still don't exactly know what this thing does. So let's go down here and explore a little bit more. Now here are the use cases and some benefits and they alternate on the page with some really nice images. Okay, so there's voice control. Control your lighting with your voice using Alexa. And there's that big images. It's night light motion detection. Night light automatically provides low level light to guide you in the dark down the hallway. And it shows him putting his son to sleep. Vacation mode. So you can appear like you're home when you're away. And it automatically mimics your typical behavior, typical lighting during the daytime and nighttime. Okay, that's nice. And the final one is you can control it from anywhere. So it's on your. It's a mobile app on your iPhone. And you know, it's an Iot thing, Internet of things. It's a sensor and uses the cloud and uses a mobile app and the physical device in the house. Okay, so then the next block here is what they call how it works. It's a three step how it works. So they bring your attention to the fact that there's a 30 day money back guarantee that is called risk reversal. For people that are, you know, want to have a feeling of certainty, they're a little bit skeptical. There's a one year warranty, so they kind of layer that on there and then free delivery. So they're making it, they're making like an irresistible offer here appealing to some things that people would like. Okay, easy to install, but if you need help, they give you their phone number here. And then everything else that you might want to put on a webpage that traditionally might have been way up in the top in the header is now organized and summarized and categorized down here in the footer. Because this stuff is not important. This kind of navigation people will look for if they want it and they'll eventually find it when they scroll down here. But we want to bring attention to the product, do the video. So the benefits, the testimonials, how it works, all of those things are more important. So we want to make sure that they are sequenced first and they're prominently placed and the order of things is the distinction here. And then also down here we do have lead capture with just they're just asking for email address, so just one data element. And then they also have another call to action to actually get the app in the app store. And then this is just, you know, the copyright. So. Yeah. And then here's all their social media down here, privacy policy, different things. Okay, so this is an example of an upside down homepage. It's kind of like what we call it and hopefully that showed you the reasons why it is ordered this way. Because nothing is arbitrary. Everything is very intentional, very strategically planned out based on how we know people interact with websites nowadays, especially with decreasing attention spans too. That's part of it. Well, thank you for watching and I will see you on my next video.
