A short, informal YouTube video by Christina Haftman documenting a grocery-store find: a bag of reduced-price bananas sold "produce rewrap by the pound" at $0.25 per pound. Christina explains the deal (3 lb bag for $0.75, eight Chiquita bananas), contrasts it with typical local prices (about $0.49–$0.59/lb in Northern Virginia), and offers practical suggestions for using or preserving extra bananas (eat fresh, recipes like pancakes/banana bread/cookies/smoothies, or peel-and-freeze in a single layer for banana "ice cream").

Hey there, it's Christina. And I'm making this video from my car because I wanted to show you what I just got at the grocery store. Totally unexpected, totally spontaneous, and a great deal. So one of the things you want to remember, no matter where you shop is in the produce section. You know, several times a week, there is some area where they put out fruit and vegetables, I guess, that are reduced for quick sale. And the price per pound is dramatically reduced because they want to get rid of it so it doesn't go bad and you can really, really get a good deal. Now, as you know, I do juices and smoothies, high raw vegan diet. And I am excited when I can find something that fits into my budget. And. And this morning I did. So let me just zoom in here and show you what I got. I got a bag of bananas, and this little label here says produce rewrap by the pound. And it is just 25 cents a pound for bananas. Now, you know, the price of bananas well in the United States here in Northern Virginia is around 49 to 59 cents a pound. So this whole entire bag is. Was only 75 cents. And it's, you know, three pounds, obviously. And what is three pounds? So three pounds is. And these are chiquita bananas. And they're not even. Pardon all the dog fur on my car seat here, because I didn't expect to be here in this video. These are chiquita bananas. There's like four of them here. There is. There's two more in there. And so there's. That's six. And there's actually was eight in this bag because Dan took one for lunch, and I'm taking one to the gym and have it in my gym bag. And it's really cool is this little bag gives you all these recipes ideas with a full recipe for pancakes and banana bread and a smoothie. Banana bread. There's the pancakes. There's. Let's see, there's cookies. Banana peanut butter cookies. And like a little salad platter, something strawberry. Banana milkshake. Well, not milkshake, but smoothie. Anyway, it gives you all these ideas on what to do, give you some recipe ideas. And yeah, it even says right here, the original fast food. I mean, what is faster than peeling a banana and eating that on the go? Yeah, so as you can see, they're ripe, but they're not that brown. I mean, they still look really good to get eight bananas for 75 cents. So I just wanted to share that with you. I think it's a great deal and you know what, even if you don't have time and don't want to make a recipe and you know, you just eat them plain and this is just way too many, I would still take advantage of this price of this deal. And you can peel them and freeze them. Just put them in a Ziploc, but peel them, put them in a Ziploc bag, in a mono layer, in a single layer. And you can use that as a base for banana ice cream, which you can add to that. You know, coconut, chocolate, other fruits, pecans, anything you want. You can do banana ice cream. Yeah. So, so many things. So look for this in your grocery store because I always get excited when I find a deal like this. So I wanted to share it with you. Thanks for watching. Have a great day and eat more fruit. Eat by color, be healthy. Bye.
