Vegan Grocery Shopping

A short YouTube grocery-haul video by Christina Haftman filmed at Harris Teeter in Tyson's Corner, Virginia. Christina highlights discounted "produce rewrap" items and shows how vegans or high-raw vegans can eat affordably by buying reduced produce (strawberries, multiple types of tomatoes, basil, peaches, bananas) and planning simple meals (peach smoothie, veggie pizza, lemon water). She emphasizes bargains (total haul under $10) and encourages shopping reduced-for-quick-sale sections and using found items in recipes.

Hey there, it's Christina. And this is definitely worth a video. I am at Harris Teeter in Tyson's Corner, Virginia, and this is my grocery cart. And making this video to just show you what's possible if you just are attuned to opportunity and you're trying to eat vegan or high raw vegan on a budget. There's always in the produce section, things that are reduced for quick sale. And they're not like, you know, going bad, like bruised and moldy or anything. They're just sort of like they're put out so that the grocery store can still make somewhat of a profit. And they discount them deeply or heavily or whatever so they can get at least something out of it before they throw it out. And they do have a donation program too, that some of this food goes to if it doesn't sell on the reduced for quick sale shelf. But nonetheless, please look for this because you can find these good deals and then go home with it and kind of make recipes based on what you found. So for instance, right here for just 75 cents, you see it says produce rewrap. These are strawberries. Look how beautiful these strawberries are. Okay. He rewrapped them from the original packaging and put them in the market. Put them in a different code. You know, they have systems here for produce rewrap. Okay, right here, let's see if I can just zoom in. Right here are tomatoes, just for a dollar. And you can see how many are in this bag. These are the. These smaller tomatoes. There's a Roma tomato. Okay. And then here, These are actually brands name. These are Sunkissed London. A whole bunch of them. They're the baby ones. Produce rewrap.125. Okay. Big bag. Nothing wrong with them. Okay. Some of them are just a little bit green, but you can juice them, put it in your water, and then slew these. Here's some more tomatoes. These are the vine on tomatoes for, you know, $1.50. You see the produce rewrap. These are the vine on. They're not bruised, they're not soft. Very red. Rich, rich, rich red lycopene. We're going to use these to make our pizza, our veggie pizza. Look how beautiful they are. Okay, all of those for $1.15. And I got really lucky. Here's another produce rewrap of Fresh Baker, which is what I always buy to put on the pizza. This is just $2, but it's 3. Three containers of the basil. I guess you can't see this one as well. It's going to kind of be hard to unwrap it in the video. But these are like pre packed. These are packages of basil. And it's not brown, it's really green. Leaves only $2. Lots of these will go through packages. And what else? Right here are peaches. Just $2.50 for all of these. These are locally grown, by the way. There's nothing wrong with them. They're just a little bit soft. You can see they're not browning or anything. I don't even know how many are in here. Maybe 12 or 14. I just chose the best ones. The bags are for me. And then this is some bananas for just about 49 cents right here. Let's see if I can get it out of the bag. 49 cents for these five large bananas. Okay. And since I saved so much money on the tomatoes and the basil and the lemons and the strawberries and just, it's just so beautiful. This is a vegan's. This is what vegans get excited about. Since I save so much money on all this other stuff, I'm gonna get this little twist to haul strawberries because I always just cut them and that's how you use it. It's like a little, I don't know, like a little lobster claw clasp. So I just wanted to share with you what's in my grocery cart in all of this. As you can see the prices, this is under $10. All this food. I'm gonna make a peach smoothie. Gonna use the tomatoes and basils for our veggie pizza. Gonna put lemon in our water. I'm just excited about it. I'm gonna show you what's possible. Look for it and hopefully there's good finds at your grocery store too. Stay healthy, eat by color. Vegan, high raw vegan. You will feel better and you'll be in good health. It doesn't have to be expensive. Catch you on my next video. Bye. Bye.
