950 Videos and 2K Subs, what have I learned?

In this live, medium Christine J. Gold reflects on seven years of building a YouTube channel that now holds over 900 videos but fewer than 2,000 subscribers. She expresses frustration with the low view counts and the industry’s obsession with algorithm hacks, YouTube‑Buddy, VidIQ, and trend‑chasing, arguing that such tactics feel inauthentic to her spirit‑led mission. Christine shares her personal journey—leaving a long‑term relationship, moving to Vancouver Island, then living solo in South America—and how those experiences shape her nomadic, off‑grid aspirations. She discusses the importance of self‑love, confronting addiction (referencing Matthew Perry’s memoir), and maintaining a daily spiritual toolkit of meditation, healthy living, and energy work. Christine promotes her paid “Soul Healers” community as a supportive tribe for those seeking spiritual growth, invites viewers to give feedback on topics they’d like covered, and proposes future live formats such as spiritual Sundays with cards, candles, crystals, light language, and animal communication. Throughout, she engages with live‑chat participants, asks about their locations, and emphasizes the need for authentic connection over algorithmic metrics.

I am live. Yes, I am. It's not very often I go live on my phone. It's usually on my desktop. And if you don't know who I am, I'm medium Christine J Gold and fellow empath, author, speaker, Reiki master, nomad, animal communicator, and oracle deck creator. A whole bunch of things. But really at the end of the day, I am a soul just like you, just like you are. And I want to jump on because I'm feeling a little frustrated. And what am I frustrated about? The fact that I have put in my heart and soul into this YouTube channel since 2018. So that's what— do the math— 7 years. 7 years. I have over 900 pieces of video content. And sure, as we all start out with our first video, it's most likely not the best. It's fun to watch. Uh, I've learned a lot. I've also had a lot of guests on my podcast, the Heart Led Soul Fed podcast. Gosh, hundreds of people on my show as well. And I like to think I bring value to what I'm doing, but clearly I don't because my subscribers are less than 2K, 2,000 subscribers. I don't get very many views. I really get no, no comments, and I welcome all kind of comments, and I love questions especially. That means that there's something that you're interested in and/or you want to learn about. I've asked for all sorts of feedback and I get crickets. And lately I've been seeing a lot of video content creators saying Oh, if you're doing this in your videos, then that's why you're not getting views. And don't do this and you'll get more views. And please do this and you'll get more views. And, or do this one simple switch to activate the algorithm. Like, really? Really? I don't believe it. Why is, why are there, why is there YouTubeBuddy? Why is there VidIQ, why are all these other subscription models that are basically depleting your funds so you can have views and subscribers on your YouTube channel? Hmm, let's think about this for a minute. And the more that they hook you and shock you into watching a video, that's how they catch you. And honestly, that's not authentic. It's not authentic at all. Uh, please say hello if you're here. Um, and I also realized, um, that, you know, everyone's— you've got to Google the trends and all that. Well, you know what, I don't keep up with the trends, and I really don't care what's happening in the news, um, because news stands for new, never evolving with spirit. And if somebody wants tell me, then they can tell me what's going on, and then I know what's going on. And I honestly, it's like a soap opera. I haven't missed much. Nothing changes until we do, until we change. Hi JB Brown, hello! And I'm giving you a shout out, Lily Girly Pops. Now that's a name. Makes you want to know more. What, what's in a name? What say you? So, um, basically what I'm saying— and then I've been seeing other things, uh, I started my YouTube channel at the age of 60. You can start at any time, 30, 40, 50, 60, 100. Yeah, we get it, we get it. We don't need, um, honestly, there's inspiration Everywhere, everywhere you look, there's inspiration. So I guess what I'm asking you, the public— I also have a YouTube community called the Soul Healers, and you'll see there are amazing benefits to joining that said community. Now, until I actually get some people joining the community, then therefore I will feed more private community videos and stop spending time on the regular YouTube, which you're here right now. Hi Lincoln, let me know where you're from. I'd love to know where in the world you are. Right now I'm in Calgary, Alberta. Little backstory about me: 2021— no, 2020, I not only left a 6-year relationship Sold everything, packed up my car, drove 1,200 miles west to live on Vancouver Island. And then when they, you know, when what's-his-name was wanting to shut the borders down in 2021, I said, "Fuck you, I'm out of here." And I lived in South America for 6 months by myself. And I had a lot of people tell me, "You traveled as a single woman?" Oh yes, I did. How— why is that scary? I don't understand that. I mean, when people say things to you, it's all based in their fear. That's it. Their fear, their judgments, their ego, whatever happened to them, it's going to happen to you, which is all BS. So, uh, Lincoln, you're in Canada. So am I. And Canada is very vast. Where in Canada exactly? That'd be great to know. That would be great to know. Same with you, JB and Lily. Love to know where you are in the world and what's happening for you. And I also want to give, you know, send prayers and healings out to California. I have, um, Nicholas Ashbaugh. He's quite a famous tarot reader and author. He has a YouTube channel and he's in LA., and he's been showing pictures, and it's pretty smoky there. And hey, we feel you, because here in Alberta it's not only summer, it's also wildfire season. So anyways, okay, you don't say where you live, I get it. Maybe you're off-grid. That's awesome. That, that's my goal, is to be off-grid, live on a mountain somewhere. Because I think I've put in my, my time of peopling, if you know what I mean. So I'm just asking you guys, uh, why have you subscribed to my channel? Um, I understand we get busy. There's so many things we can watch and, and tune into, and there's only 24 hours in a day, and 8 of them hopefully you're sleeping, and then the other 8 maybe you're working. I don't know. Doesn't leave a lot of time for other things. So what would you like to learn from this channel? As I said, there's tons of videos, so you go and look, and if there's something there I have not talked about, let me know. If there's somebody I have to bring on my show, let me know. I would love to bring them on. So, I mean, really, 2025 I was just speaking to somebody today that we are in a spiritual crisis, um, and spirituality is not a religion, by the way, so we're not going to split hairs on that. It's, you know, we're trying to fill the holes of our soul. And, and speaking of that, I'm reading— speaking of holes in our soul, I'm reading this book right now, Matthew Perry. Wow. What a book. He not only writes in third person, like he takes himself out, like he's seeing himself as he's writing this, his life story, but he is very open and honest about his addiction. And let me tell you, we are all addicted to something. So don't get, you know, say that, oh, I'm addicted to nothing. That's not true. We all have snags. And to say that, only the ego would say that there completely enlightened and they have nothing to work on. Okay, so, um, and that's why I'm so much about living healthy, eating healthy, being as spiritually clean as we can, because in a world filled with chaos and distractions and taking you out of who you truly are at a soul level, that's why your spiritual toolkit and taking care of yourself every day is number one. Number one, nothing else. Well, thanks, Keegan. I like your— I like your— I think— is that an owl? It's very cute. I love animals, and that's a, that's a very nice name. And you just subbed, and I need— okay, need. Need is like having shelter. Need is like food. Need is like water. Those are basic human needs. What you, you want is friends. Want, want. That is filling your soul. Um, and do you love yourself? Because if you love yourself, you're going to attract the type of friends that will contribute to your energy grid and not take away from it. Because let me tell you, I've been in, in groups and rooms of hundreds of people I've never felt so alone because I was not surrounded by the right type of people. And what am I saying about the right? I'm talking about the people that raise you up, the people that celebrate you, the people that cheer you on, the people that don't deplete you, the people that say, yes, you can do this, and I'm going to be right there cheering you on. That's, that's the people. And I hate to tell you, it's not necessarily your family. And if it is, Amazing. But the reason I created the Soul Healers Community, a tribe— these are, these are people that have your back all the time, because I did not have any of that, so I had to create it myself. You have to create things yourself if you're not finding it in the world. Go and create it, because we are creators. That's what we do. We're here to create. We are here to live in our imagination. We are here to align with Spirit and to learn the language of Spirit, because Spirit is always speaking to us. How you receive it, how you interpret it, that is for you to innerstand. Under means you're not quite— you don't under— you're not getting the signs, the symbols, the whatever, the messages. Inner means I've been doing the work so much that I am just attuned to the channel of spirit. There we go. It's like a radio station. Remember those? Ah, Lincoln, you love yourself. Well, that's amazing. Thank you for sharing that. And Kirk says, "Amen." Yes, because only the ego believes that there is no greater power outside of itself. You gotta believe in something, otherwise you will fall for everything. And if that starts with you and loving yourself and building yourself up, perfect, perfect. Wow. So what started out as— see you, Lincoln, all good, we'll catch you next time. So what started out as a bit of a frustration with YouTube and doing a lot of work and heavy lifting, I realized that I also have a past life as a Buddha. What does Buddha say? Buddha says, chop wood, carry water. Rinse, repeat, recycle. You just, you have to get up every day with the same determination, the same vigor, the when your feet hit the ground, as Joyce Meyer would say, the devil gets nervous. That's what we need. That's what we need. And I really believe that you guys, uh, the YouTube family, we're all here to cheer each other on. So, all right, let me know if there's something you want me to talk about. Um, maybe we have like a spiritual Sunday with meditation and cards and candles and crystals and animals. And maybe a little light language and energy clearing. You let me know and we'll go from there. Take care of yourself. Sending you lots of love. Mwah!
