Healing Content Addiction? Here's What Works Instead

In this unscripted YouTube livestream, Christine J. Gold (Speaker A) explores the phenomenon she calls “healing as content,” where people turn the pursuit of spiritual or emotional healing into a habit of posting for validation rather than enacting real change. She argues that asking for help without accountability becomes a dopamine‑driven loop that reinforces a victim identity and stalls transformation. Drawing on her eight‑year practice in mediumship, Reiki training, animal communication, and oracle work, she emphasizes practical spirituality rooted in nervous‑system regulation, boundary setting, and concrete habit formation. Gold critiques spiritual bypassing and the “emotional support casino” of online groups, urging listeners to move from insight to action through mentorship, coaching programs, and disciplined daily practices (e.g., 21‑day habit cycles, “Buddha method” of chores). She shares personal anecdotes about cutting toxic relationships and confronting financial/ancestral trauma, linking these to root‑chakra work and upcoming financial workshops at a Japan retreat she co‑hosts with Julia. Throughout, she invites viewers ready for genuine transformation to engage with her mentorships, coaching, and upcoming events, positioning accountability and responsibility as the core of lasting healing.

Happy, happy Sunday wherever you are in the world. Another unscripted live, and I always take Sundays as a reset for myself. I don't know if you do, but it's a day to really reflect and recharge, recalibrate, and practice self-care, taking care of yourself. So let me know if that's something you practice, whether you're here live or whether you happen to catch this afterwards. I realize it's almost lunchtime here, so— and let me know where you are in the world too. I would love to hear from you. And it's really about taking care of yourself. And Organica is one of the companies that I work with. I love all of their products, their electrolytes, their magnesium, their supplements. They even have an all-in-one powder that has your greens, your collagen, your protein, your fiber. But for me, I can't take collagen because I am practicing vegan. So for me, that doesn't work. I get it from naturally. And so yes, I just wanted to talk today about healing because I've been seeing a lot of things online. Well, I mean, I do follow quite a few boards, but I've been seeing this on Threads more than anywhere, and I'm sure it exists here on YouTube, that healing becomes content. People are— some people are addicted to asking for help because asking feels productive without requiring change, and that requires accountability, and that requires responsibility. And maybe that's why not too many want to work with me. Yes, I do mediumship, and I do healing, and I, and I train people in Reiki and certify them, and animal communication, and a bunch of things. However, I have been practicing since 2018. I take care of myself. I don't just say, oh yeah, I, I, I'm healthy all the time. I'm being realistic. It's about practical spirituality. But also, and I'm sure you know some people, they don't actually want to change. They want temporary emotional relief, and I've seen this in my business, in my practice. Where people keep coming to me for readings, for cards, for some type of dopamine hit. And I get it. I used to do it before I healed myself, before I started working with myself, before I started going within, because that's where everything is. It's not outside of you, and it never has been. And sure, it's great to have a mentor, and that's what I love doing is mentoring others. But I want you to change. I want you to transform. I don't want you to stay where you are. I want you to move forward like the baby bird. I want you to fly away, fly away. Yes, hello everyone. Let me know where you are in the world. I've got Asmarabila, Emmet, uh, the man in charge Source. That's who's in charge, not us, by the way. So only the ego would think that they're in charge and that they can control everything. So I'm saying is I've been seeing this everywhere online, on threads especially. I'm stuck, I'm lost, I need guidance, I'm looking for my mentor, I'm looking for a mentorship. And then hundreds of people pour their hearts out trying to help. Advice, books, hacks, podcasts, support, step-by-step strategies. And guess what? Can anybody guess what happens after that? Nothing. Nothing changes. Because asking for help and changing your life are not the same things. Anybody else? Comment below if you, you feel that, you know that. You're doing this right now. You're putting in the work. And really, we have to stay in our own lane. We're not worried about what everybody else is doing, or how come they're not evolving, and how come they're not changing. Hmm. So for a lot of people, posting becomes the action. The comments become emotional regulation. The validation becomes a dopamine hit. Ooh, that's a big one. I mean, isn't that what social media is? Dopamine chasing, instant gratification. The identity of being the seeker becomes safer, listen, than actually evolving. Oh my God, I can't believe you said that. Yes, I did, because after doing this work for almost 8 years with people, I am tired of excuses, I guess is what I'm saying. I want people to say, I'm curious. I'm— I don't know if I'm ready, but I'm willing to take the step. I'm willing to be open to everything and attached to nothing. I'm willing to go through it, whatever that is. So it's like a rebirth. Think of the birthing process. Sometimes it's very long and it is painful. Sometimes it is quick and abrupt, but guess what? Real change is disruptive. It costs relationships. Oh yes, personally I had a lifelong friendship dissolve a couple years ago because she was on the perpetual woe is me broken record. My life is terrible, I'm always sick. 'Everyone's against me' record, broken record. So I cut her out because in order to rise and ascend and to grow and expand and to heal, you need to surround yourself in a different circle of people who are doing what you aspire to do and then some. That's how we rise together. And guess what? It cost a relationship, and many actually in my family as well. It costs comfort. Only the ego likes to be comfortable and in its cave eating snacks. It costs your identity. We all have ideas of, oh, I'm this and I'm that, I'm a title, I'm a certification. If I go to college, then I'm a somebody. No, you already are a somebody. You don't need those out outside validations. Now, if you want to go to college, then go for it. I'm not saying don't go. And patterns— recognize a pattern. When some things— I hear this in my business cohort as well— 'Oh, I'm terrible at this.' 'Oh, I failed at this.' 'Oh, I'm not good at this.' 'Oh, I'm scared. I have fear.' Great, lean into that more because the very thing that you're afraid of is what you need to lean into. But there are some people that just, they don't want to do it. They just want the attention and it becomes a pattern. Yes, I'm going to say hi to people that are here. Emmett's here. Got me, Halia. So if this triggered you, ask yourself why. And if you left, ask yourself why. I, I can see the, the numbers going in and out because people don't want to hear it. And if you're actually ready to change instead of endlessly processing, then just comment me. And let's have a conversation. I've taken 50 women through my mentorships and through my coaching programs, intuition development, but really what it, what it starts with is nervous system regulation. Because if you are stressed and you are all over the place, scattered, anxious, depressed, whatever it is, we focus on that first. 4 weeks of that focus Imagine what happens. They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. It also takes that time to drop something, or maybe it's a bunch of things. Many of us are carrying around baggage that's not even ours. Why? Because we're the martyr, we're the people pleaser, we're the fixer, we're the peacemaker. Drop all of those titles. They're not your responsibility because guess what? It's keeping you from what you're actually here to do. So it's a distraction, it's an excuse. And let me tell you, the self-help industry created professional processors. They're deeply self-aware, they're emotionally articulate, They're chronically unchanged. You can call it spiritual bypassing. And some people can explain every trauma response they have. I'm just gonna ask this. This is a new feature on YouTube. Just give me a second. Okay, there we go. Okay, I'm going to start the Q&A. Yeah, are you chronically unchanged? Yeah. And so, like I said, some people can explain every trauma response they have while continuing the exact same behavior for 10 years. Hey, at some point insight becomes avoidance dressed as healing. So yes, I have my own, uh, oracle deck. You don't need another oracle card, okay? You don't need another reading. You don't need another healing. You don't need another podcast. You don't need another nervous system infographic PDF, watch this video, take my mini course. Oh my goodness, oh, thank you, you are wonderful as well, Anu. What you need and what you want, what you really, really want is repetition. Think of the Buddha method: chop wood, carry water, Boundaries. Ooh, people don't like boundaries because that means that they have to have a discussion, a confrontation maybe, and confrontation is, oh, icky, uncomfortable, scary. You don't want to hurt people's feelings, but if you don't tell people what your boundaries are, they're just going to continue doing whatever they think is okay. And if you don't say anything, then it must be okay. Right? And it requires action, and boundaries are self-care, and there is discomfort, and it's about being consistent. So healing stopped being trendy the second accountability entered the room. That's the type of work that I do, being accountable and responsible. Accountable and responsible. Leaning in on practical spirituality. So are you healing or are you rehearsing your pain story like you're some actor or you're in a play? Look at me, I'm getting all the attention. Comment ready if you're done circling yourself. And let me tell you, the dog likes to chase its tail. I don't. How about you? Do you like that? And then I've I've got a question up there. Are you chronically unchanged? Oh, funny. I swear Sundays for me, like I said, are all about rest and reset and reflection. And I really, I get a lot of inspiration on Sundays. I don't know, do you as well? I want to talk about online support groups. They are emotional support casinos. Emotional support casinos. You pull the lever, "I'm overwhelmed," ding, ding, ding, validation arrives. "You're doing amazing. Be gentle with yourself. Rest more and listen. Compassion matters." That's the type of work we do. But eventually endless reassurance becomes sedation. Many people are not trying to transform. Look at the world. They're trying to stay emotionally regulated without changing anything. Do you know anybody like this in your life? They're always looking for a quick hit. They're always looking for advice. Right? If you ask 20 people the same question, you get 20 different answers, and then you do nothing with it. You're like, okay, walk away, that was nice. But do you actually do anything with it? And social media rewards that loop constantly. And here we are. Post pain, receive comfort. Repeat. And meanwhile, same habits, same chaos, same relationships, same excuses. Harsh, maybe? No, it's practical. Spiritual and practical. That's how I work. That's how I work with people. In my mentorships and my coaching, there's accountability. Why? Because you have to unlearn a behavior and then relearn a new habit. And there will be homework, soul work I call it. You got to show your work. That means you're invested. But many people don't want to invest. They say, oh, I don't have the money. Yes, you do, because you've got those a $400 purse or $400 shoes, or you buy Starbucks every day. So please don't tell me you don't have the money. And maybe you don't because you have had financial ancestral trauma related to finances and your root chakra. Mmm, root chakra. And I do have videos about financial abundance, clearing your root chakra, going through the Kundalini to find where your gaps in energy are, because it's really important. And I'm working with Julia out of Japan. We are also hosting a retreat in Japan in September, and at some point we're going to do a financial workshop— how to activate and clear what's going on for you financially. And how to manifest without trying. Because that word try implies that you have to work harder, strive harder, be more high achieving, do more, do, do, do, do, do, have a big huge list. And then if you're like me, when you look at a list that's got 50 items on it, you're like, no thanks, I'm not doing any of it. Anybody else do that? But if nothing changes after years of healing, then what exactly are you practicing? What are you practicing? Are you working with anybody? Have you worked with anybody before? And I'm going to leave you with this today: if you're ready for actual transformation instead of emotional buffering, you know where to find me.
