The Power of Intergenerational Trauma!

In this live‑stream episode of "The Power of Healing Your Energy" show, spiritual medium and intuitive energy coach Christine J. Gold explores intergenerational trauma, drawing heavily on Mark Wolynn’s book It Didn’t Start With You. She explains how trauma can be inherited through family narratives, gene expression, and embodied memory, and why it often surfaces as anxiety, depression, or physical symptoms when the original story is silenced. Christine walks viewers through a series of reflective prompts that map early‑life experiences with mothers, fathers, and extended family, encouraging the creation of a genogram to visualize hidden patterns. She links these insights to spiritual frameworks such as A Course in Miracles and a 360‑degree healing model that integrates mind, body, and spirit. Practical tools are offered—including inner‑child work, body‑scanning meditations, grounding, movement practices (yoga, tai chi, qigong), creative expression, and affirmations—to help participants unhook from inherited emotional baggage. Throughout, she engages the live audience, invites questions, and promotes free grounding meditations, 15‑minute clarity calls, and upcoming paid offerings like a Third Eye Awakening master class. The episode blends personal anecdotes, therapeutic guidance, and spiritual encouragement, positioning healing as a conscious choice to end the trauma cycle.

And really, at the end of the day, your depression and anxiety are highly linked to you, you know, not living from your soul's purpose. All right guys, let's get started. Welcome empowered empaths to the Power of Healing Your Energy show. This show is all about your unconditional love, your light, your intuition, your soul's purpose. And depression and anxiety are a side effect of not living intuitively, not trusting your gut, the lost connections with your higher self and others. Your soul's purpose is here. Hi everyone, welcome. I'm Christine J Gold. I am a spiritual medium, intuitive energy coach, and old soul healer, and this is season 2, episode 8. I love 8s because not only are they all about the infinity symbol, I see it as very cyclical when it comes to healing and love and forgiveness and making our way home. All right, so gosh, um, had a guest, uh, for today and unfortunately it didn't happen. So now I'm, you know, here I am impromptu. What am I going to do? What am I going to talk about? Oh my goodness, please, I have so many things I can talk about. So we are going to talk about— and I am using slides today as well, so Hopefully somebody will, uh, you know, really enjoy this or need this. And please, if you're on the replay, please say hello. If you're here live, please say hello, ask your questions, leave comments, suggestions, send me guests as well. And thank you, YouTube, um, as well. Please subscribe below and get— hit the notification bells. And if you're listening, uh, on podcast, thank you so much for listening. I love you all. I, I love the support. I appreciate everything and welcome all suggestions. All right, so let's get this going. Um, trauma— I have talked about this quite a bit, but I did not talk about the book, the book that I read several months ago. And I actually made this into a slideshow presentation, so if you're listening on the podcast, you might want want to come back and look at the video on Facebook or YouTube just to maybe get an idea of the graphics. And because some of us, you know, when it comes to our clairs, you know, some of us see things, some of us feel things, maybe we're auditory learners, we're more visual, you know, it's really trying to reach everyone. That's the whole premise of the show. So here is— it's all about intergenerational trauma, and this is part 1. So it didn't start with you. This is a book by Mark Woolan, and he really, you know, I love what he has to say. I mean, he talks about how inherited family trauma shapes who we are and how to end the cycle. So what we're saying is it didn't start with you, but it ends with you. And, you know, you can get the book on Amazon. I got mine from the library. You know, that's— I love to support the library. And if I really love a book, which I do love this book, I think I will be buying it. Or maybe if you like to read it online on Kindle, whatever it is. But I like the feel of a physical book. So it's working on the post-traumatic stress, um, you know, talking about how everything is kept in the body, how the body keeps score even if the person who suffered the original trauma has died or the story has been forgotten silenced, memory and feelings can live on. So these emotional legacies are often hidden, encoded in everything from gene expression to everyday language. They play a far greater role in our emotional and physical health than ever before. So, um, yeah, I feel like he is a pioneer, and are we not all pioneers? But he just doesn't look at the science part of it. He brings in A Course in Miracles He brings in spirituality. He looks at the 360-degree level. So it's uncovering the fears and anxieties through everyday words, behaviors, and physical symptoms. So he also has a techniques for developing a genogram, or also known as extended family tree, and it creates a map of experiences going back through the generations. So there's visualization in this, active imagination, direct dialogue. It creates pathways, reconnection, integration, Reclaiming Life and Health. So it's a transformative approach and, uh, to resolving long-standing difficulties. Like, you know, traditional therapy, yeah, I've done that. I, I've done the drugs, I've done interventions, I've done, you know, I've done it all. Um, so why not, uh, try reading this book, or at least be open to the idea of this book as well? So Now it all starts, obviously, I, I've said this before, it starts, you know, in the womb. It starts even way before that. So you might have a challenging relationship with your mother. So in some cases we have merged with our mother, we have been rejected by our mother, we have experienced a break in the early bond with our mother, Or we have identified with a member of our family system other than our parents. So yeah, I mean, maybe you were adopted, maybe your aunt or your uncle or grandma, grandpa raised you. I have to say, definitely resonate with the merging with the mother being the oldest and really taking on, you know, all of the duties early on. So not really having a childhood. I definitely remember that, and I think that's why I'm always wanting to help others. You tend to turn into a people pleaser, and you tend to overextend yourself, um, if that relationship wasn't healed. All right, so, um, and many have experienced a break in the early bond with their mother as well, um, you know, then that can come from all sorts of reasons. Mainly, you know, there might have been an imbalance with the mother as well, postpartum. There's many reasons, and maybe we have rejected as well. So it really depends. Divorce is definitely a big one. I mean, what do they say, it's 50/50? The marriage is 50/50. So that you might, you know, want to bring a notebook with you as well and just Write down some things that may come up out of all of this. Now we're going to move on to challenging relationship with the father. I definitely resonate with this one more, and I honestly think this is— I, you know, maybe I'm wrong, but I see this in a lot of my clients. That's definitely the father relationship, whether it was the male, the female, you know, the, the, the girl, the boy had that challenge with their father. Were you ignored, abandoned, or rejected? Absolutely. I mean, my dad left when I was 4. I'm sure you guys can resonate with some of this. Maybe you struggled emotionally, physically, or psychologically. You know, were you judged? Did you blame? Were you rejected? Or did you cut yourself off to kind of like a form of protection depending on what was going on between, you know, mom and dad, or even within the family? Or were you afraid to emotions and feelings. Um, you know, we're, we're definitely, um, healing the masculine energy in the field right now, uh, because, you know, growing up, men were told not to have emotions and, you know, don't, don't show it, be tough, be strong, um, you know, just get through it, power through it. Oh gosh. Um, do you recognize your parents pain in you. So a lot of times, you know, they might feel like a failure, or they're very emotional, distraught. Maybe there's some bipolar, there's some mental health issues. So you might take on their pain because you want them to feel better. See how this is all coming together in, in the collective, um, that collective trauma. It's intergenerational. And, you know, there were a lot of secrets as well, right? We just don't talk about these things. You know, we don't talk about this. Let's not talk. Oh gosh, no, we're not going there. Or, um, you know, confrontations where it, it always went to the negative aspect of a confrontation. It wasn't something— why does it have to be confrontation? Why can't we just have a discussion? Um, because I think a lot of folks don't want to let go of what's there. Like, if they talk about it, that they're just going to fall apart. In a sense, that's how I see it. Um, let me know, obviously, if I'm wrong or what your two cents is. And not about right or wrong, maybe it's your, you know, impressions or, um, your story. So tell me your story. So we're just going to look at core complaints. So focus on a problem right now that's most pressing in your life, and I'm sure in 2020 right now there could be many, or maybe there's only a few. Is it health? Is it your job? Is it a relationship that might disrupt your safety, peace, security, and well-being? So just think about that for a minute and maybe write a few things down. And then what is the deepest issue you want to heal? Problem, symptoms, feeling, lifetime. There's a multiple of subjects. And what do you want to see shift? So don't edit yourself. For myself, I'm just going to throw my hat in the ring because I'm fairly transparent, um, doing things You know, being more independent, interdependent, finding that balance between, you know, the codependent and being ultra independent. There's the balance. So that's what I want to see shift. Doing things for myself and for no one else. Now write down what feels important to you. Write down what comes up to you. Like, just write it down. There's no filter. And if nothing comes, then ask yourself this: if the feeling, symptom, condition you have never goes away, what would you be afraid could happen to you? So there must— there might be some stuff that's really deeply embedded and buried down And you might get— if nothing comes up, you might have to just wait. You might just have to wait. So yes, um, we're going to move on to the next one. So you might want to pause and then write a few things out, come back to it. Okay, this is pretty powerful. Um, and then there's the early trauma questions. So did something traumatic happen with your mother while pregnant? Was she very anxious and stressed? I think this is probably the number one why we're seeing so much anxiety, so much mental health issues, because all of that was carried over and carried over and carried over and carried over. So if, you know, if the mother was very stressed, then the baby's going to come into the world with that same feeling, because feelings and emotions are not just— they're felt everywhere at a deep core level. Or maybe there were relationship difficulties during pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, and death. Was there a difficult birth? I know I was born breech, so I wanted to, you know, come out the world feet first, so I'm sure I was fun to deliver. Born prematurely as well. I mean, there's stuff that goes with that as well. I know I experienced postpartum depression, the mother as well. Any hospital hospitalizations, any for yourself? I struggled with postpartum with both of my boys, so I know all about it. And I'm very mindful right now as the seasons change, right? The seasons are changing and there's less daylight, so we got to get— make sure we keep our vitamin D up and keep our, you know, everything up. The happy light I've seen a few people online buying those. So whatever it takes, exercise to get you, to get you feeling good. So, um, were you ever separated from your mother shortly after birth? Were you adopted? Trauma or separation during the first 3 years? And I know that they say the child's personality is developed by the age of 7. But, you know, it's very interesting that they're saying the first 3 years. It's almost like an imprint, like a thumbprint, like your, your DNA is forever changed. But you are not limited by that. It is limited by the mind and by the body and by the spirit. So that's why I always talk about Healing at a 360-degree level. It's not just one or two or three, or— it's all perspectives, all areas of our life. And say hello, guys, don't be shy. All right, so there's more early trauma. I mean, this just seems to go on and on and on, and we haven't even— I mean, we talked about past lives before, and we've talked about the generations, you know, the Holocaust, the, the Depression age and all that, the war, all of it. I mean, it— there's so much to clear. So who died or participated in the Holocaust or some other genocide? I mean, that's a— that's huge. That is huge. And I know we make jokes about it, but it's, it's honestly, it's, it's not a joke. Um, who was murdered? Who felt responsible for someone's misfortune? I mean, that goes along with the guilt and shame. We need to clear that stuff. Who hurt, cheated, stole, or took advantage of someone? Who profited from another's loss? That— I've— yeah, that's the revenge, you know. Oh, I'm gonna get back at that person. Well, you know what, actually You don't die from the snake bite, you die from the poison. So you're holding on to that. Who was wrongly accused? I mean, this is all tied to past lives and fears too. I've done a workshop on that as well. If you want the link, let me know. Who was jailed or institutionalized? I mean, I remember— I can't remember the name of the movie, but it was Robin Williams and he um, was in an inst— he worked at an institution, and it was for autism, and it was back in the '50s, and there was so much shame around that because they thought, oh, you know, you know, they get this label placed on them. And it was, it was quite the movie, um, but how he brought out the personalities— they were there even though they were diagnosed clinically as not being there, but they were there. I just— yeah, broke my heart. Um, who has physical, emotional, or mental disabilities? It's rampant. I mean, we're just hearing about this now. You know, my grandmother was this, or my dad was that, because there were so many secrets. Um, I don't like secrets. Uh, prior significant relationships linked to parents or grandparents. So you hear, you know, you hear about maybe someone was on the out with their husband or wife and they stepped out and things happened, stuff like that. Um, gosh. Hello, Gitte! So nice to see you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for joining. I appreciate you. And, uh, yeah, so now we're going to talk about the family History. Gosh, there's more. I— we're just— we are just touching the surface. We are just scraping the surface. Who died early? Who left? Who was abandoned, isolated, or excluded from the family? You see that a lot, a lot. Who was adopted or given up for adoption? Was there a suicide? Was there a serious crime, a significant trauma, or catastrophic event? Now this might bring some stuff up for you that maybe you didn't think of or weren't aware of, or it was just, you know, you just forget about these things, right, because they're uncomfortable. Who has lost their home and possessions? Difficulty recovering. Who suffered in war, who was forced to flee, driven from their homeland. We're still seeing this right now, you know, with Indigenous, and you know, there's more to be cleared. Family secrets, oh yeah, shame, blame, fights over people, places, things, money, inheritance. I, I hear this one a lot from my clients. People fighting over money, people fighting over where the person is going to be buried. It's just, it's really sad. We have got to let go of control. Gambling addictions and impoverished ancestors. Impoverished. But just know that just because you were maybe born poor or born with an affliction or a disease or whatever does not— that's not who you are. That's not your story. You can rewrite this chapter at any time. You can say no more, like Gandalf would say, you shall not pass. That's done. We are done with this. We are clearing. And hi, Sherry, Liv, and Angie. I know you guys are watching on my watch party. Thank you for joining. So nice of you to be here. I appreciate your time. Because there's so many other things you could be watching. Believe me, I know. All right, so I'm just going to put this little quote in here from Thich Nhat Hanh: If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people. I think what's really important here is you are— you might come from them, but you are not them. You have your own identity. You are unique. My fingerprint is not the same as your fingerprint. So, and yeah, I love how they put this in here: 3 simple steps. Oh yeah, Christine, it's so simple. Um, you got to take a step. It's that simple, is to have the faith to fall forward, to fail forward. Failure means that you tried, so try, try again. You recognize the familiar thoughts, images, and sensations inside you. So again, this is body awareness, body scanning. However you get there, whether it's through a meditation or exercises um, you know, connecting through your energy meridians, your energy centers, your chakras. Very important work to be doing on oneself. Um, you also acknowledge that the old fear has become activated. So yes, okay, oh, this stuff's coming up now. What, what am I going to do? Um, am I going to spiral out, um, into a deep dark depression or have tons of anxiety? Yes, possibly, but I also have— I have tools. I have a self-care tool belt, and maybe you don't have one. We need to talk. You take an action to unhinge from the spiraling feelings. Yes, you're like, okay, I see this, you know, these are not my feelings. I have merely inherited them from my family, many of them. Yeah, you're gonna go This isn't mine. Why am I holding on to this like a sack of, you know, 20-pound bag of potatoes? Um, it's, it's, it's a lot of weight. Um, it weighs you down, it drains you energetically. So these are, you know, that's why I do, you know, the inner child healing. I do We do the meditations, we do, you know, the clearing, the grounding, the past lives, all of it. It is all combination of having your own epiphanies, your own aha moments, your own holy crap, that's not my story. This is me. I am beautiful. I am unlimited. I am infinite. And just know that there is a light in you which is so holy that the whole world would be sanctified by it. That's from A Course in Miracles. I mean, that— just reading that is— so you got to find stuff, affirmations, mantras, decrees, meditations, gratitude. You gotta find things that you go, that's— yeah, I'm putting this in my belt. I'm putting that in my belt. Oh, I like what she said. I like what she's doing or he's doing, and I'm going to try and incorporate it. Try qigong, try tai chi, try yoga, try walking, try swimming, try dancing, try singing, try something, try painting, creative. Creative. You will intuitively begin to discover yourself through these acts of creativity and play and releasing a lot of the trauma as well. All right, another quote here, you know, talking about— because I was on a podcast yesterday and, um, I— she asked me who God was, and I said, I am. And then she said, well, what do you want to say to people that, um, maybe feel triggered by that word, by Christ, by God? And I just told them that I love them, that they are perfect just the way they are. They have a beautiful light within, and it's not— God is not something outside. It is inside. So where's your heart? You got to find your heart. It's all about the heart, and it's all about letting go of any trauma related to religion. That, that's part of it as well. So it's just a lot of healing. So I accept the beauty within me as who I really am. I am not my weakness. I am not my anger. I am not my small-mindedness. That is the ego, definitely. I am much, much more. I am willing to be reminded of who I really am. I think that's pretty powerful stuff. Um, and I am powerful. I am beautiful. I am light. I am holy. I am wholeness. I am infinite. I am unlimited. Just the I am statements, those are powerful enough if that's what you want to start with, then, then go for it. So, wow. All right, let me know if you have any questions, if you are struggling with anything, um, during this live, um, event here or on the replay as well. Um, and again, you know, he has this infographic as well about how things are fixed. Our mind is usually fixed, but we are very flexible in body. And in spirit. So he shows us a lot like this map. I think it's a beautiful map. And if you see the faces, I see this as duality— the feminine, the masculine. We are merging and we are clearing and we are healing both. Because I, you know, a lot of us tend to be either one or the other, but we're trying to find balance and merging of the two, just like ego. We tend to think ego is our enemy, but it's not. It's just been running the show our whole lives, and now we're like, no, we're— that's it, it stops here. Um, I'm no longer edging God out. That's what ego is. I'm using my inner GPS, my God protection system, and, you know, I want to be a host and not a hostage. There's the difference. Now, if you knew me 3 years ago, I wouldn't be having this conversation. I know that for a fact. But I really, you know, this is the book. You can get it wherever you want to buy books or even from the library. It's an amazing book, guys. I highly recommend it. It integrates Everything— spirituality, the emotional pieces. And really, it's less about the science and more about the intuitive stuff, who we are at a core level. All right, yeah, so yeah, this was Season 2, Episode 8. And please let me know where you're from— first time, replay— say hello, share this out as well. And please, if you're struggling with anything I have lots of free groundings. I have prayers, meditations, guided meditations. I have a 15-minute clarity call, like an intuitive call as well. You know, maybe you want to kick the tires and see if you want to work with me, right? So go for it. Um, it's free. What have you got to lose? Absolutely nothing other than 15 minutes of your time. Most times it ends up being half an hour. It's It's never 15 minutes. Who am I kidding? All right, uh, met so many beautiful souls over the 3 years that I've been doing this, and there's more to come. There's more courses, there's more memberships, there's more webinars and master classes. So I'm building like a whole school because you guys are hungry to learn. So, uh, I also have a Third Eye Awakening master class coming up this Saturday at 10 AM Mountain Standard Time, Saturday, October 24th. So just comment I, as in E-Y-E, as in your eyeball, I, to sign up or to get the link. But you can also head to my Facebook page, my website. It's also on Eventbrite as well, so head on over, guys. All right, thank you so much. Um, You know, this is a, again, a very important topic because many of us were running from our past lives, our fears, and our traumas. And that's why we're here in 2020. We're here to clear and heal it all. Can I get an amen? All right guys, I love you so much. Please remember, healing begins where the ego ends. Take care and see you next week.
