As winter arrives, the speaker argues that burnout comes from carrying emotional baggage, not overwork. Instead of pushing harder in December, she suggests pausing to clear space and release what no longer serves you, so you can build something new next year.

I want to say something that might feel countercultural at this time of year. December isn't meant for acceleration, it's meant for consolidation. In nature, this is a dormant season. Roots strengthen, systems recalibrate, but many of us are still pushing emotionally, professionally, relationally. Without asking what we're carrying that's no longer necessary. Burnout doesn't usually come from doing too little. It comes from holding too much for too long. As we approach the solstice, I'm inviting people to pause before the new year begins, not to fix anything, not to plan yet, just to clear space, because what you release now determines what you're able to build next.
