In this promotional interview, a federal criminal attorney introduces his book, Reversing Your Criminal Convictions: Develop Your Winning Strategy. He explains that many convicted individuals lack understanding of post‑conviction procedures such as direct appeals, petitions for writ of certiorari, federal habeas corpus petitions, and compassionate release. The attorney emphasizes that successful appeals often hinge on presenting the correct record to appellate courts, a skill he has honed over a 20‑year career handling appellate matters. The book, available in paperback and Kindle on Amazon, aims to fill the informational gap, guide readers in building a strong appellate record, and ultimately help them secure favorable outcomes and reunite with their families.

¡Hola!
I'd like to talk today about a book that I've written.
It's called Reversing Your Criminal Convictions: Develop Your Winning Strategy.
This is now available on Amazon. You can buy it in paperback, you can buy it on Kindle. I just want to talk a little bit about what it is and what it talks about.
A lot of people really don't understand what happens after somebody has been convicted of a crime. Everyone's been watching Law Order their entire lives, so they're really familiar with trials. Of course, those are the things that get on TV a lot. But there's not a whole lot of information about what happens in that space afterwards. It's kind of surprising, but it's true. A lot of clients who are convicted of crimes really don't understand what a direct appeal is.
They don't know what petitions for writ of certiorari are.
They don't know what federal habeas is. They may not know what compassionate release petitions are. And so this book is trying to kind of fill that space, um, just to show people sort of what that landscape looks like once somebody's been convicted. But probably more importantly, you know, over the course of my career, I mean, I've seen a lot of cases where I felt like the clients deserve to win their cases, but they weren't winning. And a lot of that's because they're not, you know, providing the right records to the appellate courts to, you know, upon which those courts are going to be basing their decisions. And so this is also a book about how to kind of create the record that you need in order to advance your claims.
And in doing that, I mean, I'm hoping that some people who might otherwise lose their cases will be able to win their cases. And so this book is the result of really just kind of 20 years of talking to a number of clients, um, you know, dealing with these cases in the appellate courts, what I've seen, what I think about how some of these can be more successful, and really just how to develop your strategy for reversing your conviction.
So that you can get home to your family.
And so that's what this is about. Um, there's not much in this space, and so this is just my kind of humble contribution, um, to those who may find it useful. So I hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at the firm. We can be reached at 803-445-1333. Thank you.
