A short recorded conversation (January 2025) in which Chris Wiser and a colleague discuss niche marketing strategies for cybersecurity businesses. Key advice: pick a niche, intensely educate prospects for free to build trust and authority, use a thorough sales process (including risk assessments) to differentiate from cheaper competitors, and demonstrate why low-price providers are inferior.
So I think pick a niche, go after it, solve some problems, educate them like crazy. Educate with abandon is how I look at it. Like, give all of your free. Give everything away. I'm going to teach you how to secure your own network on cybersecurity. I'm going to teach your elderly care facility how to properly protect your network. Well, they can't do it. They can't get the tools. They can't. So let them do that. And who are they going to call? Oh, the person that they learned it from. The expert.
That's right.
Not the cheap guy. That's not even doing that stuff. Show them why the cheap guy sucks.
I love it. Whenever our clients will say, yeah, we just signed this deal because we were more expensive because we made them do a cyber security risk assessment. We had process and the competitor was just trying to give them a quote and it was a red flag to the client.
Yep.
Yeah.
And if you do it right, you don't skip skeps. You actually have a sales process that makes a huge difference.
