Speaker (Chris Wiser) warns against taking calls with unqualified leads who don't know why they're on the call, calling this a waste of time. He recommends using briefings, webinars, and group events (lunch-and-learns, breakfast meetings) to bring leads into a shared context, build rapport, and decide whether a follow-up conversation is warranted.
Have you ever gotten on the phone with someone who's a little clueless and they're like, why am I talking to you? And they're like, oh, well, your dialer called me, and I don't really know why I'm here on this call with you. What's this about? That is a waste of your time. That's a waste of your time. And if you have dialers or outsourced companies that are giving you or passing those calls to you, tell them that's a waste of your time and you're going to start sending them an invoice. You cannot get on calls with leads that have no idea why they're there. So that's why we have the briefings. That's why we have the webinars. That's why we have lunch and learn. That's why we have breakfast and breaches. This is why we do these things. So you can pull people into a room with you just like we're in right now. We can. We can hang out. We can break bread together. We can get to know each other. Then we can decide if it's worth us having another conversation.
